i'm not stirring shoit at all./ he's making out he's so nice and well spoken etc but he has been accused of being aggressive to his manager and i just pointed out he had ######## ### ########. Dont you think there is any relevance to that fact? Also did he tell his employers about ### ##########? I think not so they could probably sack him for that alone.
Again why hasnt he gone and had drug test done yet? I'm sure I would if innocent. Would you not?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
I don't think previous form is relevant here either.
All that matters is what happened on the night, the actual facts, what can be proven, and what the end result is.
Factored into that will inevitably be other issues such as who is hearing the case and how they feel about the OP, witnesses and how much they are prepared to back him up, and the general feeling about how the OP relates to colleagues and how good he is at his job. Maybe all or none of these should be factored into the decision, but human nature makes it practically impossible to eliminate them.0 -
Hello u264047, I've been reading through your posts, and your Sales Manager sounds like he's suffering from 'small man syndrome'. Especially by the comments "he's been around the block". You should ask him to explain. He sounds a complete idiot. Perhaps he has a mental problem. Unfortunately there is always one in any workplace.
None of this is based on any factual evidence, just somebody hearing 'sniffing' in the loos. Quite a normal occurence if you've got a cold, as nobodys going to sit at a party blowing germs everywhere.
I hope you get this sorted out, as this is a really bizarre situation. His allegations are completely unsubstantiated.0 -
OP do you have a problem with me commenting on this thread?
IE woud you like my posts to be deleted or dont you mind if they stay?
Reason I'm asking is that someone round here thinks my post should be deleted but if your happy with them then surely they wont have to delete them.
As i've said before, I don't mind anyone's POV. Its not up to me if they're deleted though, I have no hand in this.
I won't pay much attention to them though if they're filled with negative assertions (see Anihilator) But i will read them and extract what I can.
Anyone that works in HR have an opinion on this? would be interesting to see how they would respond.0 -
Hi Matt
I work in HR and have read through this thread. It would seem to me that there is a bigger issue here, in that an office junior mistakenly took your sarcasm for reality and therefore you seem to have been labelled a "Dealer" not just a "User".
This allegation has far more serious repercussions. If you have been deemed to be drug dealing in work time (even only by a joke), it counts as Gross Misconduct.
With the allegation for using drugs, there is no evidence to suggest this i.e. the Manager didnt actually see you taking drugs and your sniffling can be explained with a cold.
On the other allegation of threatening and aggressive behaviour, it really depends on the witnesses - did they say you were waving fists etc etc? Telling someone to "F" Off would not really be classed as agressive behaviour under the circumstances. However, as already said, it depends on what witnesses have said.
Hope this helps.0 -

I am still curious to why you had to give your manager your life story after he accused you of snorting coke in the loo.0 -
I don't work in HR, but they have no case against you. If you were in a union you could have called them up for advice. Heres a link for Employment Tribunals if thats any help.0

Actually, very shortly after I was made permanent I took my manager to one side and informed him about my conviction (soon to be expired) He said "how many people on a site full of engineers do you think have been done for scrapping" it was then not spoken about again.
I started as a temp 3 years ago and thus never had to fill in an application form etc etc...
I don't see how getting into trouble as a teenager for a fight has anything to do with this. My reponsibilities and family have made me a a person much more rational and focused on my career in the last 4 years.
As for dressing for the job... I am an avid reader of GQ magazine and could ramble on for hours about how great Gucci's Spring/Summer 2010 collection is, and my wardrobe IS flush with designerwear and tailored suits. Thing is, it would be heartbreaking to get them covered in grease and oil and various other non-removable stains walking around the shop floor at a dirty engineering company.
Saying that, noone would accuse me of being 'scruffy'
Hope this helps.
What a stupid thing for a manager to say.
He is implying that your particular group is full of convicted criminals.
Even if it was it is no-one else's business and he should not be spreading such gossip. One of your colleagues could probably do him for slanderWe all evolve - get on with it0 -

I have to disagree with your disagreement.
It was a poor choice of words if he was suggesting it was not a relevant subject for the workplace. We all evolve - get on with it0
