HSsnowmen.gif Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Saturday 19th December. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

    HSsnowwelcome.gifBubbs and Lisa26!
Redruby - I am so so sorry to hear about your dad. Big hugs to you and your mum.
SunnyGirl - I love the Christmas tree smilie you used yesterday and have squirrelled it away to use another time - hope you don't mind. Oh, and how about you keep the kids and some of us take your husband off your hands for an hour or so...smile_tongue.gif?
Lowesy - I love how excited you are about morning sickness! You realise we will all be reminding you of this when you are reallllllllllly fed up with it in a month or three....giggle.gif Oh and my friend who has also worked for the place your husband does for nearly 30 yrs, was turned down too and she is also seriously considering leaving anyway as she had already made plans and isn't looking forward to just being a salesman, which is all they seem to want now.
Taplady - so sorry Janet isn't doing so well, she is in my prayers, and make sure you DO rest for six weeks, it's amazing how drained you will feel for a while.
Esor - Nice to read you hon, and do post with us again soon
Haribo - glad you are Ok, we miss you!
Zippy - Really pleased you got some good feedback, that all sounds really positive.
Curlytop - in some societies, you would be a born again virgin now.. giggle.gif

xmastree.gif The dentist rang at 0845 yesterday and cancelled my appt! Apparently the dentist I was seeing went sick. I haven't been in pain for two days so have taken another appt next Weds. If I had still been suffering I would have insisted on being fitted in somewhere else. I am not sure WHY it isn't hurting but grateful it has stopped for now.

xmastree.gif Managed to get all the extra Christmas presents I bought for my father wrapped and parcelled up, finished his card too but had to wait over night for a part of it to dry so will get that sent today. I also ordered my mother and youngest nephew gifts from M & S that will be delivered directly there. (Mum a Christmas cake and cake stand and my nephew a kids hamper with lots of fun things in it. Both half price) Just have to sort something for the eldest now so going to trawl the online book stores. Still no dex up yet though - in fact they are still in the loft.

xmastree.gif We usually cook our gammon ham joints with Nigellas coke recipe but this year are thinking of doing something different. Am going to do some research today. If all else fails at least we know how delicious the coke one is. Though have to say the cooking liquor is disgusting and we never use it for making anything else despite her saying it makes great soup!

xmastree.gif Ok, so lunch today will be Coronation chicken with the rest of the cooked chicken that was reduced to £1.50 yesterday and dinner will be burgers again from the batch we got reduced in price last week as my OH really fancies them.

So - I hope everyones weekend starts well and make sure you wrap up warm if you are braving the elements! With love, light and festive felicitations for all.

    Morning

Great xmas lunch with people from work yesterday and I got a lovely yankee candle with a little lampshade for it which I lit last night.

I feel a bit disorganised as I usually have half a plan for a saturday (even if that plan is to do nothing!) but my car isn't fixed yet so I'm a bit stuck.

I have a MS job at the local cinema at some point today and i could do with going shopping but I'll have to wait and see if the bloke round the corner gets the radiator swapped - have to take the car round at 10am.

DD is still coughing altho the Doc said its not an infection and just gave her some medicine and calpol and she's sat here with a warm cup of tea as she said that takes her cough away!

I haven't caught up of yesterdays thread yet so I'll do that then I need to get the kitchen sorted - with me not coming in til late on yesterday no one has straightened it up! theres some washing to dry and then i'll brush the floors and give the lounge a quick polish and thats about all in the line of housework that needs done today.

I need to do a meal plan and shopping list so I'll get that done too while the house is fairly quiet.

    Have a good day

  • Morning MSD NPM & all to follow.

Went to bed early last night so I could get up early & attack my rather large (read enormous) to do list - its quite scary actually

Having a cup of tea and a quick surf then will start - loads of washing, ironing, housework, wrapping and paperwork to get through. OH is taking his family's presents over to his parents later. I am not going, have too much to do but mainly because they have really upset him lately and I am keeping my distance. He is always in a bad mood when he is with them then for sometime after - mainly because they are not nice people.

Anyway hopefully DS is off out with him to give me some more peace - DD will just be mooching in her bedroom.

Something easy for tea tonight - am thinking Ikea meatballs - didnt menu plan this week as its been a funny week but am regretting it now.

OH is safely home after driving all night as are our other drivers so that is a big relief.

Anyway really really must get on, have a great Saturday all.

N9eav - safe journey and enjoy your hols.

    morning,

Up early with my little alarm clock in the shape of DS . DD2 has come down too so as not to miss out on anything .

DD's are off to mil/fil's today for tea and going to visit santa, so a few spares hours as long as DS has a nap :D.

not much else on apart from wading through washing and usual clean up

Hope you all have a great day and stay warm xx

  • Morning all
Hope your toothache stays away Diva
JC, funny how things get left when you're not there isn't it.
NPM, hope the swim party goes well.
Peeked out when I got the milk in at 6 & no more snow has fallen, but it's very icy, I want to take the camera & go for a walk to get some snowy pics.
Plans for today include, wrapping for of the chocolates & smellies I was given yesterday to pass them on to other people, move the phones around so I can give my spare phone to DD, she doesn't have one for her landline & make up the spare bed, not that we are expecting visitors, but I'm fed up with going in there & it not looking nice & welcoming.

    The occasional user again...

Morning - and very cold and snowy it is too :j

Yesterday was my most OS Christmas gift making night ever. Spent all of the evening making 75 Nigella Christmas Puddinis and cutting up the cherries to decorate them with (now that was messy). Only need to head out to get some white chocolate for creating the 'snow'. Yes, I did have some that was bought specially but it got 'found' and then got 'eaten' earlier.:confused:

Also made some more Snowman Soups, everything now coated in a very fine layer of drinking chocolate and a couple of mini mallows have rolled under the sofa I think. Those who have had them were thrilled.

All the Christmas muffin mixes are made and decorated with tinsel and now only need to make the chicken liver pate and that's me finished.

Hope everyone is snug and warm and either getting better or staying well.

    :j
