    Good girl :T

I thought of you and that awful SAD affliction that you suffer from, as I woke up this morning. The sun was shining through my bedroom window. In fact, it's still shining as I write to you. We've passed the shortest day of the year and the days are getting longer and brighter. It looks like even Mother Nature is coming to Frugal's (and my) rescue today. :rotfl:

I've had a pile of ironing in my the wash basket since 23rd December and it keeps giving me the evil eye, making me feel guilty. I've just sorted it and lo and behold, I could put away most of it without ironing and the rest took me 30 minutes. Thanks for giving me a kick up the sit-upon, Frugal. :A I needed that.

Frugal I bet your home is neater than mine. I detest the US flylady site. dressed your shoes sorry but what balls i would rather be mopping in my pj's than exhausting myself getting dressed when I don't have too then again i am a self confessed lazy moo.

Bedroom is my nemisis, I would love to get it done for new year though. The way I see it if your house is clean then your doing fine, the clutter can be slowly sorted out.

  • I remember a time when my children were toddlers, I went for about 6 months where I would not answer the door if I did not know who it was the house was that bad.
It just felt like I was cleaning up the same spots every time, and we all just lived in whatever was on top of the laundry pile!
I did not suffer from depression so that made things easier, but I did used to feel very *down* every time I first walked in the front door and saw all the clutter. Like you say coats that had been out grown and all the other stuff that just sat there.
I made this my first job, the hallway and stairs was the first thing that you saw when you opened the door. So that was my priority, at least I could open the door without embarrassment! And I could walk in without that feeling of gloom.

Although to be honest getting the whole house done took about a month, from start to finish. As other people have said *It did not happen in a day, do not expect it to be gone in a day*

    Hey all

Another productive hour since I last posted.:T

    Bedroom.....

The clothes that are too small are in a big bag under the bed ready for when they fit again... soon I hope!

The clothes that are questionable are on my bed ready to try on later after a bath (I confess I am still in my PJs and look dreadful, but hey, my house is looking better!)

The rubbish is all gone :T

I do now have another mountain of washing but all the things we wear regularly will be done today, the rest in the basket and I will attack those over the course of the week.

I also have an ironing pile but it is not too big as I tend to smooth things out as they come out of the tumble! :D Most creases drop out after a while of wearing anyway :D

Everytime I go in my kitchen I am pleased with my tidy space! It looks so much better and motivates me to carry on with upstairs.

I am going to have a short break now and then go upstairs with the vacuum :)

Thanks for all the messages and am glad that this thread is helping others get motivated too :)

Glad to read you are doing well Frugal. Actually I owe you a big thank you. Since reading this thread earlier today I have started work on my hovel by cleaning the bathroom, kitchen and mopping the floors.:j I am now going to start on the huge pile of ironing sitting on the stairs. Tomorrow it's the bedroom which is getting all the attention.

I should be working on making a friends wedding dress though.

    Thanks for the inspiration.

  • You know I really don't know why we feel guilty for schlepping around in our PJs until all hours. Sometimes it's the only way. My lo is 17 months old and some days he's up and dressed, fed, clean and the house tidy but I look like the wild woman of old Borneo in manky pjs and it's 3pm! Other days I might have my clothes on but the house is a tip. The postman is so used to seeing me in my PJs he no longer bats and eyelid!
I say wear the PJs and be proud ;)

OK Its 'me' time now with a nice SC and coke!

I have seriously broken the back of the mess in the house - I didn't manage to vacuum but I can walk across my bedroom now!!!

I will set my 4 alarms (SAD sucks!) and get up tomorrow and get cracking with the last bits. Then all will be well and I shall follow the FlyLady Thread to keep it that way.

It shows how much you can accomplish in a day when you put your mind to it, and with the support of people like you guys.

Thank you so so much. You have inspired and encouraged me and I am one happy bunny tonight because of it :)

My postie is used to seeing me in all states - I am sure he thinks two different women live here!

Funny thing is lots of people say I am a Yummy Mummy!!! They don't know what goes on behind my closed (and tightly locked) doors!

I ignore the door if I don't know who it is!!!!!!!!
