  • hi, this is my 1st ever post

i have done half my xmas shopping already, making an overall saving of 30% off the budget.

Me and my partner have a friend from his work, who is absolutly lovely. She has been very supportive during hard times. I want to get her a gift but we are very streched with money. We are aiming to spend about £10 in total but we arn't sure what to get.

We thought of a sort of hamper, because she has a son and partner so would do well to share with them. We know she loves coffee, and dark chocolate, (although to be honest, she loves anything sweet). She doesn't really enjoy wine (prefers lager) or cheese so the traditional cheese/wine/chutney thing wouldn't really be suited to her.

Was hoping ppl could help, maybe give some ideas, from past experiences or maybe from bargains they have seen in shops

    thanks for reading. x

Hey, the other day I bought sweets from the market for £2, a lovely beige suede box for £1.50 and a metre of ribbon for 40p. I put these all together and it makes a great christmas present. Maybe you could do something like this? You could get some resonably priced coffee and put it into an old jar (or one from a charity shop) that's quite pretty and do the same with some sweets or something then find a reasonably priced hamper. If I find any then I'll post some links.

    Welcome btw :)

welshgirl -I'm with Willow on that -Charity shops can have a lot of good stuff this time of the year, often its unwanted christmas presents from last year so it's always worth a look and it's amazing how something can be transformed with a different jar or a ribbon (or both) at very little cost. Good luck
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

    Hey!

    Get well soon :)

I've noticed there's loads of birthdays in October and quite a few in November. Weird eh?

  • thanks willow 92 and mary-op. Great ideas. I made a few hampers last years and still have a fair few metres of celophane so am thinking maybe getting normal coffee and chocolates and just making them look special by bagging with celophane and ribbons. Luckily have an outlet store about a mile away with a whittards (thinking of a coffee mug) but any other ideas for cheap but tasteful mugs?

thanks every1 for the great welcome! x

Have you got a Debenhams near? Print off the £5 vouchers that are on the Grabbit board and there are a few mugs at that price give or take £1! Essentially free!
