Thanks guys! Definitely off to Edinburgh this Saturday the 24th, can't wait to wear my ring at last, it's so hard still not telling anyone yet. We had a brief discussion this weekend about when, where and how we'd get married. We both decided that it would be at least a year but no more than 2 years i.e. no later than July 2012, for many reasons:
a) we don't live together at present, so we need to concentrate on buying a house first
b) we need to save money for estate agent fees etc., for when we do get a house
c) it would be no earlier than the cruise next November as we could combine that as a honeymoon, or even getting married onboard
d) we're definitely doing it on our own, or going abroad
His mum is getting a bit dotery and as much as he'd like her there, he doesn't want the hassle, not as bad as it sounds. I don't think my mum would mind too much, she'd just be happy we got married. We have agreed on a big party afterwards, and also that we don't want to be spending the equivalent of a small car. I'd love to do it as cheaply as possible actually cos I'd rather spend the money on a house and honeymoon. Felt a bit strange discussing these things but he did say he'd been thinking about it too, the main thing is we have a house as it would be weird being married, then me coming home to my house and him to his, plus I need to lose weight so he can carry me over the threshold!!
Been watching Four Weddings, can't believe some of the costs involved, but we will make it a fab day whenever we decide to do it, exciting stuff (and it has cured my shopping addiction)!!0 -
Ho-hum, the servers are down at work and everything I pick up I can't do as I need access to files on the server - maybe I could go home?! Or as one of the guys so kindly pointed out, there is a ton of filing needing done, damnation!!
Had a wee look on the internet at lunch-time and I'm tempted to go looking in the sales, the problem is a) I have no cash (but a credit card) b) it's raining c) I REALLY don't need anything but at the same time I'm scared incase I see a 'bargain'. I know I really should go home, I actually promised myself I wouldn't buy anything else until I had another clear-out, I really have too much clothes, so I'm guessing the best bet is to go home and let the temptation pass me by. It's the servers fault, I wouldn't have looked otherwise!

Evening all, not much else to report, except that I did go shopping in the sales the other day and I did spend, bad Swinstie! I got a pair of black skinny jeans, grey suede (very comfy) pumps and a lovely top from Warehouse, a floral scarf and a couple of corsages from New Look, I was on the look-out for a navy blazer (are people still wearing these??), to replace a navy crop jacket I have that is washed out. I might not bother though, unless I can get it in the sale.
The jeans/top and possibly the pumps I will be wearing to Edinburgh on Saturday, unless it is raining of course, wanted a new outfit as it's a special occasion.
Pay-day on Friday so will need to re-budget as myself and OH are opening a joint savings account for house purchase/wedding, not sure how much yet but I should be able to put more in after my savings expire in September. Extra money, yeah!
Well gonna hop off to bed, got a rubbish sleep last night and don't want a repeat. Nite all x0 -
Morning all,
It's Friday, yeehah!
Getting really nervous now about tomorrow i.e. Edinburgh/proposal and all that, have been eating like a horse then feeling ill, it's definitely nerves. Going for an indian tonight, myself, OH and another couple - we got a 20% voucher the last time we went. So being bad today and tonight as my diet seriously starts in earnest tomorrow.
Went to Zumba last night, as I decided that Balance and Pump weren't enough, wasn't doing enough cardio, been going a few weeks now but I'm feeling even more un-fit. Think maybe my hayfever has gone into my chest as surely I should be feeling a teensy bit less out of breath, strange!
Anyway it's lovely today so fingers crossed for the weekend too.
It was lovely yesterday too, went to see a guy in work's daughter who was getting married yesterday, goodness that wedding (from what I seen) must have cost a bomb! The MofB's outfit supposedly cost £2K, it was lovely but nothing special, goodness knows what the bride's dress cost - it was lovely but HUGE!
Anyway have a great day everyone - ooh just realised it's also PAYDAY, yeah!!!!0 -
Hi Swinstie
Hope you have a great weekend in Edinburgh! Last day of being young, free and single eh! Tomorrow you will officially be a fiancee!I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
Morning all,
Well we finally did it, myself and OH are officially engaged :j:j
Had a brilliant day in Edinburgh, went to the pub we met in 3 years ago and he proposed, it was a funny one though, he got a bit tongue-tied and thrust the ring box at me :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
It was very sweet though, he's very romantic but also quite shy, I'm the same though, would've been mortified if he had got down on one knee!
Be back at lunch-time, getting work thrust upon me, boo!0 -
Well it was pay-day on Friday and have just totted up my payments etc., my debt as it stands is at £5,991, just a tad under £6K, but that's a total achievement for me - £8.5K paid off since Oct 2008!!!
Approximately £400 a month, in actual facts it's been a lot more some months but I also added quite a bit so if I hadn't had to buy anything I'd probably have paid it all months ago, but hey I need to live as well.
If I keep paying my loan til the end, by the end of the year my loan will be at £2183, which means I really need to pay around £600 to clear the rest of the debt, I'm paying around £500 just now, if it's paid brilliant, if not I'm not going to beat myself up about it.0 -
What a lovely, lovely proposal :-) Im sure you have many years of happiness ahead of you.
