I'm not trying to burst your bubble but my house is fairly ok, but it takes more than half an hour of house work a day to maintain it.
You need to get it done from top to bottom & then spend a good hour a day (or one day a week) maintaining it.
If you only do half an hour a day, you will never conquer it.
It was a start - After making the decision to do something about it, I have started. In just half an hour I did all that. Then I have 2 days to get it ship shape, which I WILL. And after that I can follow the Flylady thread to maintain it.
I was not suggesting that half an hour a day is enough to conquer it, or maintain it - I only made the decision to fix the problem tonight.0 -

Mumofj2 - Urban Dictionary is a real eye opener if you want to know what the latest slang means. I reiterate, it is not child safe, but some of the stuff on there has me in stitches, other stuff has me totally mind boggled in a "do what?!!!" sort of way...I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

Children? How old are they? In this house any child over the age of four or so was (and still is) regarded as part of the labour force. Kids can pick up, empty rubbish bins and fetch and carry even at a young age, and by the time they're ten or so they can do most household tasks that don't involve fire, chemicals or actual decision making. So while you're working out your plan of attack for tomorrow don't forget to think up a list of simple tasks for them to do when they get back. You've got plenty of time before they go back to school and even half an hour out of each child can add up to one heck of a lot of assistance once you count it up for a week or so.
As to the mess, the charity shops will be open again very soon. Remember every item that you donate or chuck out is an item you'll never have to tidy up or put away or clean ever again. Work with a box (for charity shop) and bin bag within easy reach, and use them!Val.0 -
