Boots after-Christmas sales - 75% off now over?

Just been to 2 local boots this morning just testing my luck to see if any stock has been replenished. So for info, in case anyone else want to know, the shelves are as bare as yesterday afternoon.0

I too went into boots in leeds and there were people running in. I ended up with a big basket and trolley full and spent £92 which to me is great. i dont feel like i have to justify myself to people that say it is greed because i bought things here that I WILL save for christmas and birthdays this year. I was speaking to the shop assistant and she said that it will be same stuff on shelves this christmas anyway. So why am i going to buy a gok set for £40 when i got it for £10 yesterday. i saved money. I find it very expensive at christmas to buy all my family presents and end up skint for months before. so to me this is a great idea to spread the cost and not realise i have spent it then when it comes to christmas i will have some money left for seeing friends and taking children out.
I think people that complain that we spend money now obviously have more money than sense.... Sorry if i have gone on a bit but i feel abit peeved that people are on here complaining that people bought lots of stuff.
Some people waited up all night and if they wanted to buy lots of things i think it is there choice x
Can I just ask - are you the same DippyDawn who used to go in AOL quiz chat rooms a few years ago?0 -

Regular MSEers on here are aware now how Boots operate. They are secretive about the sale dates, we know the website is less than reliable and we know there are always going to be people out there trying to beat the system, have little regard for others and will nab everything in sight they see.
We have the choice whether we give Mr B. our hard earned dosh or not. At the end of the day, he doesnt have to reduce all his stock to 75%. If there is something you want that badly, buy it full price or half price. If you can nab it even cheaper later, then get a refund on the original or sell it on, if its that sought after, people will pay for it.
I just think moaning on here, ringing them and emailing them is pretty fruitless. Yes I was one of the lucky ones in that I got some of the stuff I wanted yesterday. I didn't stay up all night, I wasn't asking various members of staff when the sale started, what time they opened etc etc knowing that I would get different answers. I just got into the shops when I could. Last year I was luckier, next year, I might not get anything. Its the luck of the draw I believe.
Put this year down to experience. There are cheaper shops than Boots anyway. I'll got down to Manchester later to see what they have. I don't have high hopes though. And for the rest of the year I will probably shop somewhere else. I'll be there again next year with the same attitude, people getting angry and stressed because they can't get what they want won't get anywhere, there's more to life than this.
I will get off my soap box now
Very true Clairegwen there is more to life than this (for the majority of people I think) - I was off work sick by chance when the Boots 75% sale started last year so I made an order online (started around 9am and eventually managed to get order in around 5pm)
The website was crashing all day and a nightmare as it always is but cos I was poorly had nothing better to do - didn't even bother to go online this year just popped in to my local Boots and picked up 4 items which will probably be given as pressies but may well join last years 75% off Boots stock of with most is still in my pressie cupboard
To be honest I wouldn't have dreamt of staying up all night to wait for the online sale to start just to get a few cheap toiletries/toys etc...
People talking of taking their kids out of school to go instore and help carry stuff?! eh!
I got what I was really after in the 50% off sale with my points - I like toiletries and getting cheap toys for my children but I think there appears to be a certain hysteria connected with Boots sales that spreads far and wide and attracts a fair few nasties (not meaning mser's but with all this talk of snatch and grab and clearing the shelves) :eek:0 -
Last year I did the whole boots thing spent around £100 got lots of bits, the only problem is none of it I REALLY needed, as it was cheap I ended giving them away or as gifts to people I wouldnt normaly give them to. I also poped into a charity shop yesterday and saw 3 boots gift sets from the sale last year, so assuming they were given as gifts the people that recived them didnt want them either..my local small store had 8 gok sets, lots of mini perfumes and ted baker sets, i couldnt even bring myself to buy anything even at 75% off as I just dont need it..If nobody wants it at full price, I feel bad given them as gifts no matter how cheap they were...I mean if I got one of those Gok sets as a gift I would wonder what I had done to upset them...
(sorry not ment to offed just my opioin) With the money I didnt spend I came home and got some lovley duvet covers from John lewis that I really did need !People who live in glass houses shouldnt throw stones...

Yeah, its lovely. Its my bf's dads bday tomorrow so he can have that!
Surprised there havent been much mention of the nice stationery buys to be had!
Yeah the red one. Everyone seems to talk about the smellies but as you say there are some good bargains in stationery, kitchen stuff e.g. burger press, risotto maker, Oil set and also cups.
My ds who is 7 tried to show us how to do the running man, it was so funny, not one to beat about the bush i told him he was not doing it right so oh had to try show him(while i fell about the floor laughing), he still could not get it so i was over the moon to get him a Running man mug and have since bought him the other ones too. I will have a little John Travolta before i know it.
The only down side is he tilts the mug while he has juice in it to see the moves :rotfl:"I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. Completly agree - its not a god given right to get stuff this cheap if you do then great if not get over it and move on.
I did cut back this year as I ended up giving some of last years to charity, I did buy my sister a no7 ulimate box I normally spend £50 on her so will still go and buy her something else of about £35 value so she just gets more for her money rather me feeling cheap LOL0 -

:rotfl:I feel the same way Juliepink - I can just see my sister's face if I gave her something that obviously came from Boots 75% sale - she would know/ I would know - there is only so many Boots toiletries you can give and recieve but I realise everyone is different and some people love to get these sets all year round.
A bargain is only a bargain if you (or somebody you know) would like it!
