Thanks so much for the birthday wishes. I've had a lovely day, kids and OH spoiled me rotten. I've had loads of lovely presents and some money to treat myself too! :D

I'm just going to google about the craft you mention Mary, and then off to bed.

    Goodnight everyone. xxx

p.s. Just to get you in the mood for Christmas shopping, QVC have a day of Christmas shopping tomorrow. I usually watch it most of the day and get loads of bargains. :)

Sorry I missed your birthday, didnt come on yesterday. Glad you had a nice one xx

Thankyou Rufus. I only mentioned it yesterday on the card making thread as I had some birthday money and it was a christmas craft day on QVC. I wanted to know if anyone recommended some of the Martha Stewart craft punches. They sold out before I could place my order.

Queenb that's a lovely bargain - All the Next shops I have visited only have rubbish left that no-one wants. :o

I'm hoping I can go to Hobbycraft today to buy some bits and pieces I've wanted for a while.

OH is taking us out for lunch for a treat, so no cooking for me today. Whoopee! LOL :T

Have a lovely Sunday everyone.

    Hi all

Elysia, it sounds as though you are having a gorgeous time, having a meal out, watching crafts on tv and now going to Hobbycraft (envy alert :))

Since the digital switchover I can't see QVC, it's disappeared.

Everyone seems to be buying a lot of bargains lately - hope you have room in the house for it all!

Just remembered, on a craft site yesterday there was a project for a no-sew reversible blanket which can also be a quilt or pillow case.

You get 2 pieces of fleece, one for the front and one for the back and you cut a deep fringe round the edges. Match the 2 pieces up then take one top fringe piece and one bottom one and knot together.

    Hello all :j
Been busy - (well busy for me anyway!) Three houseplants needed bigger pots so did that -OH got me some compost out the shed so I could do it at the kitchen table.............hope I haven't killed them off....................lol:rotfl:
Foster daughter came round...........haven't seen her for a few weeks so we had a good old natter then I braced myself and did a bit of weeding and cutting back stuff in the garden...........daft plank me bent more than I should but I did it anyway........back is now saying ''ouch!!''........still some I couldn't reach or get down to but I'm pleased I've done a bit..................taking it easy now.

Angela - I was going to do some of those cross stitch decorations to hang accross the dresser last year but make such a muck up of the christmas tree I gave up and cut up and old kitchen curtain and did hearts and trees out of that..............everyone said how good they looked so I'm doing some more this year only I'm going 'posh'..............lol Using some chenille/velvety material left over from a top i never wear.

Still scratching my head about what to put on this rather bland looking pair of gloves..........can only think of buttons...............:)
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Mary I couldn't find anything on google, but I think I know what you mean anyway. It'll look lovely - you must get a digital camera so you show us all.

Thanks Susan and Anglea. I have had a great time despite all the drama going on here. My sister and her partner are splitting up. Shame really.

    Happy Birthday for yesterday elysia

Made a nice ham for family lunch today which fed 3 of us and then gave 2-4 meals to take away and left another 2 or 3 meals at home for me

Ham in cola v.nice and can be stretched out bigstyle for pies or in pasta with cream and peas or sarnies or soup

Only mentioning it as it was a 1.4kg and cost £7.50 and will get at least 7 meals out of it and maybe 10 and could be good for Christmas time

I'll be doing it again for then as it is sooooo nice

How do you do that then Fedup? I cook chicken breasts in a sauce made with a can of diet coke and 60g of barbecue sauce. You reduce the sauce down so it gets a bit thicker and stickier. Lovely for a bbq. Yours sounds nice. I might have to try it. Please can you post what you do?

    Bought a 1.4kg gammon joint
    Cut an onion in half
Put the gammon into a tight fitting pan
Poured over enough coke top cover it out of a 2L bottle
    Cook for approx 1 - 1 1/2 hrs
    Remove from pan
Strip off rind and only leave a tiny layer of fat
Smear on a glaze mix - today I used marmalade, mustard and brown sugar
Cook in a very hot oven for 20-30mins

Can also cook upto glaze point a day or so earlier then glaze and reheat for 30-40 mins at high temp

Can also use the cooking liquid to use a stock base for pea and ham soup

I've done this 3 times now and it always makes the ham tender and lovely

Nigella has a recipe for this on her website too http://www.nigella.com/recipe/recipe_detail.aspx?key=H&rid=253

I never thought that cooking like this with cola would work but it does! Always use full fat coke tho, no diet stuff allowed here!
