Replacement cover is never worth it. Nearly £20 for it... so nearly 20% of the total price.
Do the maths. 1 in 5 wont go wrong. If you bought 5 items at £100 then you will pay £600. You get a 1 year guarantee as standard, that will be sufficient to note any problems.Be nice0 -
Bullsh*T If thers 1 thing that is good about argos it is the replacement cover. It is so cheap in comparison to the product and are you telling me that there is no chance it will go wrong or you will break it in that time???
The Great thing about argos replacement cover is that if the item has been discontinued then you can get ANYTHING else from the catalogue worth the price you payed.
I.E. If you pay 109 for the mp3 player and 2 years down the line you break it, when it has devalued to some ridiculous amount and there are newer MUCH better mp3 players out now, you dont get an old crappy mp3 player but one of the LATEST ones. Its in a way future-proofing.
Excellent idea if u ask me...0 -
There is no need to swear.
I guess it depends on how careful you are. I have way too much electrical stuff (projectors, pcs, laptops, dvd players, recorders, consoles etc etc) and nothing has gone wrong for me ever.
Admittedly something could go wrong, but if I had spent 20% extra on all those goods I would be thousands of pounds down by now. If something does go wrong, I have saved more by not taking out the insurance so I am happier this way.
You would have to break more than 1 in 5 things for the insurance to be worthwhile. It is simple logic.
The only way this is good value is if u deliberately break it in 2 years so that you can upgrade to something better. But I am sure that Argos must have some kind of policy that stops misuse?
I dont want to argue about it, but I wouldnt advise wasting money on this insurance.Be nice0 -
Why would you have to deliberately break it?
I have taken irons back to Argos after 2.5 yrs without any questions asked.
I will buy this player and do the same so I will have an updated model in 2.5 yrs for £20, thats if I remember where I put the receipt;)0 -
It could break of its own accord... but its probably about 2% that go wrong...
So why pay 20% extra for the privilege of that repayment?
You would get better odds down the bookies.Be nice0 -

So you're prepared to conduct criminal fraud on the insurer? Because taking something back claiming it's broken when you know it isn't is exactly that - just like claiming you've been burgled when you haven't to get the insurance money, or claiming on travel insurance for something you never actually lost.I have taken irons back to Argos after 2.5 yrs without any questions asked.
I will buy this player and do the same so I will have an updated model in 2.5 yrs for £20, thats if I remember where I put the receipt;)You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0 -

I bought one of these yesterday and it is great! The only problem is there is no cover for it. Only a drawstring bag. Does anyone know where I can get a decent cover from? I'm thinking of getting this one: http://www.i-nique.co.uk/showdetails.asp?id=172 but are there any cheaper places?0
