Hi all
Congratulations for today Elysia
Mum2One, I was readng your latest and realised that I tend to think your DD is much older, or I'm probably way behind with kids nowadays, probably with them all having computers and mobiles. Hope your assignment will be ok.
I'm always on edge for you whenever you mention booking a holiday!
Nicky, you must have been really pleased with your class, how lovely to receive all those presents, what a generous bunch and they obviously thought a lot of you.
Mary, you've been really good with all your Christmas card making. Were they all papercrafts or any cross stitched etc?
Miss Hoodie, be 8 in September, but shes always seem to been old before her time, - had a ngt of ngts last ngt she'd forget to pack her soft toy, wanted us to drive 170 miles round trip....... NO....... went to the local market Tir Prince - Towyn, and found one for £1. shes over the moon as its a black and white dog, and looks the spitting imagine of our neighbours dog, so the toy is called Lola.
Should be safe - were in Wales, but am resting inbetween, - yes hols, just hope to get the knee sorted for next yr, nothing be stopping me going.... xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -

Santas Challenge
Apologies for the delay....
Santas Challenge
School Holidays
By now the schools have broke up, if your on a day out, going on holiday, sounds mad, but double check you have everything, (Miss Hoodie left Big Boy - 3ft dalamtion dog), and we had tears, so rush job to the market and we now have Lola, a little Staffie looking dog - shes happy!!
If your on a drive - and children have ds/ psp etc - pack some spare batteries, be lot cheaper than buying them at the seaside, same for suntan lotion - (I'm hoping - can dream)
Cooking
Is there that must try recipie - do it now enjoy it, if it goes wrong, then say its meant to look like that
Sales
A lot of shops have their summer sales, nowa the chance to get those small gifts for teachers, childrens friends, that family member who u haven't seen for 20 yrs but you still have to buy for
Argos
New catalogue out -
To me - its 2 good points, 1st - gives me an idea on what the prices are for the "I want, I like" and also there have a new sale on, getting rid of the items that not been brought into Winter catalogue
Activities
Most of us have children, wide age range, if anyone can think of freebie, cheap activity pop it on, sure there be at least one of us that wouldn't thought of it.
Christmas
Work through the Christmas list and set budgets, and start seeing if the children/ family members have any ideas for the I wants - the Argos give a base for prices
Hiding Places
Start thinking about the hideing holes for pressies, have a dry run and see if theres any that you forget to give last yr, and you had to do that emergency present!!
Mum time
As we're the ones who do a lot, every week fond 30 mins for you, whether its read a book, hot soak in the bath, paint your nails, that 30 mins refresh you ready for the "I'm bored".....
Bargain Hunting Days Out
Look at leaflets - usually have discount vouchers
Book on-line - usually booking siscount
Look at newspapers, The Sun and News of the World had bogof alton towers vouchers (also valid for other places)
Lastminute.com - apparently they do vouchers
Local museums - they tend to be free
has your town got any events on that are free
Food lists
Start drafting your xmas food shoping, give us all chance to spread the cost and think do we really need it, - Advocat - who really drinks that - but theres usually one in the house just in case guests want one at xmas.
Ice Lollys
Poundland and other places do Ice lolly moulds, get the children invloved, there more likely to eat them if they've helped - won't realise there being healthy.
Xmas Cleaning
You've had a lucky escape, Miss Hoodie said you can have a rest this month. xx
Thanks Mum2one - nice and gentle (i'm glad Miss Hoodie didn't help this month).I :heartpuls M.S.E.Mortgage Free 18/01/10 13 years and 8 months early on a 20 year mortgage!

Elysia - happy belated birthday to you - glad to hear that you had a nice day!
Re: the challenge - in my area there is a booklet called Raring 2 go - it has loads of free things to do - my son is going to a playscheme (for age 8 and over) run by the local park rangers for 3 days throughout the holidays (outdoor stuff such as den building, making rockets etc) and they are also doing other events for children of all ages.
We also have the Family Friendly Film Festival - free movies and workshops.
Also, our local community library has events going on for 4 weeks - every Monday that the kids can take part in - they went this morning and came back exhausted
Hope everybody is well.Thrifty Gifty February make £20 challenge £21.05/£20.0 -
Hello all :j
Well after my stint in the garden yesterday my back says ''ouch !! no more!!'' -so I've spent the day scrapbooking (with the help/interference of our lad here............lol) Ones about done apart from a verse of some sort in the front and the other just needs two more pages and thats it !!! Yippee....!!:T
Thought of a totally un-christmassy project I want to do..........we've a door leading to a sort of 'indoor shed/dumping ground/freezer room that we tried to get stripped back to pine and it looks awful.......so I want to give it a sort of wash-over paint and make a door hanger to cover the awful marks on it. Got a drawer with tablecloths in I haven't delved in for a while so I'll see what I've got that might suit. (better work this little project -not told OH yet..............lol) Young girl who cleans for me is coming up tomorrow (I think) and she'l give me a hand. It'll make a change from doing christmas stuff.:)I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Just remembered, on a craft site yesterday there was a project for a no-sew reversible blanket which can also be a quilt or pillow case.
You get 2 pieces of fleece, one for the front and one for the back and you cut a deep fringe round the edges. Match the 2 pieces up then take one top fringe piece and one bottom one and knot together.
I made one of these a couple of years back for an disabled elderly relative. It was a huge hit with her husband as he was able to tuck her up in her wheelchair and it helped keep the bitterly cold winter coastal winds off her on their walks. It was also used in the house a lot. One of the best gifts I've ever made apparently
I'm now thinking of making one for DD she loves curling up on the sofa under a fleece (even in the summer!) now I just need to find the child-free time, material & somewhere to hide it :rotfl:Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
Hello all !:j
Well, delved into drawers and dragged out the tablecloths I thought would make good door hangers...............not so ! One was too nice to cut up, one too garish (why did I by it ???) and the oilcloth one wasn't long enough to cover up all the manky bits on the door. So, the one upstairs in spare room is going to hang there instead.......I only really hung it up there so when mum came to stay she didnt see the manky door in that room. I can do a smaller one for there and just turn the side in of the other one and job done ! Well, door needs colour wash of paint first.............that would've have been done today but young girl came to clean and noticed pool of water on kitchen floor  Bit more investigation and it looks like its coming from where the stop !!!! is  Least its not a waterfall as the plumber can't get here till first thing Thursday..........after that young girls coming up to help me clear out kitchen drawers and cupboards ! What a state they're in............Kim and Aggie would keel over with shock..............lol:rotfl:I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !
