What ever car you get there is a simple solution.

    You sit in the car.
Get friend to stand in front of car, with leg touching the bumper, make mental note of the cars dimensions.
    And away you go.

lol at this, i'd drive into my mates all the time!!!

Going from a Kia Pride (Mazda121) to a Zaphira is a big leap in any case.
Maybe OP would have been better off choosing a smaller, but higher vehicle, Honda Jazz, Nissan Note, Mariva or so on . All have bonnets you can't see, some Fords/ Nissans have the side lights mounted high in blistersto give you an idea where the extremities of the vehicle are.
You used to be able to get ping pong ball on a stick gadgets to attach to the front of the car to see where the front is.
Another poster recommended parking sensors, good idea, you can get them for front or rear.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

If that were the case, there would be no facility to stop one.

As previously posted, the worst that can happen over stopping the cheque is the garage asks the customer to refund any charge the Bank made over the cheque (if it has been paid in), and the deal has to be honoured.
I'm afraid your completely wrong, the ability to stop cheques was introduced for when a cheque became lost etc, it wasn't intended for cancelling because you have changed your mind about a purchase. And, as previously stated, the worst that can actually happen is that they can sue you for breach of contract and recover the full cost of the car, interest and costs. Think more before making silly suggestions that could result in significant financial harm to someone.

OP: Suggest you get over to the "Consumer rights" board for some better advice about your legal position.

No need to take such an agressive tone.

You are scaremongering by quoting the worst case scenario. That won't come about just because the cheque gets stopped.

They will only end up sueing if they decide they want to go to down that avenue after deciding not to let the customer off, the customer refusing to subsequently pay and the garage deciding they could win a court action (bearing in mind the other (wrong mileage) circumstances here).

In the meantime, stopping the cheque strengthens the customer's hand, nothing more.

Getting out of the deal due to mis-advertised mileage really shouldn't be a problem.

As for not seeing the end of the bonnet, my mother gave up worrying about that a long time ago as so many cars are like this for her and she did get used to it in time. Women are in general not so good at spacial awareness as men, it's just the way we're made. Makes it harder for a man to understand why parking a car is such a challenge or not being able to see the end of a bonnet is a problem since men find it easier to visualise where it is without actually seeing it.

Parking sensors on the front is a smart idea. A friend had a Ford Focus C Max in Ghia trim which had these as standard.

Unreal; the OP might want to stop the cheque after they have spoken to them and take the consequences.

Why the hell can't people talk to each other. If it was me i would have been on their doorstep at 9am doing a lot of grovelling and asking how we can sort it out.

As has been said cancelling the cheque first is just being rude at best and will incur breach of contract at worst.

It may be seen as rude, though I see it more as a negotiating tactic (with no significant downside) - cos once the cheque has cleared the garage won't be too motivated to give you the money back, whatever the circs!

IMO this is not true.... if the OP saw it on a third parties site with the wrong mileage, that may be nothing to do with the seller and you would have difficulty proving it.

The OP inspected the car and had chance to test drive it when it would have been plainly obvious what the mileage was.... she has no chance of getting out of it on this...

I could and probably am wrong but I get the impression that the "bonet" problem is nonsense and the OP has just changed her mind / got cold feet and is looking for ways out....

You viewed the car, you bought the car, the car is yours.

A bit different if you bought from eBay and the mileage was wrong on collection. You viewed before purchase, and was happy with the condition, defects, mileage, paintwork and may have agreed some repairs / servicing to be carried out.

    Good luck,
