My sister has a zafira, she's not a very confident driver (her son calls her, 'driving miss daisy'),
but she loves her zafira because she's high up and feels more confident. It has no parking sensors, she just finds spaces she can drive into and straight out. She's not a bad driver, just a little cautious.
And as for women not being able to park, I can park better than most men I know.
I worked in a car auction where space was limited, and wether you were parking a mini or lwb van you still had the same limited space.
If I were the op I'd ring the garage and ask them to take me out in the car again, explain to them why, and if I was still not confident enough I would ask them to source me another car. That way they may lose a sale but gain another, but it may take some time to find another car. The garages I worked for would probably find this the best compromise.

Getting out of the deal due to mis-advertised mileage really shouldn't be a problem.

As others have said, she accepted when the salesman said 38, she should have walked away, have you read the whole thread?

I got interrupted by "work" during reading this thread so I think I must have lost the plot somewhere on the way ;)

Adrian, ok - didn't mean to sound too harsh, just getting sick of people in other threads commenting and not reading the whole thread.

She was told that it was 38k when she viewed the car. So even if the advert was wrong, she knew pbefore she agreed and paid

    Sorry about that.

I think the OP bought what they bought and should stand by it. It's not as if they were deceived in any way.

to be quite honest, i think if you reread quentins posts again he talks a lot of sense. You at least wuld have the upper hand even if you ended up having to keep the car and have to reissue the cheque

No you wouldn't, you'd just get the garage owner's back up straight away. He's going to be angry when he only finds out you're trying to go back on the deal when the cheque bounces. You didn't even have the decency to ring him and talk to him, so what favours is he going to want to do for you, is he going to want to help you out of this situation? No. He's just going to want his money for the car you bought and he's going to want it fast and he's probably going to want the fee for the bounced cheque on top as well. Real smart.

You need a favour off this seller - you need him to agree to let you out of the deal, and you don't do that by cancelling cheques without even contacting the bloke first. You just don't conduct yourself in that manner at all if you're a half decent person.

I have already replied to your agressive (and unnecessarily abusive) post on this topic above!

I did post that the garage should be informed, and that the op should offer to pay any bank charge should the cheque have been put in to the system prior to the phone call!

You aren't grasping the tactic here - if the garage haven't been paid they are more likely to to be in the mood to negoiate this episode with a view to keeping the customer (especially if the car can be easily sold). But if they have their money, they won't be in any mood to give it back and start again!

Most garages won't be in the mood to negotiate at all though, as far as they're concerned the deals already done, paperwork signed and money handed over already, they will know their legal position and after being treated so badly by the customer (cancelling a cheque is rude) will likely just demand payment again and will do nothing to try and help the customer out after that. Any chance of working something out amicably like adults will be ruined.

By the way, I have not made a single "abusive" post so please don't falsely accuse me of that - you seem to have mistaken "blunt" for "abusive".
