I kind of agree about the idea that Boots should put a limit on how much people can buy. Taking 6 or even 10 of the same thing is just wrong and it's not fair on other people. However most of the stuff I got yesterday, I did get 2 of - and it wasn't through greed, nor wanting to make a profit. My husband comes from a HUGE family - he's one of 12 kids, most of them have 3 to 5 kids each, and some of THEM have kids of their own too - so you can imagine how many Christmas and birthday pressies we buy each year!! Already this year there have been 9 birthdays in the family!!

I have read quite a few posts like this, and would like to make one massive moneysaving suggestion. Stop buying presents for EVERYONE in your extended family if it's that big! I wouldn't dream of putting myself under so much stress with that big a family. Secret Santa, buying only for the kids and not the parents etc - lots of families do it.

I only buy for immediate family (no nieces/nephews yet), OH and his mum and close friends. And that's it. No SIL, BIL, colleagues etc. Thank goodness!!!

It'll save you a lot of stress, time shoe leather and money!!!!!!

Got one for my sis but I must be the only person on here that isn't keen on S&G!! lol!
My sister hates it. She says the smell of it makes her feel woozy and she asks me not to wear it if I'm meeting up with her! She particularly can't stand the smell of 'girligo' and says she can smell a mile off if someone has it on in the pub or whatever. This is a girl who wears NOTHING but Chanel No5 though so she's a bit of a perfume snob.

i had pushchair with me yesterday and i couldnt get in anywhere, and no one was moving for me, and im not the sort of person to barge in, as im too poliet!

at one point i knocked into someone with the pushchair as i struggled to get through, for this i apologised to them, and they gave me the dirtiest look asif i had just sh*t on them.

this is what i cant stand. mannors get you nowhere!

    my rant over!

was at teesside park this morning about 10, they had mens fcuk sets, fcuk purses, lots of hot choc mugs, jelly bag sets, loads of the lavander sets and still putting them out, and smaller smelly sets.

no toys at middlesbrough or teesside park.

never got what i was after- the 17 make up set or no7 set.

:rotfl:I wear Chanel No5 occasionally but have lots of different perfumes so probably not a perfume snob exactly.
I found it made my skin a bit itchy and I wasn't keen on the smell (perhaps just the particular products i used)

I've not seen a shower cap that isn't a bit dodgy!

What region are you in? - my Boots was civilised too and quite a few others have posted to say they didn't have too bad a time of it in this years sale

    Hey there!

The cap, I thought it was a bag!lol

I went to the Inverness Boots...I was scared expecting some fight on my hands...but it was like a normal day (plus a few extra people)..the staff were really superb too!..I was at the end of a long queue and the lass behind the photo bit told me to go over there..paid within 4 mins...thats customer service!!

Not much left in Derby (tried Westfield and 2 on retail parks). Saw Chili Pepper bags (bought one, mainly to use as a cabin bag for when I go on holiday!), some of those lavender type sets, lots of chocolate, star trek stuff. A few ITNG toys but thats it.

I have bought a few fair bits over the past day or so, mainly for birthdays/mothers day etc thru the year.
Next Christmas, I have told my family to spend no more than £5 a person on us as thats all we are spending back. Am sick of the cost of Christmas.
Please God, help me stop spending!

  • I agree usually, but my pet hate is the people who see the women with pushchairs and refuse to move their 3+ baskets to one side, so the woman with the pushchair can have a look at the bargains too.

I had a buggy yesterday and upon opening the doors, everyone in the queue behind me saw it as an excuse to push past me, and the women who had opened their binbags to empty the shelves in the doorway didn't care that despite waiting outside for nearly half an hour, they wouldn't even move to let me in the f***ing door, let along let me or the dozen pushing past me have a look, or pick up anything. So yes, I got wholey frustated and after the 20th person rammed into the side of the buggy to get past, road rage got the better of me and I just pushed it through the door running over everyones feet.

I have never done this before, but some people take the p***, yes some use it as a battering ram, but it is a handycap when sales and even normal christmas shopping comes around, I always miss out because nobody will move an inch to let me past, there is only so long you cn stand there being shoved and pushed and tutted at because noone else behind you can get down the aisle either. It took me hlf an hour to get down two aisles to the tills, not looking or grabbing anything, I think everyone to do with being a bit more considerate!

I HATE SHOPPING WITH A BUGGY, BUT I CAN'T STAY IN ALL THE TIME FOR YOUR CONVIENIENCE

rant over, sorry if I offend
couldnt have put it better myself!!!:T

I guess if the price is reduced within the return's window (14 days or whatever it is) there is nothing to stop you doing this

Nothing to say that they have to sell it back to you at the reduced price though - what if the SA then says that it's not going back on the shelf for some reason? I'd only take back like this if I had already purchased the 75% one and had previously bought at 50% if that makes sense??
  • I must admit I'm not keen on the smell of S&G, then again, I really don't like Channel no5 either. :D

Taking the sale off line only may happen, but not really fair on those who do not have a reasonable size Boots anywhere near them, or are housebound etc don't you think? I order online regularly. We do have a Boots in our town who have a small selection of 3 for 2 items in the run up to Christmas, but no toys, stationery etc etc, so if I want anything it is generally bought online.

Boots logic is another thing though. I have just been refunded for a part order I placed in. November. I have been into store 5 times to try to track it down to no avail. (Petrol, parking costs etc) In the end I had to contact Customer services (paying for the 'phone call of course). In the face of all this hassle have I been offered extra points for all my additional trouble & expense?. No. lol. I certainly have not. What is really "amusing me" is that instead they have removed the points they awarded...yes, I know they do this, but to be fair it wasn't my mistake. Not only have they removed the points, they have removed 37. (insert confused smiley here, he seems to have disappeared.) Now, given that they only ever award points in groups of 4 & never round up etc, so if you spend £1.99 you only get 4 points, but if you spend an extra penny you get 8 :(, where on earth has the extra point come from? (The refund was for £9.50)

They also tell me it had to be a refund as items are out of stock. Well, not according to my order history they aren't. However the 3 for 2 offer they were on has now finished, so I guess they are not willing to just replace the items on the same terms even though the order was paid for in November. Hey ho!
