    Hi everyone :hello:

Lula and fairysnow you absolutely MUST check out the chartity shops in posher areas of town/county! They are a complete treasure trove when it comes to top-end bargains. I've many a cherished piece (LK Bennett, Viyella, Precis, Jaeger etc) that I've sourced from these kinds of 'upmarket' places. You may not find the absolute designer pieces (athough great Dior find fairysnow!), but you will definitely find the better quality, high-end classics ;)

I rarely buy any of my clothes new, except if I've been lusting after a particular item in a store and then find it on the sale rack :T as you can get so many fab pieces in charity shops!

Have fun looking girls, and share details of your spoils with us!!

  • Hey Lula,

Got a question for you. Would costs for clothes alterations come out of your budget?? I have a lot of clothes that I never wear cause they don't fit me right so instead of buying any more clothes this year I'm going to have them professionally altered and get a whole new wardrobe for not much money.

Pleeeeeeaaaaaase tell me this doesn't come out of my £100 :o)

Hello everyone, have my first clothes purchase of the year to declare - a black silky shift dress, with three large buttons at the top, and short sleeves. £4.50 from a charity shop. I have already worn it twice, to a gig yesterday and today to work with some coloured tights, two people have already said I look really nice and asked if I was going anywhere! :D(taking my DD swimming after work but don't think that counts!) H&M originally, it looks v smart and versatile.

Also bought a brand new with all tags still attached Fantasie bra in my exact size (and I'm a strange one!) for £1.50 . Although that doesn't come off the challenge ;)

I'm seriously considering scouring charity shops in nearby posh town at the weekend ...

Lula-Hula - wow, I'm so pleased you're considering charity shopping as I'm sure I've read about your aversion to the idea previously! I sometimes find the ones in posh towns can be overpriced, although can also be filled with more treasures - let us know how you get on! As you may have worked out through this challenge I love charity shops and all of my friends are amazed by some of the bargains I have found (think unworn Vivienne Westwood skirt with labels and spare buttons still attached for £2.50, brand new Hunter wellies for £5.... but there is a whole other thread dedicated to this!)

I have been rather naughty :( On Friday AND saturday last week i went SHOPPING for CLOTHES.
On Friday I had a bad day so went in Monsoon and spent £47, and £13 in topshop. This could be soaked up, if i was careful for a few weeks and sold one or two items on ebay....
BUT..... I then went into River Island on Saturday (amazingly good sale :$ ) and spent NINTY POUNDS.

So I went through everything last night - if I couldn't justify it, and list enough items on ebay to cover the deficit its going going gone back to the shop. Im proud of myself, as were talking 50 quid river island dresses for six quid!

AND I am going to go trapse around the shops today and hopefully return lots. Looks like I have a 3.50 (trying to decide whether work walking all way hrough town in the ice for 3.50 is worth it lol) from Matalan refund, 8.00 from Asdas refund... 16.00 from Monsoon (would like to rebuy now in 70%off sale!) and 30.00 from River Islands and £7 in Dotty P's refund. so total 65.50 refunds oh dear lol.

I am now SKINT in regards to clothes for at least 2 months lol.

I spent my first £5 today - I bought a cardigan from Primark with my wife who is also on the challenge. It was £10 in total so £5 each.
    Looking forward to wearing it!

I spent my first fiver today - a Silk Spectre t-shirt in HMV that was reduced. And I also got one in my Family Guy DVD but that doesn't count.
