Evening all,
Not been around for a few days, been trying to sort my finances for the final furlong to being debt free. In the last two days I've had to lend money to my OH and my friend (only til Wednesday and Thursday respectively), when they get paid. And only £20 each, as I'm pretty skinto myself. I made OH come into Glasgow with me on Saturday to return the too small dress, then suggested food and some drinks, forgetting that he didn't get paid til Wednesday, so I lent him £20 til then. My friend called tonight and asked as well as she doesn't get paid til I do but her OH gets paid Thursday - they are struggling since he lost his job and she's been very kind to me in the past. I don't mind as I know they are good for it.
Anyway, only 12 days to go til I have £2300 winging it's way to my bank account, I will pay my last loan payment on 30th Sept then ask for a settlement figure, can't wait to get rid as it'll be a whole 18 months early. I will then owe (after making Sept payments) approx £2500 to my two credit cards, I have been naughty though and applied for a Play CC (been accepted though so all good), where I will transfer my £2500 onto. It's at 0% for six months and only 1.5% transfer fee, but I think I could pay it off in either 4 - 5 months, December was a bit optimistic. I swore I wouldn't get another card to BT which is why I picked a six month one, means I'm not tempted to drag my payments out longer. So looks like January or February will be my DFD, by Christmas though I should only owe about £500, feels so good.
Then it's onto the saving with a vengeance (sp?). If we do manage to marry next November, OH will move in with me and we will save for another six months to a year before attempting to buy. A house beside me is still up for sale so not looking good, we'll keep an eye out for part exchange.
Well better go, as got a washing to hang up before bed. Might have a wee cuppa with a lovely slice of banana bread as well. Night all x0 -

Morning Swinstie,
Wow- loan free soon and debt free by early in 2011! That'd brilliant. You are really on the last part of the journey. Keep going!
Waving!

Thanks guys, have still been a bit spendy recently but it's all been weddingy related things (apart from the blue shoes which I now need to pay myself), so once we have some savings in the bank, I'll get the money I've already spent back. So far it's only around £130 with another £70 planned spends.
I can feel the debt free vibe coming and it feels great, I have not been debt free since I was 18! Debt has been a lot higher, reaching £25K+ at one point but I know if I hadn't been so stupid I'd have been debt free years ago. The thing is, it's easy to say save up for everything, but it's not always possible, should be from now on, but once we get our house we could potentially be back in the red again, although at least this time it will be joint debt and not all mines.
Can't remember if I posted about packing away all my toiletries but it made me sick that I filled a biggish box with perfumes and toiletries and I still have a lot in my wardrobe. Will need to update my list so I don't buy something thinking I've run out. Also need a plan of action to get the house ship-shape, firstly for OH moving in next year and secondly for selling up eventually. Went to Asda last night and could kick myself as I needed a shower curtain (paid on Visa), so now have to wait til pay-day to buy it. Roll on my days off in a couple of weeks as I really need to get in gear.
Have a good day everyone!0 -
Ok, so have not made the gym tonight AGAIN! I've been sniffling all day today but initially thought it was the perfume I sprayed at work, but nope, still got the sniffles and starting to feel a bit bleurgh.
Had something said to me as well that annoyed the hell out of me, basically it's been noted that myself and the girl who works with me part-time, talk too much and work isn't being done! !!!!!!! The girl in question is very nice but very chatty and has also been pulled up at her other job for surprise surprise, talking too much. The point is that we both can multi-task, i.e. talk and work but I know myself that I personally don't get as much work done when she is there, BUT if they have a problem with it then they should speak to BOTH of us, not just mention it to me and make me feel bad. I'm not her boss, I didn't ask for her to be working with me, so I shouldn't be expected to talk to her about it - what am I supposed to say - hey shut up, whenever she speaks to me! Argh, flipping men! OK, rant over, gonna make some dinner now.0 -
Is it payday yet???????????
I really want to get to this months payday so I can get my payments made and get my settlement figure for my loan.
Not had a good week at work so far and really want out of here, just little niggly things that are getting to me. Not enough to pack it in (also not stupid enough to do that), but once myself and OH have our house - means a 27 mile each drive to work for me, then I'm gonna look for something nearer our house. Don't need the travel or the hassle BUT I will stay here and once debt free, squirrel away as much money as possible. You know it ain't gonna happen though, don't ya?!0 -
Hi Swinstie
Just want to say I'm still reading your diary and am VERY impressed with how well you're doing! The shoes are gorgeous - hope you can walk in them! I know my days of walking in heels that high have well and truly gone; I stick to wedges these days! Re your chatty colleague - I have to restrain myself from talking too much although others in our office don't seem to. I've been told my laugh can be heard on the other wing of our office floor (and it's a big office)! Don't care as it's better than being told they can hear me moaning! Hope it gets sorted.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
Hi Swinstie
Congrats on your engagement and well done on your debt management.
Your shoes look lovely, remember though, you feet will swell up in the heat!!!
I got married in October 08 in Antigua and wore sparkly flipflops under my dress (£3 from Tesco). You couldn't see my feet under the dress and they were sooooo comfy! We got married on the beach and the flipflops were a great idea.
Enjoying your Diary.0 -
Hi romylou and Sun Addict, glad to see I'm not rambling to myself, although sometimes I bore myself so no doubt bore others too!
Can't wait to get debt free SA, maximum six months from now, so looking at February 11, have some expenditures coming up before the end of the year, namely car insurance, MOT and now don't laugh, an Urquhart tour oop North! Car insurance I have £200 saved up, should be £240 but I slacked a bit, MOT have £150 saved between this and road tax (not due til April) and the weekend away, will be paid by savings. Going with one of my sisters and my mum, we used to do loads of stuff like that, but haven't for ages, should be nice but it's at the end of November so will be freeeeezzziing.
So romylou, Antigua eh? Just checked our cruise and it's not going there, boo! Well, I did think of flip flops but my dress is just below the knee so you would see them, however I bought yet another pair of shoes off ebay, they are perfect. Plum coloured (forgetting my something blue) and with only a 2.5" heel, the dress needed a bit of a heel. Although I will take flip flops with me too.
Got some info from someone who got married in Barbados and she said it took about 3 second in a dingy room next to convicts in for drug offences! Wow, so looking forward to it, think it will be hilarious though. And she's given me an email address for a photographer who takes great piccies, albeit she said, a bit Grease like - actually I don't know what she means by that, all she said was cheesy pics, Mmmmmm
Anyway, off for a cuppa, nice to see you again SA, and hope you and romylou keep joining me!0
