I have read quite a few posts like this, and would like to make one massive moneysaving suggestion. Stop buying presents for EVERYONE in your extended family if it's that big! I wouldn't dream of putting myself under so much stress with that big a family. Secret Santa, buying only for the kids and not the parents etc - lots of families do it.
I only buy for immediate family (no nieces/nephews yet), OH and his mum and close friends. And that's it. No SIL, BIL, colleagues etc. Thank goodness!!!
It'll save you a lot of stress, time shoe leather and money!!!!!!
HTH.
We don't buy for everyone in the family!! We buy for kids/teens up to the age of 18 (which number about 20) as well as a couple of the sisters that DH is closest to. On my side of the family I have to buy for mum, 2 teenage nieces, 2 best mates and a few assorted others.
If I had to buy for every family member I would be buying about 150 presents a year x 2 to add Christmas too
Thanks for the tip but I'm not going to stop buying presents for my family and anyway there would be hell to pay if I did!!0 -
well l too unfortunately had to take the buggy as my hubby had to be at wrk early. My son is a nightmare to go shopping with because he tries to grab at all the things on the shelves and he even once pinched an oap bum!!!!!! (cheeky boy) which l sincerely apologised to her for but thankfully she found it amusing!!!
No one gives you way your sort of stuck between a zillion people who are all pushig and trying to grab at everything, and if you ask anyone to pass you a certain item as you cant reach they just look at you as in "you gotta be joking me im havin it.....laterz"
l absolutely hate taking the pushchair and my lil boy shopping and would never even contemplate on barging into people and clipping ankles with it.
a quick note to giggles, you`v been posting a few ebay links why am l getting the feeling your promotin ur own ebay goods to us??????
NOT a smart move.......:T LLB HONS :T

To all you buggy ladies I took my oh with me to look after my baskets and he helped a couple of ladies with extra bags. However there was a lady with a buggy struggling in the melee and really wanted to offer his help. He would have been happy to hold the buggy while they shopped ( he loves kids and is really good with them) but of course in this day and age people would think he had a motive so I did not offer. However next year any ladies going to Broadmead or Cribbs please let me know beforehand and he can be the buggy holder.0

Just had despatch email from the one playmobil item I ordered once website had calmed down yesterday afternoon, so even though their website is poo, the delivery and despatch seems spot on!
And agree with everyone re pushchairs and not giving space for movement.... Just fit some 10" spikes to front near wheels and folk will shift then0 -
i had pushchair with me yesterday and i couldnt get in anywhere, and no one was moving for me, and im not the sort of person to barge in, as im too poliet!
at one point i knocked into someone with the pushchair as i struggled to get through, for this i apologised to them, and they gave me the dirtiest look asif i had just sh*t on them.
this is what i cant stand. mannors get you nowhere!
my rant over!
Been there, done that!
Hope you get lucky and find what you're looking for - or maybe someone has a spare you could have?? You never know.0 -

Got one for my sis but I must be the only person on here that isn't keen on S&G!! lol!
No, you're notPersonally I think the range is incredibly twee, and the products I've sampled I've not been overly impressed with. I also hate stuff like Cath Kidston (her designs, not her, I'm sure she's a lovely lady
) I'm quite stubborn, and tend to back away from really popular hyped stuff - you know, the things people get obsessive about, or everyone buys, or goes to see etc.
Now I am probably going to find myself banned for being rude about the sainted S&G collectionDFW no.554 - Proud to be dealing with my debts :TDAVID TENNANT CAN PROBE ME WITH HIS SONIC SCREWDRIVER ANYTIME...:AFLYING THE FLAG FOR THE CAMBRIDGE BOOTS TARTS :happyhear0 -
KrispiiDuck wrote: »In part I agree with what you say, however, you must have a much smaller family than I do. I am one of five children - my brothers and sisters have 13 children between them. I also have my Mum, four children, 3 step children, 2 grandchildren and a son-in-law and son's girlfriend to buy for - birthdays and Christmas. I think 10 items isn't going to go very far in my family!! I generally only buy what I want for birthdays and Christmas and sometimes something that I wanted for me!
Personally, I wasn't able to shop yesterday - at home from work illand my online order didn't go through even though I got as far as verified by Visa and getting an order number - it just never appeared in my order history
but thanks to a very good friend and my lovely daughter who got me some things instore, I do have some pressies for this year! Even last year, I was at work when the sale started and had to wait to get into town, so some of the really good stuff was already sold out - it's kind of a matter ofluck and being (able to be) in the right place at the right time - and I'm never there but tagging along some way behind everyone else :rotfl:
I actually meant 10 items of one type not in total, sorry if I didn't make that clear.0 -

I have to agree regarding S&G. I was given a set at Xmas (plain jane) and I thought the hair mask was rubbish (made my hair feel tacky), the shower soap stuff average, the body butter ok but fragrance wasnt outstanding, didnt like the girligo. I think the packaging is novel but it has become severely overhyped, and when I was given a hatbox the other week I put it on ebay at 99p start. The fact it ended up selling for £28 was nothing to do with me, I paid £20 but would have been happy to just get my money back. And postage? I charged what it cost, £8.50. So you see what some sellers must be making on postage alone. Please God, help me stop spending!0
