Because taking something back claiming it's broken when you know it isn't is exactly that - just like claiming you've been burgled when you haven't to get the insurance money, or claiming on travel insurance for something you never actually lost.
Its not as if Argos/insurers cannot test it and find that its still working and sell/auction it on somewhere else.
£20 insurance for a item that costs £110 is a bit excessive, so they must kind of expect people to take stuff back, if they can remember where they kept the receipt after 3yrs.0 -
People such as yourself should be banned from the forum with that kind of attitude.

Thinking of getting this, however...
1) Does it offer random/shuffle play?
2) Is it good for the gym? ie does the bag it comes with hook onto clothing? or tie on well?
3) Amy play back issues when jumping about/running?
thanks

I bought this the other day and also bought the insurance. I have had a Creative MP3 before and it died a death a few months ago, I wish I had got extra cover on it.
I thought the insurance was reasonable value, especially as it covers accidental damage and I know my daughter will use it too and we are going on holiday soon, you never know what could happen to it, if we claimed on our hoilday/house insurance we would have to pay the excess anyway which is bound to be more then the extra cover.

I picked up one of these yesterday, thanks for the tip.
Been looking at this on Amazon but out of stock and £140. Used 9000 Nectar points (£45) and £65 to buy!
To answer one question, it has random play function, for every track on player or at album level or playlist level.
Filling it up with music as I type!
Regarding product cover, it's got a years warranty, and if it broke after a year I'd take it back to the shop as I'd expect something like this to last more than a year - shops have a duty to sell things of reasonable quality - one of the trading laws covers this, but not often used by consumers. This means the only 'extra' cover with shops 'extended warranties' is the accidental damage cover, but that can be include in your buildings and contents.0 -
Re warranty - it's Horses for Courses - people should of course give their differing opinions to help others make an informed choice but making assumptions is unhelpful.
Little story - Son sat in passenger seat of car today listening to Zen Sleek 'cause he didn't approve of 'backseat' sister's choice of S Club 7 on the CD player. Got out of car at Gran's and player fell out of his pocket - thankfully the headphone cable was routed up inside his t-shirt and shirt and as the headphone jack is very tight it just dangled in mid-air - close call!!!!!!
Note for any prospective purchasers - screen is apparently 1.7 inch according to handbook, not 2 inch as per Argos advert and the battery is NOT removable.

I stand by my original comment. 20% cost of the item for 2years extra insurance is not value for money.
However, if you tend to break more than 1 in 5 items then it is.
That is what I said b4, and its correct

I bought the creative zen sleek photo from Argos on Saturday . It said on the catolugue that it was a removable battery but when I got home i discovered that it was a sealed unit , like the ipod . This is a big issue as I wanted to carry a spare battery in case I forget to charge the device.
Have I been mis-sold the item and if so can I claim my money back ( even though there's no 16 day money back allowed )0 -
Try it you have nothing to lose. I should not see why they wouldnt issue a refund, esspecially if you can prove that they state it has one (i.e. a print out of the webpage), and you wern't told at the point of purchase (the fact that its still on the website, indicates no instore bullitens will have been raised), they will be able to check in store. Totally depends on who serves you and what their knowledge of Argos policy etc is.0
