I now have an iphone 3gs and if the earphone socket were slightly wider I would make love to it. It's great. ;)

Using proper protection of course! ;)

I might try that line for a laugh...

    "Dear Sirs,

I wish to return my iphone 3gs for repair under warranty.

I do not think that it is reasonable that my phone should no longer work after it's first mild rogering.

If the phones are not intended to be rogered, then you should not make them so damn sexy.

    Yours sincerely" :D

They even have a little moisture sensor in the earphone jack, so Apple are way ahead of you.

i do think its a status symbol though

I resent that! You can't tell what phone I'm using as I drive by in the Bentley, and unless you had good binoculars, you wouldn't be able to tell that I was using it on the yacht either.

    These stereotypes are most tiresome.

Not sure I'd call it a status symbol. It certainly does say something about the image some owners are trying to project though. Unfortunately for them they're trying to project a 'cool' image but are actually saying 'hey everybody I'm a !!!!!!'.

Thats only a subset of iPhone users obviously, most are just normal people who like the phone for what it can do and don't need to define themselves by what phone they buy.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

Hey Bill, that's a bit harsh, it's only a phone.

The iPhone is like a good woman, expensive but well worth it in the long time ;p
