    Hey Swinstie

Just poppiing in to catch up.

You must be so relieved after the scare!

It must so be so nice to see a lovely house. Do you really think you could manage living with your mum again. I know others who have done it and struggled.

    Waving to you

Morning all *waving at you too urg*

It was a huge relief, makes you feel kind of vunerable and in my case that life is too short so what do I do, start spending again, duh! I'm exaggerating a bit but it's made me realise that I need to enjoy my life more. Obviously I have just been on holiday, but this trying to pay off everything I owe is starting to get to me big time. I feel like every penny is a prisoner i.e. my friend asked me to get her cigarettes on holiday, she gave me £25, they actually cost 34 Euros which worked out at £29. I told her this but she's not given me the £4 and I'm stressing about it !!!!!!, it's only £4!!!!

Also, my Mum used my Ladbrokes money to play bingo (I had about £17 but couldn't be bothered going on it), she played, won £14 but then spent it all and left me with nothing, I was stressing about this too but do you know what, it wasn't even my £17, it was free-play money! The poor thing thinks she needs to pay it back (actually I'm wynding her up on that one for now)! I need to get a better attitude to money and not feel like such a tight-wad which is what I feel I've become. No wonder I have spending binges, then feel bad, it's a vicious cycle!

Okay, that was a wee outburst! So my first plan of action is to try and not spend on my CC until it has seriously reduced. My 0% one is at £1750, 0% runs out in September but I have some savings to pay either half or all of it off, should be at £1K by then.

Barclaycard is at £1800, so will be chipping away at that throughout each month, I got some back-pay etc., in this months salary so whatever is left by next pay-day will get whacked onto this CC. The loan is just over £3K and I am definitely letting this run it's course.

I need to have some savings incase another house does come up, OH seen the house I loved but it wasn't where I thought it was (right on a main road), so not bothered about it now.

Anyway, have been invited for a free coffee, be back later!

    Hi all,

Been neglecting my diary for a wee bit, but had to pop in with some news - me and OH got engaged!

We've bought the ring and going to go to Edinburgh (where we met) so he can officially propose :D We've talked about it for a couple of months and went looking for rings, gosh couldn't believe how expensive they were and of course as I have a nickel allergy, it had to be in platinum. I managed to find one for a fab price and it's lovely. It was described as elegant (read small) but I am not a bling person anyway so it suits me fine. I love it, needs resizing though, and can't wait to wear it!

No plans for a wedding yet as we are going to concentrate on getting a house first. Not sure the cruise wedding is what we want to do, but will discuss that later. Okay, going to go and calm down a bit now :D

    Evening all,

Thank you for all your congratulations! Got my ring back after the re-sizing, had a bit of a wobbly about it not fitting still, but think I was just too warm from walking fast (had to sneak away whilst shopping with sister), cos no-one else knows yet. We also bought OH his engagement offering, didn't think he'd wear a ring, so I bought him a nice watch. Doesn't sound too spectacular but as he only has one dressyish watch and doesn't wear one to work, then it was an ideal offering.

We will probably go to Edinburgh a week on Saturday, not sure if staying over or not, will decide nearer the time. He did mention (through his panic I think) that we'd have a semi-long engagement, however I mentioned that I have a couple of reasons for it not being too long in that I'd like his mum and dad and my mum to be there and as they aren't getting any younger, we might not have the luxury of waiting for too long. Oh, but long enough so I can lose some weight, ha!

Anyway first thing first is to officially get engaged, tell family and friends then take it from there. Exciting stuff, I've even been taking clothes back for refunds in a final bid to get rid of as much debt as possible. How's that for motivation!

    Well nite all xx

Morning all, it's Fair Friday (and it's peeing down) what's new there then!

Well not much planned for this weekend, hoping the weather clears up so can get some of the garden done. OH forgot to bring down the mesh stuff for the garden to put under some bark, can't remember what the heck it's called now. Need to get rid of the tree (plant) growing up the side of the house, it's like a beanstalk, keep thinking I'm going to see Jack running around out there.

Only spent £1 so far today but I found it so doesn't count, have got £62 to do me til payday next Friday, so wondering if I can live on that for a week. Got loads of food, should only need some milk, bread, yoghurts and fruit for next week at work. Hopefully will have a quiet one this weekend, with next weekend being off to Edinburgh, can't wait!

Well suppose better get back to work now, it's been really busy so bye for now x

Me again, ok so just realised that have not updated my amounts properly, can't find the last update but as it stands, my total debt as of today is £6,573, which is as follows:

    £3,516 - CC x 2
    £3,056 - Car Loan

I currently have £2,000 in savings which was supposed to pay off the loan, however I am going to keep £1,000 of it in savings and use £1,000 to pay towards one of the CC's, probably the 0% one when it runs out as the interest will be higher than my Barclaycard one.

I also found the goals I set (some of things I'd like to happen), here goes:

    By the end of 2009

[STRIKE]Go on a fab holiday with OH – already doing that in August![/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Get Virgin CC down to £3K Down to £500[/STRIKE] – PAID OFF
[STRIKE]Transfer Virgin CC to another 0%[/STRIKE] Transferred to a 0% for 10 months – only 3 months left!!
Keep on top of the housework so OH can see what a Domestic Goddess I am! - WIP

    By the end of 2010

[STRIKE]Save for a European holiday for around Jun 2010, Portugal! Booked! [/STRIKE]Over – boo!
Pay off car loan by Dec 2010 (15 months early, I hope) – Saved £2,000 so far!
Pay off 0% CC by Sept 2010 – In Progress
    [STRIKE]Get engaged – ahem we’ll see![/STRIKE] – DONE!
Save for a house with OH – Joint Savings Account to be opened
    [STRIKE]
Save for holiday to Mexico for sister’s 50th Not sure if this will happen now
    [/STRIKE]
    Next 5 Years (by the time I am 40) – faint…..

[STRIKE]Go to Canada for Christmas 2011[/STRIKE] – Probably not as Cruise booked for November 2011
Go on holiday to Mexico for sister’s 50th (2012) – See above
Go on holiday to Vancouver so OH can see bears (don’t ask)!
    Get a house with OH
Get married (or not, as I’m not too fussed about marriage)! Hopefully in 2011!!
[STRIKE]Might be too late for babies but hey if it happens….. [/STRIKE]Decided against kids – joint decision!

Some big goals there for me, the biggest one is getting rid of this debt, hopefully the house/wedding will follow on from there :D
