New Thrifty Gifty - Organised for Christmas and all ocassions 2010- Santas Challenges

Oh, happy day! It was the last day of term today so now I have 5 1/2 weeks holiday
I plan to get myself super organised and do as much for Christmas as possible, as once school starts again I get too busy to think about it. Last year I only found these forums at the end of August so I'm much further ahead this year. I'd also like to get all birthday cards made for the rest of the year, and then some spares just in case.
Hope everyone is having a nice Friday night. I'm sitting here with a chilled glass of rose wine and a box of chocolate truffles, some of the prezzies from my classMaking money for Christmas 2012!0 -
Hi all
Mary, we ought to set up a tinnutitis support group here, I've got it too - always hearing doorbellsand other sounds.
Nicky - what pressies did you receive?0 -
Miss Hoodie had her last day 2day, she goes up to juniors when she goes back, shes lucky they've swopped the teachers around and she has the same one again next yr, shes come on leaps and bounds with her.
Fun as Bailey has broke the computer cable, it was half split, but he decided to have a mad half hour, and run round the front room like a mad man, he somersalted off the settee, then next min - hes stopped dead, legs in the wire pulled and split the wire....... I was halfway through an Open Uni assisgnment..... so the air was a bit blue. Thou bless her Miss Hoodie offered me her computer to use, but from what i can gather the OU isn't set up for word 2007, which shes got, luckly backed it up, so submitted a half finished assisgnment, and asked for an extension - worth a try!
Being MSE going up to the seaside for a hol (courtesy of Tesco vouchers), and go for cheapie hair cut, just hope the weather holds - but checked online and it forecast rain!!
being organised with jewellery bits and bobs, used them for presents for the teachers etc, and apparently they loved them. xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Hi all
Nicky - what pressies did you receive?
Oooh, I've had all sorts, I've been really spoiledI had 6 boxes of chocolates, a plant, bunch of flowers, Best teacher mug, ceramic desk tidy, a teddy and 4 sets of jewellery as well as lots of lovely cards. My favourite cards are the ones where the children have written little messages inside
My class have been ever so generous. It was quite a surprise getting so many prezzies as I teach in a very poor area. They haven't been the easiest of class either, for a few of them I've been counting down the days these last few weeks! But then just before hometime we all sat together to say goodbye and I felt a bit choked up, especially when some of the kids gave me lots of cuddles and said lovely thingsMaking money for Christmas 2012!0 -

Hello all :j
Got all my christmas cards done :T well except for the 5 for two sons and grandchildren -want them to be a bit 'special'. Been so bogged down with them and scrapbook this week (plus seeing ENT boffin) not much else has got done. Must make an effort next week.
I've a gravy tub to cover and two boxes I had some tablets in -they're about 8" x 3" so not bad size -might be able to put flannel snowman in them.
Phone call today from lad in scotland we used to look after -he's now dad to a little girl :T So -another card to make............not very good at ideas for baby cards.........have to have a real think. Want to get it right for him.
elysia - saw on the card thread that its your birthday................:T

Hi all
Congratulations for today Elysia
Mum2One, I was readng your latest and realised that I tend to think your DD is much older, or I'm probably way behind with kids nowadays, probably with them all having computers and mobiles. Hope your assignment will be ok.
I'm always on edge for you whenever you mention booking a holiday!
Nicky, you must have been really pleased with your class, how lovely to receive all those presents, what a generous bunch and they obviously thought a lot of you.
Mary, you've been really good with all your Christmas card making. Were they all papercrafts or any cross stitched etc?0 -
Angela - all my cards were paper/card....think cross stitch would have taken till next year and beyond..........lol.......did a cross stitch coaster for MIL last year for her birthday (had done her an 'elevenses box') and my eyes were popping out my head..............lol
Have thought about doing that other sort of stitching........can't remember what its called now but its done on the same material as cross stitch but very basic stitching.....oh -could kick myself for not remembering what it is.......typical me :rotfl:
Just had a look at my Favourites - I'd found something when I googled 'primitive christmas ornaments' and a How Did I Do That? came up with some samples on of very basic sort of stitching and it could be done on a sort of canvas or anything really. Sorry can't put link up as I'm rubbish at doing that.I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Mary, I had to look it up as I wondered what you meant - I can't put in the link either no idea why.
So it's mainly backstitch but also some cross stitch in the designs. Looks really good. I hadn't seen those before. I liked the Christmas trees.0 -
Thanks so much for the birthday wishes. I've had a lovely day, kids and OH spoiled me rotten. I've had loads of lovely presents and some money to treat myself too!
I'm just going to google about the craft you mention Mary, and then off to bed.
Goodnight everyone. xxx
