Everyone sounds like they are well on the way to getting organised for xmas 2010, it's nice to see all the oldies and loads of newbies on the thread too. I have been enjoying some nice relaxing days since the big day and am getting itchy feet now, it's time to start again... will be hitting the sales today after going to the tip so hope to get some bargins.

We've got the dreaded tip run this afternoon - HELP

Then Boots to return goods, but have a quick peep, then Argos - all my reservations, and Asda to take back jck brought dd - too small..... Children they will grow. xx
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

    Hello all :j
You're all so organised.............afraid I'm not apart from putting a few 'unwanted' pressies in spare room for next year and doing a bit of tidying up of craft stuff so I can see what I've got.
Got no intention of hitting the sales though..........don't think I could cope with the crowds..............meant to go into town today to see if charity shops were open but then the plumber came again to sort out the other kitchen sink pipe and the radiator...............so all I did was cover a box I'd had some notelets in..........meant it to be for MIL filled with assorted cards I made as she can't get out but selfish me -decided I liked it so much I want to keep it....................lol It matches a little hat box I'd covered..............mind you there's nothing in either of them at the minute so if I got my brain switched on I could make a nice cheap pressie for MIL out of both of them..................maybe............
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

I wonder if any of you are planning a new theme for your decorations next year?

I saw a lovely display in a Chinese take-away window. They had beautiful red and gold ornaments, some were like massive baubles but slightly different middles than normal and had tassels underneath, others were red patterned paper lanterns. It all looked very classy and elegant on the tree, not too many ornaments and no tinsel in sight! It looked much better than all the traditional shop displays elsewhere..

But what it would look like in my living room, I don't know..
  • Hi all
Today I went to M&S and found girly journals for 2 of the kids I babysit for and give to at Christmas they will be 6 next year down to £3 each from £5.

Got 2 tshirts in New Look for a friend for £6 a saving of £10 for the 2.

4 winnie the pooh character mugs (for snowman soup mugs) in Morrisons £6 for the 4, a saving of £2.

In Tesco 2 gorgeous girls sheepskin type coats for £7 each down from £18. 1 for my friends little girl and the other to keep - my brother and his wife are due their 1st baby in May and if its a girl it will be given to her, in 2011!!! :) If not it will go to my brother and sister in laws niece next Christmas!

In Tesco I also got a 105 piece Disney Princess's art set for £3.50 down from £14 and a mega blocks mini car set for £4.98 down from £9.99

All in all a very successful day. And apart from family presents I now have all bar 3 of my Christmas presents for 2010 bought and wrapped.

Definately the most organised I have ever been! A huge thank you to all on this thread for the motivation to start early for next year

  • I went to the Boots and Next sales today and picked up some nice presents. I got a nice big Royal Jelly set as a birthday present for DH's gran - only £7.50 but looks like it cost a lot more. I also got a Sanctuary set for Dh's sister - should have been £20 but only £10 and a L'Oreal set for Dh's dad £6 instead of £12. I usually spend £20 per person for birthdays so I've already made good savings. A nice way to start the new year :)

I also picked up a couple of little bathy sets in Next for £3 each, they will make nice emergency presents for if I forget an occassion. Hopefully that won't happen as I plan to be unbelievably organised this year! Before I go back to work (4th January) I am going to make all cards for birthdays and other occassions for the year. I have a stock pile of cards but I tend to make lots of girly cards and nothing suitable for men!

I am aiming to be money neutral as much as poss this year, as we will hopefully be moving soon which is always costly.
If I have my way (;)) we will be trying for our second child as well from this summer onwards, so another reason I would like to be as money neutral as possible for presents this year.
    Making money for Christmas 2012!

I would love to join in and get more organised this year, only discovered the forum in October, but still managed to save a small fortune. So just imagine what i could achieve with a full year of following the talented and kind people who share their ideas on here. I knit and cross stitch and have found quite a few free kits off the front of cross stitching mags which i will be doing for presents throughout the year.

I went to the local retail park today and to be honest thought that everything in the 'sale' was naff, tacky or overpriced. The only things I did like were some lovely mugs in Next at £1 but they had massive chips out of them and were still on the shelves! I was quite shocked at the number of 'damaged goods' I saw still on sale today; TK Maxx was another culprit.

Yesterday, however, I bought a gorgeous velour loungesuit from Blooming Marvellous for £20 down from £55, which will be fab for my holiday in April, and I have gone back to them online today to buy some more comfy outfits, as bump is now getting in the way of my normal clothes!

Bought some lovely foot spa sets from Boots yesterday but that was all; will try to find Christmas cards tomorrow. Happy shopping everyone!
