Dinner has been eaten, chilli jam was yummy, if a bit runny!

Before I go, just wanted to share with you all something which is a happy childhood Christmas memory for me:
Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads.
And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tinny reindeer.

With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!

"Now Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! On, Cupid! on, on Donner and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!"

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky.
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of Toys, and St Nicholas too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St Nicholas came with a bound.

He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot.
A bundle of Toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler, just opening his pack.

His eyes-how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow.

The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook when he laughed, like a bowlful of jelly!

He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself!
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk.
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose!

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he drove out of sight,
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!"

    Friday - CHRISTMAS DAY!
    1. Bag up all the wrapping paper and put it outside!
    2. Delegate pot washing/DW loading!
    3. Slice off the remaining meat and either freeze or refridgerate for tomorrow!
    4. Save remaining cooked veg for stew! It can be frozen if you don't want to eat it in the next few days.. or sling it in the crock pot with the carcass for stock!
    5. Before children go to bed they must stack their new things nicely!
    6. A quick S&S over the kitchen should see it looking fabulous again If you leave it by New year it will be a tip!!
    7. Prepare any run and grab style food for Boxing day.. I know a lot of families have get togethers on the 26th.
    8. Wipe the table/table cloth
    9. Put the best crockery/glasses away
    10. Go play with the children .. eat lots of junk food and delegate as much as possible!!
    11. Quick wipe over the hob should see it sparkling again
    12. Does the breadmaker need to be on for tomorrow?
    13. Start thinking of those resolutions you will be breaking by the middle of January! lol
    14. Don't forget to feed the pets!.. Mine had a bag of turkey giblets they helped themselves to!
    15. Enjoy your day with your loved ones, spare a fewv minutes thought for those who cannot be with us this year and who have lost loved ones.. I wish you all a happy, joyous, trouble-free fabulous New Year!! Without you lot.. I wouldn't be here either xx

well despite my back being hell I have done the spuds and the carrots for tomorrow, cooked the beef (it smells gorgeous, will slice it in the slicer tomorrow when it is cold and then reheat to serve along side the turkey), delivered a last minute card (over the road) and eaten rather too many chocolates :)

(shhh, going back to WW NEXT week)

just enjoying some peace a quiet and time to collect my thoughts
Go hopefully into each new day, enjoy something from every day no matter how small, you never know when it will be your last

Not sure of your circumstances, my sister was in a car accident 2 yrs ago (2nd Dec) she was hit head on with a milk tanker on a country road, so she was in critical care for 6 weeks sedated most of the time, trachy fitted, fed by peg etc then onto high dependancy then a brain injury unit, she had a wee boy of 16 months (at the time) so its been really hard for us all and we will never get the same sister back but she is here with us but at times its really frustrating because of the brain injury and we need to remember thats what is causing it and its not what she would have been like so I know what you are (kinda) going through so ((((big hugs)))

Not long since I got home from my sisters, ended up actually having an ok evening, her meds seem to be settling her now thankfully. I did end up dashing about like a moron today inc picking up stuff for my sister but think we are done..ish....Boys are in bed but not asleep, then wrapping to do.DPs Mum actually bought the boys presents each, one for me too, I am suprised....she did not get one for him however. Regardless one less place to dash to tomorrow, phew. We just need to go to his Dad's which the boys really enjoy, they love great great aunty who will be there telling them stories of years gone by about her & Great Grandad who is no longer with us. Oh I got some Christmas cake from my BIL, he would only eat half of what he had as the others dislike it.

Chameleon is in his tank, we looked after putting him in and could see his shadow wandering about....eeeekkkk....so took the boys out a little earlier while DP put a darker sheet up.

Ham in SC cooking in cola (trying it with cheaper cola being skint) , beef cooking now too which I had not started it until I seen how organised you all were. I have my double oven again this year (ok one is smaller) so I am looking forward to being able to cook easier.

Prep left to do (some can be done tomorrow while I am cooking etc)

    Write cards to take tomorrow

Sort live food out into boxes for everyone (everyone lizardy of course)
