  • Does anyone know if the fragrance gift sets get reduced much further? I noticed yesterday that they are still selling at 30-50% off. Just I have a couple of birthdays coming up so would hold off buying now if they were likely to come down further.

:rotfl:I feel the same way Juliepink - I can just see my sister's face if I gave her something that obviously came from Boots 75% sale - she would know/ I would know - there is only so many Boots toiletries you can give and recieve but I realise everyone is different and some people love to get these sets all year round.

A bargain is only a bargain if you (or somebody you know :D) would like it!

I agree, I bought stuff last year in the 75% sale without any real idea of why I was buying it.

This year though, I did a reccy beforehand, saw what was there, what I could actually use, and stuck to my list. The way I look at it, the things I've bought for my daughter and nieces especially, are real bargains, and very nice too. They don't, and won't know, that I got 75% off the price, and it doesn't detract from the quality, whether you pay full price or a quarter of the price ;). I am the only Bootser in my family.

I've done the same thing with their other presents so far - Disney stuff at between 60% and 70% off the full price, and wii games etc for a fiver instead of £20. It means they get a lot for the amount of money I've actually spent (even better value when I used my Boots points yesterday :T ). I also made up brilliant Natural Collections toilet bag pressies for them all at Christmas time there, which cost about £3 each full to the brim, with all the NC bargains in Boots over the past year.

I just dont get it. OK stock up for a few birthdays and treat yourself, but buying the xmas shopping for the next 5 years is also a waste of time in my opinion, you will only end up buying more.

Couldn't agree more. This grabbing trolleyfuls of goods is greed , pure and simple and I think it is quite pathetic.

Nobody "needs" a Gok Wan beauty box or whatever the heck it is called and as for setting alarm clocks and dragging small children along to somewhere you know is going to be full of pushing, barging idiots - well it is just beyond me?

People will justify it by saying "spent £60 saved £150 " - still spent £60 that could have stayed in your purse. It's only 3 weeks after Xmas - how much stuff do people need for pity's sake:mad:

I can see where you are coming from, but also think it is nice to be able to possibly get someone something you might not have been able to afford/justify, if you had bought it at full price.

I REALLY object to those who were going in with the intention of then selling it off on eBay, money saving or making that may be but I just don't like the whole ethos of that attitude:o.

I dont think they will as they could probably use them all year round and with valentines soon too. The only ones i know went 75% different were the little ones with 4 different bottles in. Think they were £16 down to £4

I definitely agree that the amount each person can buy instore should be limited.
Getting your oh to hold your basket while you go round is one thing, filling the whole floor of an aisle and just sweeping everything from the shelf onto the floor is another.

I might email boots too. I'm sure it will do zip but maybe then At least I can stop feeling so bitter!
I think we should all email boots and point out just how much of there stuff is now on ebay (anyone any good at writing emails so i can copy it lol)

  • This must be the first year ever I didn't buy anything in their sale. I had a look yesterday but nothing appealed to me, even as presents. I usually buy just for the sake of it, and still have stuff from last year. Common sense prevailed this year. I don't feel it's a true 75% off as all the stuff could be bought 3 for 2

It is actually quite interesting to see different peoples views and it isn't getting my housework done, while I am reading all this. icon7.gif

Whilst I agree with most of what Clairegwen said I don't agree that it is fruitless to complain. It might be fruitless from a personal point of view, if there isn't the stock left there isn't but in the long term if enough people complain the website might improve. I made my mind up last year that I was no longer going to put up with shoddy service, I have had too much of it recently from a variety of places. By making my disatisfaction known to one company recently I had an email from the managing director and a refund of my order. I now feel more confident that I am valued as a customer and it hopefully was a one off and will use them again. If we accept poor service that is what we will get. The website has never worked properly for me since the last revamp when they altered it all completely and could really do with sorting.

As far as the Boots sale goes I have no objection to anyone buying for themselves but blocking whole aisles and clearing whole shelves is really not on. It must make the shop assistants feel uncomfortable too if customers are being aggressive to anyone who comes near them. A limit of 10 of one item per customer online and at the tills is reasonable for most peoples needs and would help prevent that. It would still go pretty quickly but more people would have a chance.

One thing I do agree with Claire on is there are cheaper places than Boots and I will be shopping there this year.

Haiti does certainly put it into perspective but by saving money on my families Christmas and birthday presents, shopping in the sales it frees up some of my money to send to relief funds. Luckily my family are more interested in what the gift is than whether I have bought it reduced.

after reading a few posts above, I totally agree with those people who see "sale" and go a bit crazy!!

Thank you to all who have kept us updated with the start of the sales etc.. if it wasn't for this website, I would have never known! I waited until my lunch hour yesterday (which was a difficult wait hehe) and when I went into boots, it was a bit like a war zone! There were not too many customers but what people had done is open boxes and taken things out and put them into other boxes and paid the cheap price!! This is so wrong and boots should not allow it, so there was a lot of empty boxes and packets open etc)

I spend about £25 yesterday and got quite a lot of goodies! I know everyone is moaning about the Gok set, but I got one and this stuff is really lush! It has a hidden drawer in the gift box with some hand cream, a shower cap and lip balm, as well as the lerge items in the top bit, I was well chuffed to get that for a tenner!

It was worth the wait, it is just a shame that some shoppers ruin things for others but getting greedy!

I hope boots contiues to do this kind sale next year!

I went into the Watford Harlequin store last Friday just to see if there was anything tempting, which there wasn't. Yesterday, when I went to pick up my hatbox in the other Watford store (refund and rebuy cheaper), I picked up 2 12" cuddly toys, a monkey and a bear, for £2.

I never ever get stuff in the Boots sale so I was shocked to see plenty of the Gok sets in the branch next to my office
    Is it any good?
