Bet you wouldn't like this, it's rather vile!

Might try adding some lentils to see if they sook up the curry!

Forgot to say, over the weekend, OH told me he had got a form to officially apply for his divorce, still can't believe after 10 years of being separated, he doesn't know if he is divorced or not. I guess if you can't remember signing anything, it's better to see about it, means we can make more concrete plans for the future, nice one!

I guess that is quite an important one! Definitely a good idea to get that sorted :D

The traditional way to soak up heat from curry/chillies is to add fat (ie cream/plain yoghurt).

I'd suggest giving that a go, will make the soup a little less healthy but much more palatable :)

Its why milder curries like Korma tend to be the least healthy and if you order a curry in an indian restaurant that's too hot for you you can often ask for a little yoghurt to add to cool it off. (and a glass of milk is the best thing to grab if you bite a chilli thats too hot for you :p)

Try testing adding a dollop to a small cup of the soup if in doubt...

Thanks JasX, I was googling remedies last night and it mentioned yoghurt but didn't think strawberry yog would cut it! Would single cream do? I have another soup recipe that uses cream, I don't normally use it but willing to try to save me soup!

Single cream should be fine and would certainly go a long way to cooling it off, like I said earlier if in doubt try test mixing a few teaspoons full with a single bowl/serving before tipping the whole tub into the full batch... :A

....tho depending on quite how much chilli we're talking if you find you need a whole tub of cream to make a single bowl edible might not prove pratical for the whole batch....

EDIT ack, just had a nasty thought noticing the 'orange' bit of the orange and carrot soup, if memory serves citric acid can react with creams/yoghurts and make it clump/curdle if the proportion of OJ is too high, definitely worth testing with a small bowl of the soup first as if your soup's too 'orangy' might not work.... doh :( sry

Fear not Jas for you have saved the day! I had some soup in a small pot to heat for work this morning and have gradually added in some single cream, maybe about 40ml and it's worked a treat, thankyou thankyou thankyou! :A:A

It did look a bit curdly at first but heated it gently and stirred for ages. There was only one carton of orange between two pots so not loads. Gonna enjoy my soup now, so hate wasting good food.

Afternoon all, can you believe it has taken this long to feel like normal again, well as normal as I can be!

Have had a MEGA spendy weekend, nothing I didn't need though. I got my walking boots, trousers, socks, backpack and a waterproof jacket, wasn't TOO expensive and it will hopefully all last for a while i.e. won't be replacing anything anytime soon. I always knew the initial outlay would be a wee bit but least I'm all kitted out now.

Told the same guy who commented on my hair that I had got my walking boots and instead of saying 'that's good', he was like 'you need to be fit to go walking', !!!!!!! Honestly no-one (especially him) has a good word to say, if the girl I work with is doing something she's great, if she's eating fruit, she's great. What does Swinstie get when she's eating grapes?! - They're full of sugar! Grrrrrr

That's the last time I mention anything I'm doing in future. Negative, negative, negative!

No wonder I'm on here so much, the support is so much better (and nicer)!

ETA: Another guy has just commented on my hair - he said it was nice, at last someone with a nice comment to make!

I thought you cut it yourself :rotfl:

Morning all, goodness didn't realise hadn't been posting for a few days! Not really much of an update, my debt has gone up slightly this month but as I have decided not to pay off my loan, going to update my signature so it 'looks' better. Got my holiday coming up six weeks tomorrow so really need to get my suitcase out of the loft (probably with a squirrel attached to it) and see if there is anything I need. Weight loss not going too well, so think the purchase of a swimsuit is essential, really can't scare people with Swinstie in a Bikini!

Got an email today about Boot Camp, total pants as it's not starting until 11th May at 6.15pm, which means I will be a) missing Body Balance which starts at 5.45pm for an hour and b) I will miss the last two weeks as I'm on holiday! Not paying an extra £20 to only basically get four weeks instead of six.

Have bought an exercise dvd instead (only had exercise videos before) so hopefully that along with the walking will help me get in shape.

Well have a good weekend everyone, planning on being super busy as OH coming down tomorrow. x

Evening all, had a great activity filled weekend. Got to the gym on Saturday, tried to buy my bike carrier from Halfords but my card wouldn't work - turns out my card had expired and I was meant to use my new one, went back for it today and new card worked, phew.

Went into Glasgow for a few drinkies and food with OH, sister and her OH, was a good laugh. Went for a 3 mile walk (read hike as it felt like that to me) on some rather precarious trails, was lovely weather for it although it did start to rain on the way back, but waterproofs did their job. Ankles are a bit sore now due to the boots not being broken in, a few more walks should do the trick.

Undid all the good work by eating out at a local Indian restaurant, but what the heck it was fab! Just had a nice bath and going to relax with Desperate Housewives and a cuppa, bliss. Have a nice night all x
