Today I risked life and limb in the snow to drive to Hobbycraft (It wasn't snowing when I left the house!)

Did you get caught in the lunchtime blizzard? We got to leave an hour early :j

Also, where is Hobbycraft? I like the sound of this! Is it outside town?

    Hello everyone

Ive spent most of the day trying to get some clening done (will have to call on flylady methinks:p) (when my head wasn`t stuck down the toilet).
I wont need to buy any gift wrap next year as I have about 8 rolls of about 10 meters each-all bagged up with someribbons and bows in a santa sack. The children swapped christmas cards at DS nursery so I have loads of those to turn into gift tags.
I too, am a notebook fiend. I have one that I call my master list book and literally any task I think of gets written down in it and I dip into it to make my weekly to do lists.
Thank you to the person who posted re the luggage sets at argos. Made me realise I dont have anything to take to hospital with me (yes-I know its a ways off) but DF also has a £10 voucher so I reserved a lovely pink handbag and a bright pink trolley bag with a little document purse-supposed to cost £20.80 (In the sale-think the bag was £20 and the trolley about £30) but because of the voucher it`ll only cost £10.80. I know it`s not for christmas, but I have to be prepared for baby (and DS starts school the same week baby is due) and all of it adds up to christmas, doesn`t it?

Thats a brilliant saving, plzed the link was gd, I think I should ask Argos for commission!!
To be honest grab as much as you can in the sales - we don't need the suitcases to 2011... you beat me with timewise.

Hope the morning sickness stops soon, xx

Shouldn't laugh but when my mum was expecting me, it was dad who had the morning sickness and back-ache. x
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

Hi Whoops here... please can I join your gang of merry thrifters :-) I am living on a real tight budget so 2010 is all about how to live better on less money - bring on the challenges. Do I have to register for the challenges or just read this thread? Can't wait to get started... off to do some money budgeting....

    Hi Whoops

Just join on in, excuse the expression - were free and easy.... challenges are 1st of each month - little money related task, the 24th - Santas Challenge, a way to get organised for xmas.

I work the challenges as you take what you need from them, eg if there was sew name tags in kids clothes b4 going back to school, and u don't have kids, don't worry you don't have to grab hubbys/boyfriends /partners socks, shirts and undies - unless u really wanted to!!

Its just to make Christmas easier for us all, whether thats buying xmas paper in the sales, or tidying the freezer out.

    xx

A lovely person on Grabbit posted to info on Debenhams last night about Royal Doulton Disney figures. Now, my mum likes Doulton but wouldn't be mad on the Disney theme, but I clicked in anyway. She's now getting a mini figure for her starsign which I will give her for her birthday.

The lovely poster also linked to a 10% off code and one for free delivery, so the figurine is being delivered for £16.87 in total, from a RRP of £25 :D
  • Hi

Hope i'm not too late to join in with you all. I'm trying very hard to be super organised this year and need to be as dd3 birthday is on xmas day but I still went on to have a dd4 too!!!
Anyway so far I have opened a saving account and worked out a set ammount to pay in each month which will cover all xmas gifts, birthday gifts, car tax, mot and insurance for the year as and when it is due. Joined the money neutral thread so if I manage to cut the cost of anything I will have a bonus in my saving account!!
Went to tesco in the sale but only managed to get wrapping paper and crackers.
Sat DH down yesterday and together we wrote menu plans for next xmas. He moaned to start but I pointed out that if we do it in November we think with our eyes and buy far too much. Now we are stuffed and feeling sluggish we have thought with our belly's and agreed on much less next year!!
Started making a list this morning of who to buy for and their likes and dislikes and come up with a january sale hamper kit for sil who loves shopping (will be voucher, heel plasters, energy drinks etc) and xmas day supper hamper for mum and step dad who come to us for xmas/birthday tea every year but as were cutting back to cake and nibbles next year I thought they would appreciate this.
Have been making snowman soups and pots of gold this year so hoping for some new craft ideas for next year.

Went to local shopping centre to get colf and flu tablets from Wilkinsons for DD.

    Whilst in there found:

4 black mugs with snowflakes on priced at £3 so paid £1.50 for them
Christmas flavoured tea in a presentation tin (Best Before Date 2011) reduced from £2.48 to £1.24 These are to go in tea hampers.

Took a shortcut through QS instead of walking all the way round and found they were selling their reusuable cloth bags for 50p each reduced from £2 each. They are a good size and I will be using these to give people their gifts rather than paying 50p (reduced from 2 for £1.50) for a gift bag:j
;) The toast proposed at our wedding was for "health, wealth and happiness". Our family may not have the health and wealth but we make up for it with the happiness:D
