Congratulations nikki :j
Got my half of the christmas cake delivered this morning so I finally got to taste it. Cake was OK, marzipan fine, but not totally happy with the icing.
Decided to walk down to nearest shop after lunch - on the road as the pavements are lethal  Got most of the way then realised that although the next stretch of road was 'black' it was also VERY shiny. So I decided not to bother, turned round and came home.
Can't find two weather sites that agree about the coming week.0 -
Congratulations to nikki
We've been invited out for our tea, so the pastry's been frozen and I'll make the pie another day :T
Toots - all jobs done this week, so please may I have some stars when you have a mo :A

Hi everyone,
First time I've been online since Xmas Eve, so I hope everyone had a lovely time.
Big congrats to Nikki, and belated Happy Birthday to PigPen!
Had a good time, great to see the family again & have a bit of a laugh.
Cleaned up the wreckage this morning, which took hardly any time at all, thanks to this thread helping me be on top of it all. Then I had two lovely hours of peace; DD at work, DS at his GF's & DH bobbing down the Derwent. Sat with coffee, my book & the kitten purring on my knee, very restful!
love to all .....0 -
Evening all!
Had a nice day today, although a bit disappointing. Went to Southampton as OH and I were feeling a better today (thanks Diva), and I managed to get a couple of new pillows for £10 in John Lewis, as I'm fed up with the thin excuses for pillows we have at the moment. However, we went to Ikea for coffee and almond cake, to discover that they no longer sell the almond cake! I don't like the look of the other things they sell - a bit too sweet or green lol, so just had a hot chocolate and nothing else. Starbucks had run out of fruit toast, so couldn't have that LadyL (there must be another fruit toast addict in Southampton), so had a couple of chocolate biscuits when I got home that were given to me by old neighbour. Did manage to get a couple of candles in Ikea for SIL's birthday tomorrow - one of them is a tropical fruits one, and smells like fresh mango - yummy, and the other one is an apple one. Hope she likes them. We're off to an all you can eat for £15 chinese buffet tomorrow night for her b'day, which I'm not particularly looking forward to, but hey ho.
OH fell asleep in the car on the way home (I was driving) and is still quite tired now, so I've suggested he have a nap. However, I can hear the TV on in the bedroom, so I suppose he's decided just a lay down is enough.
Just having a simple dinner tonight (fishfingers, vegetable fingers and baked beans) as neither of us are hugely hungry after our fat jacket potatoes at lunch time.
Have meal-planned for the whole week (up to the 3rd), which has depressed me, as I've realised that there is only a week until I go back to work again, and I've got the spring planning to do. I'll have to do some in the next few days, as I'm determined to get some done by NY so I don't have to worry so much about it all.
Congratulations to Nikki on your engagement. One of my friends got her wedding dress in Monsoon reduced to something rediculous like £50 cos it had a small tear in it, which once she'd sewn up, didn't show, and she got her shoes on Ebay for £10. She had a very cheap wedding, so it can be done easily - I know pigpen has experience at organising MS weddings.
MrsChaos I hope things with your DH have improved. I'm here if you need an ear to listen.
Hope the lego situation gets resolved lil_me - I told OH about that today as we went in a few toy shops in Southampton, and he said that it was disgraceful and that you should definitely complain.
toots I hope you are taking things easy and not overdoing things. Big hugs for you.
LadyL hugs for you too.
Well I'd better go and investigate making the dinner in a bit as Casualty is on 8pm-9pm tonight, so quite early. Don't miss it rach! I know you're another fan.

Evening all
One load of washing done this morning, drying on the radiators. It's getting very cold outside now.
DS gone homeDH still dog sitting, though he has been over most of the day. On my own now except for sleeping pets.
I've kept the mess under control. Finished up some turkey today and two lots frozen. I'm going to cook the beef tomorrow. I've never cooked beef before, so fingers crossed.0 -
growly growl, ranty rant
I foolishly agreed to buy the gift cards off the teenagers. I hate Debenhams with a passion but was going to buy my only remaining expenisve habit of Estee Lauder Idealist on line using the two £10 vouchers, a £20 vanilla giftvoucher and pay the balance on my card. You can only use one payment method per order so a £10 voucher can only be used for a £6 purchase given that P&P is £4 making these vouchers essentially useless unless you physically go into a shop. I hate shopping in the city centre nearly as much as I hate Debenhams :mad::mad:!
Congratulations Nikki. Don't set up your gift list at Debenhams ......'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -
nikki2804 congratulations
Poppytime we have had him 9 1/2, he is nearly 11, in the wild he'd be long gone. He's an old fella & better hand fed most now as he is too slow for some of his food. Oldest I am aware of was 14 years, but most don't see 8/9.
juliejim :rotfl: @ the bath wee
sexymouse I**a had it in last time we were in, try Sainsburys, they sold it before too
hex I don't like Debenhams either
Moam wow, they never do that here
Mudbath I haven't had chance to look preoperly but I am going to, we are missing the same so far after years of buying them & being ok. Frustrating.
Ishtar I would mention it, why keep suffering? My Nan used to go to a similar pub that served reheated...slop...she even overcooked everything she made
poobear hope you manage to get out ok, we just have rain now but it's falling on ice
Had a lovely lunch out with friends & an old friend I have not seen for a few years, lovely. Came home to find Woodys tank cold, bother, something not working. After testing we think it is just his heating bulb, still expensive, almost new but we can't remember which shop it came from grr. Will have to get another tomorrow, he has a powerful lightbulb in at the mo (hence we don't think it's his thermostat) to give him some heat. Yes this meant we had to pull the wall unit to bits.....bought new stuff so we didn't have to do that. Even if we were close to MetroHell we decided not to bother with going to sales as the traffic was chaos, I don't need a lot 'now' that I would save much on.
Not too bad here, mainly toys in boxes but trying to be a little more relaxed about it being Christmas. I've put all fresh we won't use in the freezer so no waste. I think maybe cheese and crackers for supper later with some apple, chutney etc. I got some cheese from my farm shop made by these http://www.northumberlandcheese.co.uk/acatalog/index.html it is wonderful!!
Off to the Lego site while I still remember, edit Mudbath this link should help http://us.service.lego.com/en-GB/replacementparts/default.aspxOne day I might be more organised...........

Congratulations Nikki:beer::beer:
Have visited Mil today, we stayed about an hour and a half which was enought to be honest:o DD woke us up 4 times last night and they have their heating up so high that I always want to drop off which I nearly did a few times. Would rather have everyone at my house and do all the work rather than be sitting in someone else's house eating food I don't really like cooked in lard (bleurgh!) Fil won't come though as he says he is too ill, CBA more like it:mad: and we feel obliged to take the grandchildren to him even though we are very willing to fetch them both and take them home again.
Anyway we had a lovely afternoon when we were back home together with some very cute moments with my 20 month old DD and my DS, she kept going up and kissing him and as he is only 4 he obliged, so cute.
I too am itching to take my decs down especially as Dd has broken 4 baubles now:eek::mad:, not used to having a wooden floor and will buy some unbreakable ones next year:rotfl:. Think I might do this tomorrow as I am itching to have a good clean and dust, want to clean the front windows as i havent done them yet since we moved in - 2 weeks and it feels like MY house now which didn't take very long. I'm ready for a new list Piggers!Cross Stitch Challenge Member ?Number 2013 challenge = to complete rest of millenium sampler.0
