Aww thanks both. Not really all that clever pinkflop. lol Most of it is based on luck... lol Thanks for commenting though - it's hard to tell when your head is stuck in a bead box whether what you're making is actually any good or not. You kind of loose sight a bit.

Bracelet is lovely! So much better than the ones advertised on the hobbycraft advert, they just look HOMEMADE. yours doesnt.. :)

    Hello all :j
You all seem to have christmas menus sorted..........how organised is that !!
Just taken me all day to make two christmas cards (in between plumber coming and fixing radiators).
I used fabric and did some stitching round the outside so they look a bit rustic.........very fiddly though and not helped by our lad running amok when he came back from college at lunchtime !
Still, all peaceful now and tomorrow I really must do something a bit more substantial than a couple of cards (mind you they are for my two boys so I wanted them to be a bit 'special') otherwise my list will not shrink at all !

(Not adding to whats been going on but just want to say that when I first joined mse Rusty was really helpful to me with anything in the craft department............she really is a nice person.
    There...........'nuff said)
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

I think Ddraig has said it best - this thread is about fun and preparing for a happy Christmas for all.

My last work meeting went off fine today - two more days and that's the end of my contract :j So much time to spend at home and think about Christmas!!

Clare that bracelet is gorgeous, well done you xx I think I will buy some memory wire after Xmas and have a go at some for next year's presents.

Haven't been out today, decided yesterday to try to make youngest daughter a new school blouse as I have lots of white material. Spent the morning finishing it off, its not perfect, made a male hen of one of the button holes but I have ironed it and hung it in her bedroom. Wont say anything, just see if she wears it or not. She wears her sweat shirt over the top anyway. She doesnt like wearing the normal blouses that are cheap as chips, they all wear these ones with pleats on the front from Peacocks that are about £6 each or more so if she wears it I will do another one.

Spent the afternoon sorting out all my tiny scraps of fabric and started sewing them together to see if I can make them into some kind of quilt. Will be a colourful creation if it works as bits of everything in my basket. Wont be a present but might be able to sell it one of these days.

Havent got much more really to do for Xmas, just waiting for my parcel to come from Half Cost, had email saying its all in progress so fingers crossed everything will come. Should be one day next week I'd have thought. Still want to get some more little bits and pieces for youngest daughter but will have to wait until I next get some money in two weeks time as have spent it all! Rufus xx

Bit random of me ,but im always one for nostalgia.Found this thread and its years old.How much do you think times have changed?
People were worrying then and things have just got worse.
Think home made Christmases will become even more popular over the years.

Did someone say 59 days !!!!!! Oh eck.....whats wrong with me............I've been at it since January and still not done

clare - love the bracelet..............been watching these on the Jewellry thread......really must have a go next year.............you never know I might just get done enough for christmas before October...........lol:rotfl:

Ddraig - I could write a book on how times have changed I think. Being brought up just after the war money was so scarce......christmas pressies were normally a cuddly toy made by our gran.......just one each. a book from mum and dad and one year oh joy of joys.......I had a dolls house.........very basic. You took the back off and it was just two rooms.......no furniture and little dolls made by gran..........mum, dad and little girl. We made pressies for mum and dad and grandparents.......I remember making an oven glove out of felt (wouldn't have been much good would it especially as I'd done it left handed.........lol)
Christmas dad was full of Gran, grandad, Uncle and Aunt and it was a round the piano sing song and board games like ludo, snakes and ladders, stuff like that. Boxing Day we went to my other Grandad and Nan..........they had more money (Grandad had won the pools) and they had a pin ball game and we always had one of those snow houses full of toys to dip into after tea.
And it was always very cold...........no central heating, just one coal fire................bbbrrrrrrr..........must admit a lot has changed and its very ''commercialised'' with everything needing to have a price tag in some families but oh how I'm glad I've got the central heating.:)
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !
