  • ok - i have 2 on reserve - one at hammersmith (res number: 010 182 - holding til Monday - specially extended) and one at holyhead (***046948*** These will be held at the Holyhead store until the end of Wednesday, July 26th 2006.) anyone is welcome

    i asked Argos to send one to my local store and they were unable to do this, i asked them to royal mail special delivery it to me - i offered to pay for the unit again and the postage and then would take back first one and get refund. they refused to do this. the csr was really nice and friendly and did try for me but the store manager refused, 'due to thefts and if sent by mail as it is a hard-drive and was dropped then it would be broken....'

    so i dont need either as am taking it back and getting a Vision M 30gb from Play.com instead. for £190

    There is a hole for it in the belt clip. Screw the nut into the case, clip the belt clip onto it, attach the lanyard to the belt clip.

    Not ideal if you dont want the belt clip but works.

    on 22nd july i discovered the headphone socket was broken. i telephoned your customer services (twice in total) to see if i could get replacement, but was told that you were out of stock everywhere and were unable to get a replacement as a new catalogue was coming out on saturday - i was advised to wait and see if the item was being carried. if the item was carried you would be able to order me one, but if not there would be no chance.

    my problem is that i love this machine - i really really want to keep it as to buy anywhere else would cost £80 more.

    i went online on saturday to look at your new catalogue, and saw that it was not out until 29th.

    can someone please take the initiative and contact your suppliers and source me another one of these fantastic players please.

    *I* managed to find this item in you Hammersmith and Holyhead stores (and have them on reserve!) but your store manager at hammersmith REFUSED an inter-store transfer.

    So I have now gone to play.com and bought another one and will be returning your faulty item in the week

    I'm sorry that Argos wouldn't source a replacement for you, but I'm not surprised.. Their business model probably doesn't allow them to go the extra mile for customers in this way, a bit like Ryanair or Asda; whereas John Lewis, for example might have tried a little harder.

    I hope Argos will give you a full refund. Or might they offer to send it to the manufacturer to repair it (who might in turn replace it)?

    Regarding the low price, I suppose it's because they had sold so few of these that they had to make such a drastic reduction; I wonder if actually they were making a loss at £109.99.

    If it goes faulty any you want a replacement then you could ask creative, afterall the unit does come with a manufacturers warranty.

    I've only used mine a few times, so if anyone wants to buy it they can drop me a pm.
    The player is in perfect condition (photos can be taken to prove it)and I purchased the 3 yr Argos warranty.

    I would rather use my phone which has a 2mb camera and 1gb memory plus fm radio.

    So if your interested the price would be £110 for the player - £20 for the Argos warranty - postage about £7.

    FWIW for those with faulty ones looking for cheap replacements, Creative have added a few to their eBay based outlet operation:

    £99 with free shipping to anywhere in Europe. Only 6 currently available.

    These ones are refurbished and only come with 6 months warranty. I've ordered stuff from them in the past and have been happy with the customer services and the product was "as new". YMMV, but it does give the option of getting a refund from Argos and buying one for a similar price.
