    Wow that's impressive Lemon Jelly!

I haven't spent any more yet... just thinking about what I'm wearing today - grey Wallis trousers I bought the other week (£40 reduced to £8.40), black polo neck jumper bought at the end of last year (£29 reduced to £7), black patent Edina Ronay shoes (£15 from TK Maxx, RRP £80).. so about £150 worth but actually spent £30!

    Why thank you!

I am starting to get ribbed for the condition of 1 or 2 jumpers I have. They're becoming a little, erm, "transparent". I actually plan to use them to line my hanging baskets.:)

Thing is, it is down to the gradual aquisition of loads of stuff! There is a hell of a lot of my stuff which is aged between 8-10 years. But if it ain't worn out I can't bring myself to throw it!:o

Sorry I haven't been around for a while - been rather busy de-cluttering DD2 bedroom and mine and ebaying everything in site!

Well I still haven't bought anything this month so feeling quiet pleased :D

It was my birthday the other week and I received a cheque for £50 - normally I would have spent it on clothes but am putting it to one side for a special girlie weekend early next month - need another £50 and then I can go (hence the frantic ebaying)- the rest of the money will go towards DD2 school trip in Summer.

Anyway have kept away from shops - did go into one of fave charity shops and did not even look at clothes (but I did buy 3 knitting patterns(£1) including one of one of those 80's jumpers with the landscape scene on it - my kids never believed we used to wear them- not sure if I will be making it though! )

And am managing to keep up with my ironing and putting it away -this probably means I have worn more variety of clothes (as I de-cluttered too)than I have done in years!

Keep it up everyone - We can do it!:T

  • Hi, this is my first posting.:j
I have been challenging myself for three years not to buy new clothing ( excluding underwear, shoes, and bathing costumes).
I would like to join your challenge and am trying to spend no more than thirty pounds.

Last year I did a car boot challenge. I would buy new items for 50p and sell clothes I no longer wore for a pound. I got some amazing clothes for 50p, including a new Gap cardigan, and a cream wool M and S cardigan.
Other people bought some bargains from me too. I sold a Jaegar jacket for a pound which I had bought at a charity shop but never worn. :A

I expect most of my budget will go on underwear, bathing suits and one pair of shoes.
It is going to be a tough challenge!:T

    ok confesssion time:eek:

went to town today 1st time in ages cos of awful weather and tho I did spend I am pleased at how restrained I was, really thinking(well mostly!) before openning my purse!

I did go into Next and try on the orange cardi but it gapped at the buttons and I put it back meaning to try the larger size(I know I am so wicked) in the other shop BUT got to thinking I actually have 3 other orange cardis so I don't need another!

after buying(using coupons only) some toiletries at Debs (see other challenge!)I went to East where I just had to buy the skirt (green devore velvet) down from £89 to £10 and then to Marks where I stayed downstairs (to avoid the pretty but un needed undies) and part bought a top as had a gift card so that part not included in spend.

I also resisted the Kew cardi at £54 which would have nearly blown the budget for the year!and the LA top even tho it had 25% off.

so total spend today was £20 leaving me with £65 for the next 10 months:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

I am actually feeling quite good about the challenge as i know I have loads of clothes and to just buy them without thinking is not as exciting as buying on a challenge the items I really want, also even more than ever I am avoiding buying anything full price

OMG what has this challenge done to me????????

just been trying my new things on,why doesn't green go with everything?????when you think of the garden it goes with all colours so how come in my wardrobe it looks awful with most colours????I always end up putting it with brown, orange or mustard(maybe the odd red)it looks yeuk with white/cream/purple/blue/turquoise etc etc etc(have tried them all) then of course what jacket can I wear ??????it is so strange with green,I have some lovely green beads OH bought me and I can never find things to wear with them(luckily he has forgotten all about them)this can be quite useful as I often find myself buying rings on ebay but the only ring he has ever asked about is the one mum left me:rotfl:

anyway the top I bought from Marks is going to go back(looked ok instore?)as with many Marks things it is too see through and the pattern on the skirt I was to wear with it shows through as do the camis.

so good news for me £15 back on to allowance so now £80 left to spend(this may not seem to add up but I paid £10 and £5 on gift card!!!

wish coupons could be used in all shops,I always have them for shops I dont like the clothes in!!!perhaps I will buy food from Marks and then put the money into clothes allowance.mmmmmmmm if I do that enough I could end the year with more money than I started with!!!!!(think I am getting silly now!):rotfl:

I am not doing well. After buying some t-shirts and tops I am down to £60, but the challenge is making me think a lot more about how much I spend.

    Hi all

Well I have finally spent some money on clothes £23.
I don't have many clothes to start with and recently I have taken a dislike to some of my old favourites and have got rid.
So the situation was getting a bit dire and yesterday I bought 3 t-shirts (1 for a pound at Primark) and a M&S top which is the same as one I already have but in a different colour (apologies for shocking lack of adventure!).
Anyway I'm hoping this lot will last me until at least June.
    Good luck and be strong!
August Shopping Challenge. 26/8. Budget £250 Spent £256.81.. £6.81 over. So £0.00 a day left.
