hehe, being bullied for being "too well dressed" in a small village when i was teenager has nothing to do with drugs.. ..yeah I may have acted a little excessively, I never had an interview for this job... I started as a temp.
Fact is, now I have a family to support... no kids yet but enough on the line, even I realise threatening some retard who thought I was doing coke is at the bottom of my list of things to achieve to further my career. I have too much at stake for this !!!!. I am NOT a knuckle dragging thug.. i look like johnny depp/christian bale according to my friends.... I don't see thug written accross either of them.
Whatever, Xmas ruined, just hope my witnesses help me out with some slander compensation when I get around to filing a case against this a$$hole.
Matt
I wouldn't get around to doing it, i'd do it now, especially while the investigation is going on. Put in the grievence now.0 -
TBH that is ridiculous, and I think if you brought it to his superiors it would not look bad for him, just because he heard you sniffing, its stupid.0

Having read what Matt has told us about the preliminary 'meeting', I suspect that his so-called drug use has been the subject of some discussion amongst his colleagues. A female colleague failed to get his joke and took him seriously when he offered to supply her with drugs. She spoke to other people about it and they took it seriously too. From that point on Matt will have been labelled a druggie and people like the Sales Manager will have been looking for other 'signs and symptoms'. That's my guess.
If Matt has looked wasted, bleary eyed, uncommunicative, drowsy then you can bet that people will have put this down to his so-called druggie lifestyle. If he sniffs a lot then that will be seen as yet another sign. Just a thought, Matt - but do you always look your best when you turn up for work?
I would have expected Matt's manager to speak to him at an early stage about his offer to supply drugs to his female colleague. I would also have expected the manager to interview him if he looked unfit for work or was sniffing a lot. None of that happened.
Had an early interview taken place then all this nonsense about cocaine sniffing would have been cleared up before it had snowballed into a major crisis for Matt and for his employers.0 -

Hi Kay,
I do take pride in my appearance as much as I can at work, but its a grubby engineering company and I liase frequently with the guys on the shop floor, casual dress (ruined with the mandatory wearing of safety boots) is a must. The Sales office do have to make a little bit more of an effort.
I am pale, with long (shoulder length) hair, and I am a little bit more pale in winter, but theres not a great deal I can do about it, I don't live in Australia.
I'm also not a morning person. and can be a little uncommunicative until I've sifted through the mountain of work that is invariably waiting for me, and since my start time is later than everyone else I am usually bombarded with urgent things to do and people to call from when I walk in.
I have no idea whether or not this girl went to the manager about this joke she was too thick to get before or after the work do... So I have no idea if this is relevent.
It would be a little comforting to know exactly what has been said against me, seeing as they had a whole day to get their "evidence" together, so I could have an opportunity to pick apart the lies they have no doubt told.0 -
Um, well Anihilator, as i've said before I appreciate anyone who decides to take the time to post their opinion on here, no matter how controversial etc.
However if someone points something out, or asks a question that they will not know the answer to (because they don't KNOW me) I will try my best to throw in a few answers, and my interpretation.
Some aren't quite as confrontational as yourself, or against me from the off, again, like yourself.0 -
I have been watching this post in the hopes this un-professional manager gets what is coming to him. .
So what if the OP is cocky, arrogant or anything else for that matter (not that I am saying or thinking you are) - the fact is the actions of the manager are not right, no matter what company you work for.
Good luck OP and I hope this 'manager' gets dealt with accordingly.0 -
Wow, this situation is absolutely unbelievable. In my company people joke about drugs fairly frequently and we're in an industry where recreational drug use is fairly common and wouldn't even result in a sacking unless done at work.
It sounds as though this is a case of really bad manager on a power trip who's taking an opportunity to stick it to someone he just doesn't like.
Good luck op - personally I'd not drop this until I had this manager's !!!! on a silver platter.“Don't do it! Stay away from your potential. You'll mess it up, it's potential, leave it. Anyway, it's like your bank balance - you always have a lot less than you think.”

Love that last post!
I've read the whole thread and it seems to me you are a normal young lad in a stressful job whose face doesn't fit. You were daft to get so drunk at your work do but it seems to me they were waiting for an excuse. Could it be your middle age middle class managers are jealous of your ability, youth, wife, career prospects, move to China?
The truth will out as they say.0
