    Morning all,

No more snow here, but yesterdays is still laying, Like Hester I will be out walking later on, and getting some photos.

Yesterday we went to Mr T to get some bits for the weekend, it was a bit manic , dd and i will go again monday to get the extra bits we need for christmas, and then I'm not going again till after, its just too crowded in there.

Also we went to a local town yesterday and I bought a new walking woolly hat, its a bit like a beenie hat but with a peak, so it keeps the rain off my glasses, I have never seem one before, brilliant design for anyone with glasses.

Also in the town was a homeless man selling Big issue, he looked frozen to the bone poor thing, so we got him a cuppa and a mince pie, and gave him a large donation for a big issue, bless him, he had tears in his eyes, it honestly makes you realise how lucky you are :o I dread to think of anyone sleeping rough in these conditions.

Need to have a quick tidy round this morning, hoover through and mop floors, first load of three is in the wm, think I will hang it out today as there is a stiff breeze.

Dinner tonight will be tacos, lunch will be a sandwich whilst out walking, dd is off out with her dad to finish her Xmas shopping and will no doubt have something with chips for lunch

OH is off out to see a mate tonight so it will just be dd and I, will have a nice warm evening in. Going to get my tree down from the loft this weekend and put it up :T

Thanks for all the good wishes re my dad, they have started him on these pills which are meant to help, I suppose I am hoping for a miracle :o ( which I really know is not going to happen )

Please can i ask all of you to put some food and water down for the wild birds, they find it really hard to get anything while its all frozen. Thanks all.

Have good days, and Haribo get out of the tree :D

    O come, all ye faithful,
    Joyful and triumphant,
    O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem;
    Come and behold him,
    Born the King of angels;
O come, let us adore him,
O come, let us adore him,
O Come, let us adore him
    Christ the Lord

N9eav, have a fab holiday
Haribo, are you warm enough? I'm sending extra gloves and hot chocloate to you :D

I'm finally feeling festive :D We went to town yesterday, it starting snowing as we left the house :j Bought 2 huge Boots carrier bags worth of stuff for just under £65 :j Visited my friend's shop, he'd sold some of my cards so I collected the money from those :j Got the beer, wine, bacardi, pop and chocs for my Christmas Eve party, just need to sort a few nibbles now. And a turkey for Christmas Day might be useful. Most of the presents are wrapped, we put the new radiator on in the kitchen (we had a fight with the pipe-bender - we won, it's very toasty in here now) and let four of the piggles run around in the kitchen while I cleaned their cages.

The chickens' drinkers were both frozen over this morning so they were complaining, lol. They soon cheered up when I let them in the kitchen for some hot toast :D

I've decided that 150 tree lights and 15 candles in the lounge aren't grotto-ish enough, so I'm going to get more lights down from the loft and hang them from every available picture, plant and shelf :D

Yesterday's snow looks like a heavy frost, I'm going to crunch my way down the garden in a minute to pick a couple of sprouts. I want to do a taste test to make sure they're ok for Christmas Day :D

    Morning all

Cold, snowy but bright here, have had another light sprinkling of snow, but it's fallen on top of ice so quite slippery everywhere. OH got up early to go to work and woke me as he did so, this is becoming a bit of a habit, must make a mental note that once the Christmas rush is over if he has early starts I won't be waking up at the same time as him! As I was awake I got up and made tea and coffee and then found myself making him a bowl of porridge at 4.15am .....! The things you do for someone when you love them! He's been doing this job 10 years and this is only the 2nd time I've got up and made him breakfast at stupid o'clock. He and all his workmates are absolutely shattered as this is their busiest time of year and the snow could not have come at a worse time - but they all know they are lucky to have jobs in the current situation, so they are all helping each other.

