congratulations nikki
Stock is smelling goregous, and I managed to strip loads of meat off the bones (despite the fact FiL had already allegedly stripped it!) so turkey soup for us tonight I think. Have been out for lunch and a stroll and heading up to the in laws to see everyone soon. My big burner on the cooker isn't working, i think because it's gummed up with the chilli jam I boiled over, it was working earlier but i think that being on for so long has melted and reset the sugar...Not sure how to get into it enough to clean it, need a steam cleaner really!
Some birthdays onto calender but not all yet. DH and I had a good chat over lunch about the past year and our plans for the coming one, which was good.Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -

Hi all
Big congratulations Nikki!!
Having an easy day, keeping on top of the dishwasher and have done another 2 loads of washing...nowhere to hang it at the moment, but hoping yesterdays washing will be dry soon.
Have cleared out DS's toybox so that his new toys can go in, but I think there needs to be a bit more clearing out before it all fits. Why do babies toys take up so much space??!
Have been press-ganged into going out for a pub lunch tomorrow....MIL won't take no for an answer...it's a long and boring story to be honest, but basically they eat out at this pub most days. The food is mediocre and not actually cooked on the premises, just reheated, I'm not being ungrateful but I'd rather have fish and chips or something...perhaps I should mention it?
It is actually to celebrate BIL's 46th birthday. He still lives at home and to say his mother is overbearing would probably be the understatement of the century. Going to the pub is not his choice as we'd already tentatively arranged to have him over here for lunch....grrr.
Thankfully OH isn't swayed by his mother and can easily stand up to her - BIL on the other hand has never really fully cut the apron strings.
Anyway, enough of that...good to see everyone is ticking along fine and hoping you're enjoying yourselves. (Needless to say, I have only skim-read the thread, so apologies if I've missed anyone who's having a hard time - here's a hug!).
I'm off to play mousetrap with the family then I'll make a turkey pie for tea. Apart from making stock, that'll be the end of the turkey for this year - most years there's always a bit left over, but not this time (thankfully!).
Take care all
D

We then have a festively decorated house over all the Christmas holiday period, when friends and family visit. I really don;t get why poeple want them down so soon
but then I didn;t get why people wanted them up when November was hardly out
Penny. x
I totally agree.
DH has uncluttered two cars into the village today so I can get out tomorrow and DS3 can go skiing again. The snow is coming down thick and fast again so I will have to miss the carol service this afternoon.
nicki Congratulations!
Must go as I am poaching pears.business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

Decluttered lots of rubbish to the dump and stopped at Mr S on the way home - where I've managed to spend about £15 and got over £100 worth of meat, fish & dairy for the freezer. :j Three young lads were very popular with their YS price guns!!
Off to chop and wrap - my freezer will be full and should keep us going for a good few months.
MoamAlthough no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.... life is a WIP.
Snowball says too far away, working hard to bring it forward.0 -
Well done MOAM
Nikki congratulations
Managed to get in the back garden and do a bit but wasn't really in the mood and now my ear is aching again (so should have put a hat on)
JL stuff is all going back - bit of a waste of time really, never mind.
Mince cooking for dinner.
Might see if the DSs want to start a puzzle or a game until I need to do the potatoes. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
Congratulations Nikki and thank you to everyone who's suggested PS2 driving games for DS. I'm going to surf tonight and get one - probably the gran turismo (sp?) one.
Lil_me - did you get any joy from lego over the missing bits. We've been buying sets for the last four years and never had anything missing - always had a few extra bits. This year he's missing three bits so far. I'm quite impressed because he's kept all the extra bits from over the years in a special box and has so far managed to find pieces to fit -I'm definitely going to email lego though.
LL - you're right, I stayed up late last night. We're getting DS a bike for his birthday because we all go cycling a lot. Found a fantastic one at Halfords reduced from £249 to £99. More than we'd usually pay but it does get used most weekends and both sets of grand parents are contributing. What a bargain!
DD on the wii playing wii resort. DS and I making lego starwars (I find the pieces and he builds it), DH tidying his study. This is what Christmas is about.
Big hugs to you all xx
Nearly forgot my other bargain - lots of wrapping paper and Christmas cards should have been £30 for £4. I don't like paying full price for stuff that ends in the bin!!:rotfl:0 -
Mudders - just thinking about your PS2 game freezing - that happened to us once and it was because our machine at the time was one of the older style fatter models and the game was designed for the newer slimmer machines - which machine do you have? Did you ask the techies for help? The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0

mudbath - DS2 says Need for Speed is better than Gran Turismo. Don't ask me, I have no idea.
I've done nothing very special today, I'm immensely tired after rushing around like a lunatic before Christmas. I have however made turkey stock, turkey cushion (Delia's Creamed Turkey en Croute, but known under the other name in this household!) and...
.......tarah!!! I have hemmed one of the curtains!! Only two left to do. I didn't get them done before Christmas as I wanted to, but hey, it doesn't matter that much. I've been debating decorating the boys' room this week. It was done three years ago, but not quite finished, and could do with another coat of paint on the walls now, as well as a new bookshelf...mmm have to see if I can be bothered this week.
nikki- Huge congratulations!
soappie - I have completed all the lists for last week, just haven't had time to post them each day.It is never too late to become what you were always intended to be0
