.... Loads of people, loads of old biddys
too! .......
:eek: I just imagined MiL in the 75% sale.
She likes to pick things up, poke through them, make a sour face then remark " how odd, I canna mind WHO would want sic a thing" (she's scottish) before dumping it back on the shelf and stumping off to criticize some other lovely thing. I am expected to follow her agreeing with every sentiment.
75% off day she'd be swept away in a tide of bodiesI can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
still a few toys this morning at 50% off online (although some of them were showing as 75% in sale but OOS - very naughty Mr B ) :j0

Throughout this thread I've seen quite a few posts saying "if you saw a blonde woman in a pink coat with a buggy, that was me" etc etc so I thought; how about a downloadable label to print out and wear during sales like this one? Something along the lines of "MSE Forum Fan" with the url along the bottom. There could be space to add your forum name if you want to.
It'd be interesting to see just how many of us you'd see and nice to identify people you've talked to on here.
I do draw the line, however, at having Quick! Grabbit While You Can attached to my chestMy message to that greedy wunch of bankers:
Debts another fine mess you got us into!
If you see somone who hasn't got a smile, give them one of yours.0 -

Hi, glad to here that so many got things they needed / wanted.
I got to Merry Hill at 8.40 and sat in the car for 10 minutes before deciding to go in to queue, nly to find the store open and shelves emptying fast. Never mind you live and learn.
Does anyone know if there is any stock left at Merry Hill as a friend has asked me and I don't know.

I am sorry but i cant believe people are taking a hatbox back and trying to rebuy cheaper ..... there is saving money and there is going a bit too far. I think is rude actually when some people couldnt get one of these.
I got one when they went down and wouldnt dream of taking it back and putting the SA in that position. Maybe I am just too nice or dont have enough cheek x
As this post is directed at me, please would you be kind enough to explain what exactly is rude about buying something at one price and then when it goes down in price taking it back and buying it back again. For your information, the 2 Boots I frequent do not have a problem in doing this.0 -
I thought I would just give everyone something else to think about whilst enjoying their bargains.
My sis who works for UN was in Haiti for 2 years and is going back in the next couple of weeks with the relief mission. She had told me how poor the people were when she lived there and we as a family have been collecting clothes for the children and taking them to her to send on for a couple of years ( when Woolworths closed she was home and she bought a whole suitcase of t-shirts for 20p each) So perhaps instead of worrying about what people do and do not have people should channel their energy into thinking of those poor people and sending some money to the appeal
instead.
I stopped giving to charity when i found out only 20% reaches its target. 80% ends up in the hands off corrupt politicians, 'charity workers' and even drug cartels etc. Did you notice when the Iceland banks went bust - Billions of pounds were lost by charities who invested there. What right have they got to stash this money in the bank, when someone may have given their last £10, thinking it was being used to save someone?
Having watched people die on the streets of Haiti, because the US government is sat on all the aid, while people within 50 yards of the airport are being shot and dying - its not money thats the problem - its the will of the givernments, who will still be sat around a desk planning how to distribute the aid. Its 10 days since the quake - and still barely a trickle of aid has got out.
And finally, Gordon Brown has generously given many millions in aid , the second largest in the world. Well that was my money and yours, so we have contributed.
I would love to take something myself, so i can see it being handed over - thats different. But my avoiding the sales, which i paid for with points anyway, will not make the slightest difference.0 -
Bargain_Mad wrote: »I was just wondering if there is a list out there anywhere, specifying which giftsets have "Christmas 2009" printed on them or similar, or have points vouchers inside them? It could be tricky giving these sets out throughout the year if the recipient is a snob lol. If there isn't a list, I'm happy to start the ball rolling, and if there is, apologies for duplicating the information!
Sanctuary Relax & Unwind Revival Bag, £15 - competition ends 31/03/2010 on outer sleeve, coupon inside for free body butter wys £10 valid until 31/03/10
Sanctuary Classic Fragrance Set, £15 - competition as above

HTH someone, and would be grateful for any more info! I feel like a sneak thief trying to open the packaging to make sure there's no vouchers inside without leaving a trace:rotfl:
Sanctuary exotic rituals has a voucher for a free body butter inside, expires end of MarchPlease God, help me stop spending!0 -
Hi there,
Oxford Cornmarket Street has hardly anything left
There's a small rack of things by the doors to the main entrance- mainly mugs, a few tins of biscuits and a few boxes of cards- even all of the wrapping paper has gone!
I very much doubt there will be anything left at all by next week.
I haven't been to the Oxford retail park but I have been told there is not much there either.
I was really hoping to get a few pressies bought in the 75% off sale but sadly that is not going to happen this year:www: :: MFi3 ::
