Thanks mum2one for the welcome, I look forward to the challenges. I have an uphill struggle as hubby isn't as money-conscious (I really mean frugal or tightwad!) as I am. I've been doing it for years, got all the Tightwad Gazette books, so it's second nature to me. He was made redundant at the end of July and I don't think it's really sunk in that he can't spend like he used to.... I'm getting there with him, though it might be a long uphill struggle!

Today we're hitting the local town to see what there is in the shops. I am hoping to make next Christmas a hand-made one as far as possible re presents, and I've got loads of ideas in hand for that. Don't need wrapping paper as every year in the Jan sales I stock up and still have loads from last Jan. I make all my own cards and gift tags too and have enough stashed away to make cards for the next 5 or so years! I think I just really want to get out to the shops...!

It never ceases to amaze me how much Christmas stock is left in the shops, re wrapping paper, cards etc. Do the retailers not realise that people go out after Christmas and buy them all ready for the next Christmas? Yet still they buy in loads for the next Christmas, and end up with excess stock again that they have to reduce! Thank goodness they do though, for us bargain hunters!

Will report back later on what I buy...

What a fab thead :T I'd love to join in please; I've put a link on the OS grocery challenge thread, hope that's ok.

I've already bought a few little things for next year - my dd and her family are in Oz and I need to be forward planning so I dont end up (again!) paying a fortune to airmail a hardback book to my dsil! (he's worth it though!)

I'd like to make my own cards again for 2010 and some gifts too; I ran out of time this year as I moved house in Nov - craft stuff still not sorted out (its the top of my to-so list, honestly!) so I'll be investigating the other threads on this forum, I don't often leave OS and I've realised I'm missing a lot of good stuff ;)
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

I can't rememeber if i've posted yet or not! How do I see my posts?!

There are a few ways to remember where you posted.

At the top of each page there are a number of bars across the screen and boxes.
Find the one with MAIN SITE as the first box, then look along to USER CP.
Press on that and you will find your own page with access to private messages, adding signatures etc.

You can go on PROFILE which leads you to 'read posts by' - here you will see everywhere you posted.

Another way is when you go onto this thread, look at the very top of the page and there is a turquoise panel with THREAD TOOLS written in one of the boxes. Press that and the press SUBSCRIBE TO THREAD. Do this for every thread on the site that you post in.

This means that whenever you go to this website, you can then go onto User CP which is also at the top of the page and you will automatically find straight in front of you all the threads you have posted. NB - they will only show they ones that are being updated so you have to press -ALL SUBSCRIBED THREADS to see them all.

PM me if you need any further help, it can seem very complicated at first.

    Hello all :j
How do you all do it, this rushing round the sales.........I'd never cope I just know it............maybe later this week (if snow stays away) I might venture into our little town -=more manageable size for me-and see what the charity shops have had returned..........
Mustn't go mad though..........spare room already looks full  and there was me hoping to clear it up !!
And what a lazy day I've had............covered an organiser/diary, found another notebook that'll do to put my christmas ideas/creations etc. and spent ages looking at it..........its so plain and needs covering (becoming an obsession this paper and glue lark !) and couldn't make my mind up so in the end did nothing:rolleyes:
OH feeling more tired today and so do I.............maybe too many late nights with the tele...............:rotfl:

    Must do something tomorrow !!
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !
