Same here FC....absolutely awful on the small and main road around here but once we get into the main outskirts of the town, the roads are a lot more improved.
I've not seen a gritter but a friend in the town on the main outskirts has had them go down his road 4 times in a very short space of time!
Just scared the kids by slip sliding into the space outside my house...not an uncontrolled slide I hasten to add, I was only going about 2 mph and was expecting it as we had to get over the ridge of frozen snow and ice...think I am getting the hang of this ice driving now!We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Hawkwind?? The band? Are they still alive? I used to love some of their stuff when I was about 11....I am 46 now. It had a whooshy tune to it..I can't remember exactly. They got upstaged by Queen a year later then Jonny Rotten and Polystyrene/XRay spex...at which point, I could afford to buy the records. They are worth a few bob now too...if I still had them.
I've seen Hawkwind a few times. Worked behind the bar at the Hammersmith Odeon (as it was then), got to see all the bands for free, including them.
Plus Bob Dylan. Never forgiven myself the time I turned down the opportunity to work backstage when Dylan was there, as I was just too knackered...
Ah, those were the days.0 -
Many moons ago I was 'encouraged' to buy a hawkwind LP, give it a try..
Being open minded I did. I listened to all of the first side, and got through more than half of the second side before I realised it was an exact copy of side A!
No wonder they made so much money. You're being conned0 -

Well at least you got 2 sides. All the disks I buy these days only have one, and they don't play properly on my Dansette either!0 -

Well, our dustbin men still came at 06.30, but it isn't nice off the B class roads. Some horrible-looking cloud is now approaching from the south, so it will soon warm up. That may help a few who are iced-in.
Unfortunately, it looks like the retail experience I've been promised later today in a 'village,' which is nothing of the sort, is still on.:rolleyes:0 -

Still.... didn't stop a couple of 2WD cars go down them at about 30 mph.
Bonkers, I was crawling along slowly in first gear.
Also we've seen a snowplow a day, for 3 days, they've never been seen before in the history of the village, I used to like being cut off.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -

nce we're off the village and rural roads onto a normal B road we're ok around here. I was hoping the sun would hit the ice here but doesn't look like its going to happen now.
I was driving at under 10 miles an hour, as I was yesterday when we gently bounced of the verge as we slid.
I haven't fed the horses yet: will have to drive, I'll never get back up the hill on foot, DH tried yesterday and just kept sliding back down :rolleyes:but I'm also going out for other stuff...so will go out first and come back a long way to approach from the other direction...which will be safer. Thankfully I can see they are ok and still have hay..so I'm not worried, its just annoying.0 -
Still very ice bound here...snow is just not melting.
Mind you, the kids are loving waking up to everything white day after day and the fact that they can do the old slide on their shoes/bums etc that they do on polished floors outside instead.
I even ventured out late last night (cats ran out of food, me being completely disorganised), drove very carefully of course but managed pretty well...all those years of driving home in horrendous weather from work late at night have served me well.
Going to discover what the roads are really like in under 30 minutes..off to see Alvin and the Chipmunks 2!We made it!
