Hiya kaz
Your debt amounts are very similar to mines, I split them so didn't look so bad , so hopefully we will both see them shrink this year
Well drive home from work wasn't too bad, filled up windscreen wash but seems to have frozen again, really struggled to see. It is freezing, I am now sitting in my pj's with a poncho I found, under my dressing gown. Heating is on but downstairs always stays cool whilst upstairs is roasting.
Another NSD for me today, would love to think it's because of my willpower but in reality it's too cold to venture anywhere other than home.
OH just called, he's been called out to a job so was just a quick chat and he hopes to be out all night as he'll get tomorrow off. Oh well nothing much else to report so off to make dinner and maybe some banana bread.0 -

Glad your OH is ok (phew!). Have you tried Go Ahead biscuits? They're on offer at 60p in Sainsburys at the moment. They come in 5 packs of 3 so you can't be too tempted to binge unless you're really naughty. They're lovely and I like to keep them in my work drawer for when I fancy something sweet.
Never tried them SA, don't have a Sainsbury's near me and if I do I don't know where it is, but will have a look in Tesco or Asda. I nearly caved in with some chocolate today but I resisted (just)!0 -

Had a nice dinner of baked sweet potato (I love them), corn on the cob and marinaded grilled chicken. Found some barbecue marinade in the fridge from the summer, think was supposed to be used six weeks after opening
but it tasted yummy.
Trying to catch up with V+ progs so watching NCSI LA with a cuppa and my marzipan allowance then going to make some banana bread. Wondering whether should put choc chips in like the last time, or try and keep it healthier without. Could I add some fine oats to make it healthier??0 -
Banana bread is cooking away and smells heavenly. Put some fine oats in and think will be very tasty, no choc chips til have lost some weight
Watching My big fat diet, so wish I liked prawns but I do like salmon so will need to try eating more of that. Been googling recipes and was surprised that tinned tuna wasn't a source of Omega 3. Oh well will just have to stick to salmon as not fussed on sardines or mackerel (I will admit to not knowing how to cook them). Feeling quite peckish so might have one slice of wholewheat toast before bed and a cuppa, means have had three cups today but that's still good for me.
Prog back on, have even looked up website and added to my favourites, looks not a bad diet.0 -

That sounds really tasty - does it change the taste much, or just bulk it out?but I do like salmon so will need to try eating more of that
Poached salmon is wonderful. I also have a good recipe for salmon chowder (by yours truly) which I could post a link for if you'd like? It's fairly healthy and oh so filling. Salmon is also lovely marinaded in soy sauce and cumin and then grilled gently or baked in a foil packet....

The moo guide to dealing with a hypo......
1. Get sugar into him asap. Easiest way is to disolve a couple of heaped spoons of ordinary sugar in hot water. Add coffee to disguise the taste and lots of milk to cool it to luke warm then nag until its drunk rapidly and wait 5 minutes. At that point they're usually alert enough to do something about it themselves.
1a. If they're not alert enough to drink find some way of rousing them. In my dads case swearing at him does the trick. No matter how dopey he is he tells me off for swearing and at this stage I can usually force feed him liquid without risk of choking. I have been known to slap him across the face hard enough to give him a black eye in order to do this. Needs must and all that.
In less severe cases a couple of sweets or chocolate usually does the trick along with the instruction just shut up and do as you're told as my dad becomes rather rude and very argumentative when entering the hypo zone. Much like a woman with PMT his behaviour isn't nomral for him. He also swings his arms like an orangutan in a zoo. You do eventually get to the stage where you recognise these things way before they've got going but not always. Its the sudden ones that are scariest.
But if you can't get them to eat or drink without choking then the best thing you can do is roll them into the recovery position and phone for an ambulance. It is a real emergency. The faster you do this the less lasting damage there is. I would be amazed if things are this sever twice in a decade though.
As for the blood testing kits they are only a guide. They are free on the NHS. But your OH knows better than they do how he feels and should be perfectly capable of adjusting his food intake accordingly to counteract however he is feeling.

Morning all,
Just having a piece of my banana bread with a cuppa, yum! The oats didn't change the taste edinburgher, I only put a smattering in though and they were fine ones (might have been wheatgerm - they are in a tupperware so not in original packaging). I was well pleased how it turned out as usually the backside falls off when I take it out the loaf tin!
Thanks for the tips on hypos moo, luckily OH (so far) when he takes one seems to get dopey but not rude or argumentative, suppose he could in the future though. The second last one he took, I kept asking if he was taking one and he kept saying no (I guess they sometimes don't realise), but I gave him a twix and sent him to bed, he came down 10 mins later right as rain. Turns out he had been cutting the grass in the blazing sun and hadn't adjusted his meds accordingly.
I really hope he doesn't take a severe one again, that was the scariest thing to see. The doctor managed to get him a blood testing kit, he never bothers with it, but he got it to ease my mind, he's a good yin
Not much else to report, have moved another £5 into my rainy day fund, decided to move £5 at a time instead of £1 each day, can keep a track of it better!
ETA: The linky for the salmon chowder would be greaty appreciated edinburgher!!0 -

Ps. Sorry to link to a 'business' type site, but I don't use it any more and so won't gain anything from using the link0
