My bedroom, kitchen, dining room and bathroom are PITS, the living room and girls bedrooms are ok as are the landing and hallway.

    Better crack on.

    Morning all

Greenbee - I've got ice covering my living room bay windows this morning - DH said which century are we living in?

Soappie BG vibes for you and I'm glad your DD is safe
No ice on my windows by the time I checked this morning, but then again, I went to physio and sainsbury's first

Lots to do today and tomorrow so I'm ready to leave on Wednesday. Hopefully the snow & ice will be gone by then.

I suggest we all use soappie's experience as a warning:

    • check that you know where the instructions for your boiler are
    • check that the fuse box is accessible and you know how it works
    • bleed radiators & do any other maintenance checks on your heating/hot water system suggested in the instructions (or a DIY book)
    • If you have a condensing boiler, check that the condensate outlet is not obstructed, and that it is insulated (normal pipe insulation works), as if this freezes it kills the boiler
    • if you have gas hot water and a water tank check whether you have an electric immersion heater. If so, test it and make sure it works. If not, consider getting one fitted as an emergency backup.
    • Make sure you have backup heating (oil filled radiator/halogen heater - fan heaters use too much electricity). Oil filled heaters take up more room but are a better investment if you can afford it - get one on wheels with a timer as well as thermostat.
    • Stock up on hot water bottles (how about adding them as stocking fillers :D)
    • Find your thermals/ski wear
    • Make sure you have water/food/blanket/shovel and spare clothing (and those gel handwarmers if you have any) in the car in case you get stuck.
    • top up on wood/kindling/coal if you have a fireplace or stove
Suppose I should do some work now really...

Hi all, sorry bit late but I am well and truly in as much as possible. Thanks pigpen, toots and soappie for keeping us in order x

pigpen, cards, some people like buying their children 'son' cards, she might have even had it since last year/before you get together. I wouldn#t stressy
soappie hope you get sorted soon x
    Happy Birthday 3tabbycats
Pollybear ((hugs)) from a fellow snow/ice hater!
Thanks greenbee you just reminded me I need a new bleeder thingamy, my bedroom pipes are clanging through the night. I need to put some blankies back in the car as DP cleaned my car out ***grr*** and didn't put them back but the towing straps are in to pull others out

Oh speaking of cards, min arrived this morning, thank you all :) I will open them in peace & quiet later

Well DP has decided we're doing upstairs today & downstairs tomorrow, I planned doing downstairs then see if we have time for upstairs (still no tree here) Probably a good idea as I have just had a call from my Mam, she's asked to stay here after work (if she gets there) as it took her 3 hours to do the half hour journey home on Saturday. I live about a mile from her work, she could walk there in about 15 minutes so I can't be awkward & say no, I can see her being here until the snow clears. So we need under DS1s bed clearing so I can get the futon out for her. Hmmmmm about 20 boxes under there.

Cuppa time then get cracking me thinks after I tackle avon, order arrived in a smashed box with 7 items missing, grrr, one being Mam's Christmas present ARGH! Oh and I am so pleased I refused completely to go away in the caravan for Christmas :rotfl: we would not have got anywhere. I think I might empty the DW and do some laundry bunging before we do upstairs. Oh and kick DS2s butt off the Playstation as he's put it on when he is supposed to be doing his room. Got until 4pm as we're supposed to be going to a party (depending on weather) so best get a wiggle on x x
One day I might be more organised...........

In my HHC I continued in my BR including taking everything off my bedside chest of drawers and cleaning the top, pulling them out and retrieving all the stuff that had fallen behind or at the side and cleaned the floor and skirting behind/underneath it - Greenbee - it's a good job you weren't here - you should have seen the size of the spider that was living behind it - sorted underneath the bed on my side, put rubbish bags filled so far in the bin as the binmen are coming today!

Still have loads left to do and I can't actually see my bed now!

Plus, off to the florists to buy Christmas flowers for the people holding the party I am going to this afternoon.

So lovely to see you all again, will come and update later.

While I am here, I remember quite a few of you have teens....any advice for what I should do with a fifteen year old who is refusing to come to the party we've been invited to ( It's not a truely awful thing, there will be quite a few young people there, these are old friends we have known all his life, and he will get to pick up a few presents...sigh....I think I need a new approach to parenting teens)
