How about a gift voucher for Game or HMV so he can choose the one he wants if you're not sure. That way you could give him £20 or whatever to put towards it.

I know they're expensive but if you shopped around you might be able to find a good deal and he'll think you've spend more than you have. ;)

Just thought: Itunes gift voucher? They always have offers on, where you pay £10 but get £15 worth of credit.

Sounds like everyone is doing fab, this thread really puts me in a Christmassy mood :D

I'm really stuck on a gift for my brother - he's 20 and doesn't have any hobbies really, except he spends his time playing games and is studying game design at uni.. I have NO idea what to get him! And not a game, because they're all stupidly expensive.

I have a 23 year old brother and really struggle to buy for him too. So this year I am doing a joke hamper full of 'naked lady' themed items, and then I think I am going to get him a home brewing kit. Its just a one use thing meant as a novelty gift rather than the whole professional kit. Maybe this could be good for your brother too? Especially if hes at uni, we know how students like to relax with a pint.. or 20! haha Or as hes at uni maybe a uni survival hamper? If I was you I would 'create' some conversations with him to try and find out if he wants or needs anything without him realising. Its only October so most people havent even thought about Christmas yet so dont realise questions come with intent! Does he play xbox live? Xbox points are always the first requests from OHs brother for gaming.

    Hi everyone

Was out all day yesterday so didnt get much done except made a note of what colours my sisters want for their quilts for Xmas next year lol. Will give me while to collect fabrics for them and get them done. I had a nice surprise yesterday too, I made a quilt for my Son's girlfriend as she wanted a present for her friends baby and she dropped a card through the door while I was out yesterday with £40 in it for making it. She bought the fabrics so very pleased with that. Thought to myself that it will give me some extra spending money for the craft fair on Thursday but found out this morning that my SIL still doesnt know if she can make it or not. Keeping fingers crossed but if not I will have to go over my local quilting shop and see what she has on offer instead.

but I don't like the idea of attaching the sweets (I wouldn't use lollys) with pins, does anyone know what else I could use?
Im now on the hunt for polystyrene cones.... :)

I LOVE that lolly tree! A polystyrene cone would be the easiest thing tou use wouldnt it as you could poke the sticks into it. I think Hobbycraft sell them.

    Edit - Yep they do!

Not really moneysaving but they do have some lovely mugs in Avon's campaign 16 christmas booklet they are in the shape of a snowman but the lid to the mug is a chocolate shaker but they are £5.00

Thanks for that link, Id found them here http://www.fredaldous.co.uk/shop-online/polystyrene-shapes.htm cheaper with postage (i don't have a hobby craft around here) but the cones are smaller so they might look odd?

    Hi all

For the tree cone, I've used hairgrips to secure things to that kind of tree.

And another method is to use a pencil and poke the loose bit of material or paper into the cone and it should stay in place on it's own (dependent on it's weight).

    Hi to all!

Well done on the pots of gold legendmum and pipsmum!!! They look brilliant!

Thanks for all the suggestions on a present for my nan. I definitely will do the photobook. Thanks elysia2003 for the suggestion of Hotprints - I shall have a look.

My aunt has recordings of my nan so I'll have a go at putting together a CD - I can make a copy of it for my aunt and uncle too.

Havent done any christmas stuff this weekend - although I did go to toys r us and notice that the toy my son wants is reduced so I shall get that next week. :)

Got 3 assignments to put together by tomorrow for my NVQ :(so my DS is happily watching police academy whilst I am supposed to be typing....except I am on here!!! It's horrible weather anyway so definitely a day to stay in! Best get on with it then.......!!!! :)
Gifts of time and love are surely the basic ingredients of a truly merry Christmas."
