I'm guessing that lots of people could be in the position of no deliveries given the weather. I completely understand why Tesco would not send out drivers in poor conditions.

It would be a nice gesture though if they offered customers who had already ordered the option to have their order picked in store and charged to their card ready for the customer to collect it. That way people could avoid the madness of the store (which I think is why most people opt for home delivery) without risking the safety of the drivers. I'm sure most customers would probably pay half the delivery charge for having it picked for them - win, win all round?

Maybe an enterprising Tesco manager is reading this.........................

If it is too risky for someone to drive from Tesco to my house, and back.........would it not be just as risky for me to drive to Tesco and back?

not neccessarily - I have a 4x4 and can get around when others can't sometimes. I'm not suggesting Tesco force this on anyone-just thought it would be a nice option to give to a customer if they were calling to advise that the delivery wasn't going to be made.

Had my Tesco order cancelled today they did at least phone to let me know and I went to collect it from the store. I think they could have delivered it really cos the snow was all but gone .

You've got Sainsbury, Tesco, Asda, Aldi, at least two Co-ops that I can think of, Netto and Lidl within spitting distance, plus Morrisons if you fancy a trip over to Leighton Buzzard (I wouldn't in this weather)!! And I seriously wouldn't call our Asda crappy!!

I'm hoping Tesco will deliver to me tomorrow (I can see the store from my back door, but can't bear shopping in there at the best of times), but the side roads round us are really bad.

True .. But i don't drive so tesco's is a bit far and expensive in a taxi .. Sainsburys ..at a push maybe ... Netto & Aldi No Thanks ... Co-op .. too expensive ..

Morrisons yes love to shop there but again its the cost of getting there .. I love leighton buzzard .. Tesco,Waitrose,Morrisons ... :)

    I am sorry but i think asda's a crappy shop ... I avoid that place best i can ..

It's quite annoying how Tesco never ring to tell you they're not coming though, they have done this to me before. Ocado always ring to let you know (but they are so expensive!).

Ocado driver rang me at 8pm to say he's been stuck in traffic for 3 hours, so he'd be late for my 8.30pm-9.30pm delivery slot.

He's just called again to say he's out of the jams and has 6 other deliveries before mine and should be there within 2 hours.

He said the only alternative is to cancel, so I'll be up until he arrives as this has everything for our Christmas shop.

I sat up till 12.30 last night waiting for the Ocado devlivery, he called me at 8.30 to tell me he was delayed. I would not of blamed them if they had of cancelled at that time but to be told he'll me later and never heard anything couldn't even get through to the call centre. managed to call him back on the number he called me at 12.30 and he said he doubt he will get to me. Fair enough did feel for him. But I am now still sat here waiting for the call centre to call me to let me know what it going on, I even waited till just now to call them as I thought they will have a lot to call but 4 hours opening and nothing and the person I spoke to still said I'll have to wait till they call me. Very poor customer service this time from Ocado. :-( (not including the poor delivery guy who was trying his best to get out the deliveries,)

    When did he arrive?

1.45am and he still had 4 more deliveries to go.

Top marks to the delivery driver Marcus who didn't give up trying to get Christmas shops out. A well deserved tenner tip.

Ocado seemed to be handling it as best they could, but if you weren't able to accept a very late delivery, there were no options for redelivery before Christmas.
