''I stopped giving to charity when i found out only 20% reaches its target. 80% ends up in the hands off corrupt politicians, 'charity workers' and even drug cartels etc. Did you notice when the Iceland banks went bust - Billions of pounds were lost by charities who invested there. What right have they got to stash this money in the bank, when someone may have given their last £10, thinking it was not being used to save someone?''
I dont give to charities anymore either as national governments particularly UK are irresponsible with my tax money so I dont give when BILLIONS is wasted on wars and this year taxpayer will continue to repay for phoney wars and greedy bank system. Sorry Haiti people but you'll get what you'll get.........but if HAITI had oil..... well that a different matter..... Lets fight for it. My Boots savings dont go to charity.0 -
everyone don't react to Rose28454's comments if you view a post a few back she is any ebay seller and has sold 3 hatboxes recently, so her preaching about charity when she is purchasing things and selling them for a profit is a bit hypercritical is she isn't donating all the profit to charity.0

How do you propose to police this then? Where do you draw the line as to who can have what amount of things?
I am not about to justify to anyone why I want to buy what I want to buy. I came out with more carrier bags yesterday than I could carry in one trip.
If I want to fill my cupboards with the stuff and spend the next 5 years working through it myself or give it away as this year's birthday/ Christmas presents then I shall.
If indeed I were a hoarder and had an obsession with lovely packaging and wanted to stack them up in my spare room to go and look at when I felt depressed then I shall.
If I decide I've bought too much and put some on Ebay then I shall.
If I wanted to make a quick buck and flog it all on Ebay then I shall.
This is a free society and many have lost their lives in the fight for our freedom.
You have no right to wish to restrict someone's purchases because you feel that their uses for the items they are buying are not to your standards or liking...
In each of the scenarios above would I have 'more than my fair share' ? Am I depriving another shopper of the chance to buy it?
If I stared at them all sitting in my spare room and they never got used, would that be not fair to the people who didn't get a look in to buy them?
If you want something that everyone else wants you have to take your chances in the 'fight' for it with everyone else.
Genuine question because your post really set me thinking:
Suppose that instead of being a sale of luxury goods the situation was some sort of humanitarian crisis. Say a town was cut off because of a disaster and then a helicopter dropped a bundle of vital food and medical supplies, would your last sentence still stand? My message to that greedy wunch of bankers:
Debts another fine mess you got us into!
If you see somone who hasn't got a smile, give them one of yours.0 -

I wasn't going to say anymore but the previous comment takes the biscuit!
The "people who lead sad and lonely lives" as you put it are those who have "sleepless nights" on an online website filling a basket with more and more unneeded stuff.
And if all you have to be "proud" of is spending money on your so called lovely bargains, then it is indeed a sorry state of affairs..0 -
