Thanks guys, I'm not too worried about the date now, as it suits us and as we're not marrying til 4pm, if there is anything on that day, it will be over with i.e. usually 11am isn't it?! We'll just treat it as a Friday night out! We're going to see the venue next Saturday, it has been provisionally booked and definitely think it's a goer, ticks all the boxes and we can even marry there. The registry office might be moving so not sure what the new place will be like, will discuss that nearer the time once we find out. Must confirm they have our booking though as she didn't take any money til they know where moving to.
Well, I have a major dilemma, had someone out to value my house, got the price I was expecting BUT the thing is now, when to sell. Do I a) put it up right away - need £700 to start off with, b) wait til after Christmas, c) wait til March time when ALL my debt should be gone, d) wait til we are married in November (or just before), or e) marry in November, stay in the house for six months max (and save up)??
a) is a bit of a problem as I need to pay my insurance this month
b) isn't bad as it gets Christmas out the way (and MOT is due in December)
c) not bad either
d) the problem with this is that if I sell earlier I can move back to my mum's, if already married, where are we going to live??
d) probably the best solution all round - the problem with everything apart from option a, is the house we like will be long gone, boo!
On the positive side, we (well I) will be debt free and have savings behind us, we are still saving for a cruise and a wedding so maybe we'd be taking on too much. On another positive note, we will get a mortgage no problem, yeah! Called the bank and the guy said it's just a matter of when, we will defo get it. Just need to keep him posted as to what we're doing, might email him back actually and ask if the how long the offer stands, sure he said it will be ok for as long as we need it.
Oh the joys of trying to organise a wedding/selling and buying houses etc.0 -
Alll sounds very excting but lots of decisions to make. Why don't you try a list of pros and cons. Does OH also e to sell his place? Maybe you can move into one of your properties and sell the other? Maybe you can sell both and then rent for a few months - it means that you are in an ideal position to move when you do decide to buy.
Decisions decisions!
Also have to say how jealous I am of your get up and go. I too need to get an estate agent round but keep putting it off as the flat is soooo cluttered. I'm not ready to sell just yet - i want a rough valuation so that I have an idea of how any improvements I make will affect the price. Looks like I'll be chasing you on the house selling front! :rotfl:
I'll be interested to see what you decide.
Urg x x0 -
Thanks urg, I know decisions, decisions! You see I'm about 95% ready to sell, the other 5% is split between being emotionally and financially ready to sell. It's my first ever house and I love it, it just isn't big enough for two people to live there full time, it's ok for the weekend when OH is down. I think I have made my decision but will discuss with OH on Friday. He is back with his parents as he needed to help them out financially (they were going to sell and rent back from one of those scam places who rip you off), so he is helping with their mortgage.
On a negative note, my debt has gone up, I've bought my last item off ebay though and going to change my account from my visa to my debit card so I won't be so quick to buy things. It's stuff I've been needing though with a wee bit of extravagance. Also car insurance needs to go on this month, so looks like the six months 0% will be used after all. Will update siggy soon.
I know what you mean with the de-cluttering urg, my place is just way too small for all my stuff, really need to have a major clear-out (and starting selling than buying on ebay). We'll have a race, GO........0 -
Oops not so good, my debt has increased by £222.72 so now sitting at £2,882.22, so once I add on my car insurance of £275, my monthly payments over the six months will be approx £526. Should still be on course to pay off. Think we are going to not spend too much at Christmas this year either, got a budget of £300 but if can spend £250 (maybe even £200) I'll be happy!0

You're on!
I challenge you to declutter x items from your house by the end of the month. I decided on 100 items and have identified 27 items already. I'll let you choose how many you'll aim for as I already have a head start!
It's great that you have a plan of what you want to do. It's really weird as my OH is also in a similar position and is helping his folks too and this will continue for another year which leaves me to focus on getting our place sorted and ready for sale.

You're on urg! Although I might have to go for de-cluttering 100 items by the end of the year, unless old paperwork etc., counts!
