Don;t worry about those who try and knock your progress  My house is fine, but as we live here, it;s never going to be perfect (and who wants that, anyway) Now that I've been following the Flylady thread for several months, it takes me no more than a couple of hours a week to keep on top of it :T
I'll add this to the current Flylady thread later, as that's where you'll get help to keep on top of it all :j

Good Luck Frugal
As part of my New Years Resolutions I had made the decision that I needed to be more proactive in maintaining my OS ways and plan to joint the Flylady thread and the grocery challenge, to help get me on track.GC: £400/ £00 -
Hope this isnt taken too cheekily because believe me i know how you feel. I call it "being in a guddle" but switch of the PC, put on some of your fave music and get stuck in.
Just imagine how great it will feel when you can sit down at the end of the day with a coffee/tea/wine, relax switch on the PC and come on the MSE bragging about your acheivements for the day. Very satisfactory I think.
Also i think theres a difference between being in a messy house and being in a dirty house, so i find prioritising cleaning in this way helps me. a few piles of clothing dont get to me as much as long as i know there is no piles of dirty dishes lurking in the kitchen lol - but that just might be me

The old "where do I start!" problem. I've found the answer is somewhere. It's easy to put things off, when just getting started and getting stuck in makes all the difference.0

When my house got really messy i started wiv our bedroom, then put all the clutter everywhere else into binsacks and boxes and put in into out room, then the rest of the house was tidy and easy to clean, then i was able to concentrate on a binsack at a time, and didn't move onto the next til that one was done. But it does mean u have to be comf wiv it all in ur bedrm til its sorted out. I found that this made me stay up later tho as i was more determined to get rid! I ebayed what i could and charity shopped the rest. Any rubbish/broken items got rid of straight away. Do have a baby swing at the mo hanging about so may try freecycle (don't know why but can't understand how it works!) as didn't sell thru local paper. Good luck!grocery challenge jan 17 £ / 350.000

I found the timer helped me a lot. This thread has reminded me to get another one. (I either lost it or broke it - I forget.
I'm like that with most things.)
Anyway, I remember starting off with the timer and realising that an overwhelming pile of washing up only took me 6 minutes to clean. Even 5 minute bursts of activity gets stuff done.
Flylady rocks! :TMay all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
I am an advocate of the 80/20 rule - getting 80% of the work done in 20% of the time.
Reading the original description; I'd collect ALL the washing and chuck it into piles in the kitchen. One pile for washing now; another for next week and another for charity shop. Then bag it up and get shot of the stuff you aren't going to wear again [or that the kids aren't going to wear again]. The next week stuff will mainly be leftover summer/autumn wear which you can wash later but get it out of the way.
Then have a good tidy up of a room a day; with a mass washing up/washing surfaces session each morning.
And a good hoover; it really helps to clear things away if you have a bin bag in each room that you can throw rubbish in ready for that trip to the tip.0
