I have no experience of this but it looks like you are being recommended to increase your Receive Window (RWIN) value, as this is probably limiting your effective speed. I'm sure that someone else will help you and there is a Read the Tweak FAQ link to click on.

    Hi
If BT is your isp, you can now go to this site, fill in the form, and apparently they phone you, usually within a day to discuss your problems.
It sounds to me as if BT are doing something right for once and perhaps more ISP's should take this on board.

I filled this in last night and they were on the phone this morning!

However I'm not clear whether this is in response to this form or the fault report I have had outstanding since 11 Jun, but considering this is the first time they have contacted me rather than the other way round in all this time, I am inclined to think the form did the business!

The call was from the Indian call centre and he tried to give me some guff about only guaranteeing that my connection would not fall below 800 kbps. I told him that it regularly fell below this and he just didn't seem to believe me. He also seemed unable to grasp the fact that my line had been happily connecting at 2000 kbps until this fault occured and intimated that I should be happy with 1MB. As I rarely reach even these dizzying heights he finally asked me to log onto https://www.speedtester.bt.com and to test my speed over the next couple of days and to log the results. He then told me they would call back and request the results.

I logged onto the site and so far I have done 3 tests today, all at around 250kbps, well below that which he stated I should not drop. The results are also logged in their database apparently so they can clearly see the problem.

Maybe now they will pull their fingers out:rolleyes:

    Hi

Download Dr Tcp, double click it and it will run, in the top box, change your TCp Receive window to 75920 and reboot your pc

    Hope this helps

AMAZING!!! Ive done that and now have a speed of 3289 kps (done at 7am this morning) as opposed to around 1700 before(done at various times). Its so much quicker and pages dont hang so much.

Thanks for that everyone...I dont suppose I will see my 6 meg, but you never know!:T