Well after speaking to OH, my sisters/mum, I've decided that the best option re the house is between Option C and Option D. Option C ticks all the right boxes, my credit cards should be paid off, will never be paid completely but I'm hoping to use my Barclaycard as my main card and pay it off every month, once clear I will set up my DD to pay off the full balance. Just now the DD is for the minimum (so I don't miss payments), then I pay whatever else I can. Once debt free I should be able to save more. Ideally it will be after March and just before we're married, hence hovering around Option D too. It makes more sense for us to hopefully sell and buy before the wedding as once we're both living in my house it means us having to find somewhere to live once it's sold. Renting is a possibility. Either way, more money requires to be saved.
Well the one little bit of bad news, I got weighed at work yesterday and have put on 2lbs, boo! I thought I had as I've had countless lattes at work the last week or so, two cream cakes at a meeting on Thursday and loads of choccies as well. Got a top off ebay today, size 14 M&S one and it's fricking too tight! I can get it zipped but can hardly breathe, so I desperately need to cut down.
Doesn't help that I realised that when I went on my last cruise (Nov 2007) I wore a size 12 dress and was 9st 3oz (I know as I got a medical done Jul 2007) and I am now exactly 1 stone heavier and I am feeling it. I never felt 'skinny' before or even looked 'skinny' but I felt better IYSWIM. I'm getting knee problems and also my breasticles are flipping sore again, one of my signs I'm too heavy! My skin is terrible, my tummy hurts (too many lattes) and I generally feel yuk! Wish Boots still did the detox tabs I used last year, felt great doing that detox - suppose should've kept it up eh?!
Anyway just a wee bit of feeling sorry for myself. On a positive note, made it to Body Pump today and worked hard, thinking of asking if they do personal training, although I really dislike the gym, prefer the classes. Well my first goal is to lose the 2lbs I've gained, will have a plan of action soon. Wish me luck!0 -
Ok, so have just started reading The Secret and have decided it is all true and that you get what you deserve! For instance, I bought a dress off ebay, messaged the seller with a question (was a bit worried as she didn't have 100% feedback) and she has not replied. Probably because I keep worrying I'm not going to get the dress, so my new attitude is that the dress will arrive, it will be fabulous, if not, and I'm not trying to be negative, I will open a case and get money back, problem solved. I will just wait on it arriving and it will! Sounds great eh!
Anyway, it will be hard to try and be positive all the time, but I'm going to try, just getting to the bit about losing weight so off to read that part - after I have a healthy breakfast of course......0 -
Well, not done too much today, went to Asda and spent £43 stocking up, got some fruit for work and stuff for dinners during the week. Have so far had an ok breakfast, lunch and dinner. Had Weetabix for breakfast, a toasted cinnamon and raisin bagel for lunch, mashed potatoes, cabbage, grilled bacon and beans for dinner and some sweet pea pods as a snack. Not great but not bad either.
Going to fill up a bottle of water to sip on as I've decided that tea is my weakness when it comes to snacking. There is nothing better than a nice cuppa and a biccie. But I have already had a cup of tea with my bagel and my plan is to only have 3 cups a day, maybe 4 max. Found the detox tabs on the Boots website but will try out my own healthy eating before I resort to buying them again - they are £13, eek!
Will try and get my clothes sorted for work for tomorrow at the least, really must try and plan ahead so I can maybe get some time in the morning to have a decent breakfast, wish me luck, I'm gonna need it.0 -
Ok, so got a wash done and hung up, did the mountain of dishes. Have eaten two toasted mini pancakes (and frozen the rest for snacks), with a cuppa and now gonna watch x factor. Said I wasn't watching but want to see who gets put out tonight, although it's the judges choice so it will be a fix as usual.
Have made ham sarnies for work tomorrow, fancy ham I bought last week and there was only 3 SLICES, !!!!!!! So if I can manage a bagel in the morning, I will take sarnies, a yoghurt, some fruit and a cereal bar (for my choc addiction), and if I remember, my bottle of water. Must drink more water, must drink more water......
P.S. Will also TRY and iron clothes for tomorrow, might do that at the adverts, better go, it's on.......0 -
