The Zen can be populated in Explorer if you want to - that's what I did.
Haven't tried putting other files on it - I'll give it a go and let you know.
EDIT: Just plugged this in and used its own explorer software to put a spreadsheet on it. When you click to open the file in Win XP explorer it copies it to a temp file and then opens the program. So looks like you can use it as a temporary storage device too! Cracking. You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0 -

Thanks, that's good to know. I have one more question. Does anyone know if it copes with Variable Bit Rate (VBR) MP3 files. Maybe I could email someone a file to try...0 -
The Zen comes with a copy of Creative Media Toolbox which includes an audio converter to allow you to convert WAV/WMA/MP3 files to other formats including VBR MP3. Just created a test file using this and copied it to my Zen and it works fine (well it does for Abba, can't speak for other artistsDoes anyone know if it copes with Variable Bit Rate (VBR) MP3 files.

Great thanks, that saves redoing my collection. Guess I'll have to go buy it now.0 -
Having used a creative Zen player for the last 3 years I went out and got this one and am very impressed. My only quibble is that the tracks won't play in order but in alphabectical order if not tagged correctly. Running my mp3s through mp3tagger sports that out though. The drag and drop facility for loading the player is very useful too as is the FM radio..
Very happy over all, even my wife is happy as I passed my old player onto her.0 -
If anyone still wants one of these, there are none in the North West, but in North Wales there are 3 in stock in Caernarfon, and at least 4 in both the Bangor and Holyhead Stores.
It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.
Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.0 -
Got mine. Actually didn't buy it where I intended, as I got called elsewhere today, and there was one is stock there too. So if anyone wants wan in the Midlands, There should be one available for reservation after 10pm tonight at Solihull Sears.
If you want to use some of the player as a removal hard disk with an assoicated drive letter, there's an option on the menu to create a disk, and you can set how much of the drive capacity should be used for this purpose.0 -
Anyone who wants a protective case might like to look at t-dimension4's shop on ebay.co.uk. I just received a clear silicone case (made by jpshk.com) that is excellent quality and great fit. It also comes with an optional belt clip and both short and long lanyard. It was only £3.58 including post from Hong Kong too.
And no I'm not associated with them .....0 -
I got a silicone case from tech focus - a uk company - for about £5 , its great and has a belt loop.0
