Im so annoyed!!!! I phones Merry Hill boots on Tuesday to ask what time they would be opening on the Wednesday and they told me 9am. When i got there after work and therewas nothing there they told me thay had opened at 8am. I could have gone before work if they had told me the truth and as it is i didnt get anything from the 75% sale because everyone beat me to it!!!!!!
I hope you guys had better luck than me! xMoney makes the world go mad, the world go mad, the world go mad! :wall:0 -

For what my opinion is worth, and probably not alot, I agree with a lot of people here and feel items should have a limit of how many a customer can buy. Having said that its the same in the Next sale - I have had things whipped from my pushchair top and hand while browsing. I just wouldnt dare, but alas plenty do !
I got what I wanted max 2 of some items but agree that next year BOOTS HQ will have to adopt a different method to clear xmas stock by playing to the GREED of some shoppers. What I observed yesterday was indeed greed - individuals not picking up one or two of each item but as much as they can hold. Its has to make marketing sense that BOOTS realise that even by increasing the discount to 60% then people will wobble and stock will clear, not in a crazy rush but according to a more supply and demand. Only Boots will know how the 3 for 2 offer wents before and 50% reduction after xmas which is not much of an additional reduction anyway, but BOOTS already capture vital purchasing info through their swip card and offers promotions - 'marketing gimiks' which capture sales. Seeing that going from 50% reduction to 75% is a big increase which is great for the one-off customer like myself who rarely visits boots, but they needs to be a different sales approach next xmas. BOOTS had their oneday sales blitz yesterday but how many shoppers are in today. Gradual price reduction also benefit the more regular boots shopper.0 -
A friend of mine managed to purchase quite a bit of stock yesterday in the Boots Sale - she doesn't ebay it either - but she uses the items for charity events that she organises during the year and the proceeds that are raised from these items go to worthy causes.
She had a few dirty looks but at the end of the day she is helping others to benefit for a better quality of life.0 -
Tbh i dont think the next idea is great. I know people who have shopped with them for years and buy lots of stuff but dont get an invite. I dont think anywhere has a great website.
Boots crashing problems and stock issues
m&s stock issues
Next Give priority but ok after that.
I think the next one is ok once its a normal sale but dont know what it would be like at handling loads of people at a time.
Edited - I have done the Boots christmas sale on line and in store for 3 years now and although it is always so bad i always stay up. Admittidley(sp) the level of stock they have seems to be getting on line is lower every year. In saying that i will stay up next year because i have not had a year yet where my order has not went through.
Oh and remember things can work out cheaper sometime buying them in dec with the different promos that you can combine. Maybe not as cheap as 75% but say 50% - 60%."I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best." — Marilyn Monroepinkladymel wrote: »she hasn't lost the ol' Bootsing magic:D

im absolutley shattered went to bed at 9pm after putting the kids to bed and struggled to get up at 8 this mornin (have a slight headache!!!) anyway l did manage to get my online order through at about 5.45am, then after dropping dd at school headed for Chelmsford town it was pretty quite managed however within 10 minutes of me arriving it got really busy!!!! but luckly they were bringing out stock on the trolleys so managed to grab a large trevor sorbie cream bag and a beautiful mirror jewellery box. Also found lying around No7 brush set and party purse set. Fcuk hatbox and the ted baker purple purses. Most pleased about the Sanctuary ultimate box l brought 2 days ago for £10. I feel I need to put my pennys worth in now!! The problems with the Boots website this year is not really any different to last year, and I doubt, any different to next year.
Regular MSEers on here are aware now how Boots operate. They are secretive about the sale dates, we know the website is less than reliable and we know there are always going to be people out there trying to beat the system, have little regard for others and will nab everything in sight they see.
We have the choice whether we give Mr B. our hard earned dosh or not. At the end of the day, he doesnt have to reduce all his stock to 75%. If there is something you want that badly, buy it full price or half price. If you can nab it even cheaper later, then get a refund on the original or sell it on, if its that sought after, people will pay for it.
I just think moaning on here, ringing them and emailing them is pretty fruitless. Yes I was one of the lucky ones in that I got some of the stuff I wanted yesterday. I didn't stay up all night, I wasn't asking various members of staff when the sale started, what time they opened etc etc knowing that I would get different answers. I just got into the shops when I could. Last year I was luckier, next year, I might not get anything. Its the luck of the draw I believe.
Put this year down to experience. There are cheaper shops than Boots anyway. I'll got down to Manchester later to see what they have. I don't have high hopes though. And for the rest of the year I will probably shop somewhere else. I'll be there again next year with the same attitude, people getting angry and stressed because they can't get what they want won't get anywhere, there's more to life than this.
I will get off my soap box now0 -