Both DS1 and DS2 schools were shut yesterday, so managed to get up and out early got to the bank and then shopping, supermarket was fantastic, It was empty, so shot round and managed to get all the food for tonight and this week and our Christmas drink, now feel very much better re Christmas as now have a stocked drinks cabinet, wine rack, beer and soft drinks. Fresh meat and fruit and veg to be collected on Christmas Eve.

Haven't wrapped anything so will need to do that - may do that later or Monday night when the kids are at mother in laws whilst me and OH are working.

Had a lovely dinner last night OH had scampi, chips and peas, DS1 and DS2 had chicken, chips and peas, and I had a fish pie, green beans and peas. Bought some reduced Sea Bass yesterday haven't tried it before so am looking forward to that, I really like fish and it's a brilliant diet food (as long as you're careful what you do with it/add to it).

Need to get remaining washing, drying and ironing done today and will go over to mum's to take cards and parcels that can go to her house (they'll be out of the way then!)

Have a menu plan in mind for next week, as I have to work until Wed lunchtime so need to get organised this weekend, we're going to take cards and prezzies to OH's nan and grandad tomorrow, so that will be most of the day taken up. My brother phoned last night to say that they have altered their plans slightly and will be coming to mum and dad's on Boxing Day and would we go mid afternoon so they can see us and spend some time all together, think with dad becoming so poorly so quickly we've all had a wake up call in the last few weeks! Told him that I would go and take the kids - OH may or may not go - he just prefers to be at home - but his family are not big on all getting together etc, we've always done it and I do enjoy it and I don't see why I or the kids have to miss out, I just won't drink (which although I love a drink doesn't particularly bother me).

Need to crack on otherwise I'll be sat on here all day!

Take care those in the snow. Keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

    Good morning guys,

    Aww, bless !!! :rotfl::rotfl:

    funny2.gif

Whoopee!! we have a a light dusting of snow. :j:j All three are out and building a snowman. :snow_laug It's -4 out there at the moment so hopefully the snowman should last a little while.

All 3 are well today, fingers crossed that I and LO don't pick this up. When I spoke to DS1's school yesterday the headmaster told me that 1/4 of the school was out with similar symptoms. (I bet he's glad that it was the end of term!!)

Plans today - nothing exciting - I will join the kids when I've finished this coffee, the usual clean through later, hair cuts for the boys with my clippers, and a snuggle down this afternoon in front of the fire to watch a DVD.

Lunch will be mash and mince with broccoli and carrots, tea will be odds and ends from the freezer with chips.

Haribo - them there homing chickens are sure giving you the run around :rotfl::rotfl: Post soon hun, you are missed. xx

Redruby - hugs to you and yours. xxx

Hugs to anyone else in need today and keep safe and warm out there guys.

    Smoky. xxx

Edit - found this gem which made me giggle. Bucky-christmassongbygwyndragon.gif

Morning all - and a very cold one at that its -2 outside.....(((((((((((((HUGS)))))) if you need one.

We have not had any further snow overnight, the sun id shining brightly, but it 'smells' cold. We are hoping to get out for a short walk this morning. Cannot go far either DD1 or GDG is calling to collect DGD's CV she emailed it to me last night to print off for her.

DS2 did not go to Milton Keynes yesterday to collect his children, he said the raod were manic, he had a load to deliver to Broughton Astley from Corby, it took hin 3 hours to get back to Corby, so children will have to wait for the new year. I am not sure if he is coming over here, he said he would see how the roads were. Where he lives is out in the wilds and he has a farm track to negotaite before he hits the road.........so I await a message from him.

I was sorting through stuff yesterday and discovered a hat scarf and glove set I knitted earlier this year, and another scarf with enough wool left to knit the hat and gloves. Decided to knit the hat and gloves for DD2 and give the first set to DGD. I also found a hat and mitten set for DGS, but I have to finish and package it before Tuesday. Got the hat done, have the mittens started, so hopefully I will make it.

