    Hello ladies!

The very last thing I needed to be totally organised gift-wise was some chocolate coins for my nephews and they're finally out in the shops! So I bought them yesterday and am now totally finished gift shopping.

For people looking for cheap sweets, Approved Food have loads at the moment. No lips though, although there are a couple of tins with lips on. Delivery cost is high but you can get 28kg of stuff for the flat rate and it's very cheap groceries too.

I'm planning to take some cute pictures of the baby today to slip into magnet frames to go with the Christmas cards. She's all snotty though so they might not turn out well :rotfl:

  • Hey everyone

Can you believe I've had no internet access at work for the past three days? How rude!! Luckily it is back up and running now. :D

I got the Boots Christmas catalogue last night on my way home and had a good look through it - there are some good offers and loads of stuff on their three for two. I noticed one thing they did which was like a flannel wrapped round a lip gloss or something and put in a cake case so it looked like a cupcake then wrapped up in cellophane. I reckon these would be quite easy to make and look really cute for a girl's hamper or something. I might have a go...

Otherwise I have bought a few bits off the internet for my stepmum and sister. Intend to pay off the credit card this month then start getting the big presents next month. (Will have to try and stay out of the shops as much as possible or that will never happen!!) :rotfl:

Don't forget to look at http://www.northpole.com/ - especially if you have children! Looks like they're still relaxing after last year's delivery, but hopefully The Big Man and his elves will be planning this year soon! lol Nice little site though! (it's nothing to do with me, just found it fun!! lol)

  • Maybe you can help me. The reason I haven't bought one is that I can't find a cake storage tin big enough to hold a 23cms cake! There's no point in me baking one if it's going to get stale sitting on the counter in the kitchen. (I live alone, and I don't want to have to guzzle it all before it starts to go stale.) Unfortunatley most tins of Christmas biscuits are only 23cms wide so no room for my fingers to get the cake in and out.

Does anyone know where I can buy a good old fashioned drum sized cake storage tin, like your grannie had?

    Thanks

I don't know the answer as to where to get a drum sized cake, but I do have a solution for you. Use the biscuit tin lid as the base and the bottom as the top. Works a treat for me :)

CHILLOUT - When I made large cakes before (and ones I've received), I've always used am empty Quality street tin (or any other brand) They are on offer at the moment so you could say you were buying the tin and getting the sweets free!

Like Crossstich (above) says - put it on the lid and cover it with the base.

Thanks for the info on the cake tins too. I'll have another look.

I got some lips today lol, went in 99p store and saw they had pick n mix, hadnt ever seen it before even though I go in there everytime I am up the town. Thanks to someone on here mentioning I think. Bought a cupful for 99p and they were the big ones so nearly filled up the jar. I will get another cupful next time I go up. Managed to get some chocolate raisins too for the reindeer poop so will have a go at them tomorrow.

Ordered some choccy bars off Tesco to come Saturday with the shopping to recover for the little ones and odered a couple of ags of jelly babies too, on offer at half price (£1.27 for two packs).

All my Ebay stuff turned up so I can make a start on the dolls tomorrow. The bits for my sisters quilt are lovely too so have made a start on collecting the fabric for that.

ExMil gave me some lovely curtains for the spare room, I am going to try to fix up a pole covering my shelves with my craft stuff on so that I can shut it away when I am finished. She gave me some cushions to match too so will look nice on the spare bed when we get a mattress. Just need some sheets for it and will have everything for it and free too.

    Hi everyone, just dropping in,

I went to lakeland for my cake tins they`re 3 for 2 and then i went to purchase a muffin one at £10.99, which i decided was too expensive. So I bought some egg spray at £2.99, going upto till i spied they had a tin, exactlly the same with 12 silicon muffin cases for £5.99 so I bought that.

I completely forgot i went in to get an american cup

Anyway point being mary i thought about your little pegs and think i thought of something, when i went on a cruise last year i seen people at dinner , with there serviette held on with a pin to save splashing their clothes. So what about using pegs for that, i m going to . (i always make a mess)

elysia - OH drummed up support of sons and when i went off to spa, it was all arranged, I must blog it because I`m chuffed to bits with it.

Angela - thank you for the cream cheese idea, is philedelphia cream cheese? I`m a bit thick i know. I nbeen watching cupcake wars the last couple of days and some of the fillings - salmon, squid....its an eye opener...

    cdsmiler - thxs for link

mum2one - thxs for putting up with me ...sometimes cannt see wood for trees...

cookiecrumbs - made me laugh, the cheek of some firms, what do they expect you to do if you`ve nothing to look busy about

rufusdog - good luck with all your ebay purchases, i` been away 3 days and have 5 parcels to pick up, how exciting, never can remember what i`ve bought...

On a sour note, i sold a screen on ebay. It cost £8.45 to post, and the chap wanted another part i had which i let him have for £4 instead of £20. The postage i didnt charge anything for as i started it free p+p. He emailed me and says he doesnt want the screen, says it doesnt fit but he`ll keep the £4 part as that does. And he wants full refund.
He then emailed saying the screen does fit and he wants another lead to connect it. It has a part with it to connect it but he wants the 2nd part which is sold separately.
Question - do i give him his money back in full plus the postage of him sending it back? I didnt say i had a returns policy. If someone has something and its faulty or broke i usually give them a full refund. But this screen has nothing wrong with it.
I dont know what to think, i thought it was sold as seen.

If he's now emailed you saying it DOES fit, then no, no refund!! It's his own fault if for some reason he now doesn't want it or doesn't like it!!

Well done to everyone for being so organised!! :j I've done nothing the last few days as I've been working and have been doing alot of coursework for an NVQ I'm doing at work. I did pinch some boxes from work to use for my christmas hampers though. I cover them in wrapping paper then wrap the pressies individually and put in the box.

My DS's stocking and my sisters are both finished so that's good! Just need to get my DS some slipper socks for his xmas eve hamper. He has an all in one from the All in One Company and they do slippers to match (along with tails and mittens!!! lol!) so I'll get him some of those. They are only £3.99 but p+p is about £5 I think. Cant find any vouchers tho for free p+p which is a shame! :(

Susan42 if the screen fits, then why give him a refund?!!! If he needs an extra part then that's for him to buy! I know we are all too keen to do as much as we can to get good feedback (I know I do!) but he has his product, it fits so you have done your part! All too often people do try it on, on ebay!!!