Will not be doing much else except turn the heating up and keep warm.
    Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.
  • Morning all:j
Just spent a delightful hour sitting by the radiator with a cup of coffee catching up on the past few days thread. (Should have been in front of the woodburner but we are out of kindling!!)
WE ARE ON HOLIDAY FROM SCHOOL:j:j:j
I think our school was one of the very few that still opened yesterday - lots of kids missing though. They were all down the park making snowmen while the ones that got to school were not allowed on the school field 'in case they fell and hurt themselves!!!!' We get so little snow in this country now that it should be a law that schools close during snow if only so that the kids can enjoy it - something to tell their grandchildren when snow is a distant memory......

I can now start to think about Christmas. All I have managed to do so far is put up the tree and send a few cards:o Need to make mince pies and sausage rolls (despite having made them all day, every day last week with years 3 and 4 - 120 mince pies can put you off them sometimes:rotfl:)

Thinking of all of you who are poorly, going through a hard time, missing loved ones, celebrating or looking forward to having family home.

Looking forward to joining you all regularly over the next two weeks.

(Just had a call from my sister - she is planning to come up from Brighton on Christmas Day:j So my family will all be together after all!)

    Love to you all

  • Morning everyone.

Not much to report. DS and DD saw the Round Table Santa who comes round collecting for charity in his sleigh. DS told H this morning that the sleigh was being pulled by a Land Rover (which it is :rotfl:) so H had to explain that the reindeer were probably tired and having a rest :D DD was enthralled by the lights on the sleigh and never stopped jabbering.
Meal last night was nice, I seem to be in the dog house though (long story which I shan't bore you with) so feeling less than festive this morning

Anyway supposedly have some of H's family coming round to do the present swap but as per usual none of them appear to be answering any text messages  They do get up my nose with this behaviour. We can't go out or make any plans until we know when they are coming but clearly don't have the courtesy to let us know when that will be

got the usual washing and cleaning to do. I might do some baking if I have a mind to. It's freezing here but with glorious sunshine :D Our very light dusting of snow is still around but where it's melted and frozen it's lethal.

Not read the end of the yesterdays thread so hugs to those that need them.
Have a good Saturday - hope none of you have to venture too close to the shops I bet it manic today!

  • Morning all:santa2:

Following on from yesterday's thread-it's been about an hour and a half for me and OH :D:snow_grin:D After 20 years together it just gets better and better! Weekend mornings -you can't beat 'em;) Fortunately the kids never come into our room ever.

Moving on -the Baileys was lush:drool: No idea how I'm going to make it last till Christmas Day. Thanks for all the tips, we had it over ice. I think I'd like to try it in coffee too.

It is very cold today. I have been out to photograph the frost and a robin that was on the bird table with its feathers all fluffed up against the cold. I'm not going out again though brr..

Today I plan to iron all OH's shirts. He's got a fortnight off so no shirts for a while (and lots of lie-ins:D). The boys' school shirts need doing as well.

Lunch will be a big tomatoey-beany soup with grated cheese and croutons on top.

Supper will be spicy pork meatballs with pasta, rice or spuds not sure which yet. mincemeat bread and butter pud to follow.

Could probably do with making more bread.

    Morning all,

Listen everybody. Can you hear it?? It's rain on my roof. :T :D For how long I have no idea but hope it lasts a bit longer than a few minutes. I took Benny to the vet today. He's got a really bad ear infection. Not the yeast type but another one called suda something. :o He's on tablets & ear drops. Have to take him back in a week. Smells to high heaven but we still love him. :D

Made home made pesto today with our HG basil. Used my mortal & pestle for the first time. It tasted lovely. Had it for tea mixed in with pasta. Although I'm having many happy returns atm as it's repeating on me.

Ruby The tablets do keep in at bay for a little longer. 6 - 12 months if he's lucky.

The rain has stopped. I saw in the news tonight where the Eurostar got stuck in the tunnel. :D That would have been a chilly night.

Hope you have a lovely day. Byeeeeeeeeeeee
