What time did you test your connection??

my 16MB line varies greatly! during peak times (eg all afternoon and evening) my speed is clocked at between 2 and 6 MB but during the morning period (10.00-13.00) i get the full 16MB. this is mainly due to the amount of peroply on the network. try checking your connection at a quiet period like during the day when most people are at work(difficult i know if you are yourself at work..) to see what it is.

I'm about half a mile from the exchange and Ive tested it ten times today and stayed pretty much around 2 meg.

Just had an email from bt saying that they are still investigating the fault after my complaint email.

One thing i can tell you though is to complain about lack of service! when i was with Telewest Blueyonder and the broadband went down or went super slow i always called up and made a big fuss (i need it for business.... very important emails.... im sure your SLA says i need more uptime than this) which always resulted in a free month....

i think i got about 6 months free in the end...... even if it just went down for half an hour..... lol

Cheers for that. My wireless connection kreps dropping too and Ive just gone onto my router manager and it totalyl creashed my lovely little sony vaio laptop! had to do a system restore in safe mode. This isnt the first time that BT's software has corrupted my laptop. Last time I had to do a full system restore.

Gonna cancel with BT. Can anone recommend a good isp supplier (If there is such a thing!).

    Hi
Are you still on the trial period, it takes 10+ days for ADSLMAX to settle down, mine was up and down for the frist 15days, and now its excellent. But sometimes the BRAS profile gets stuck at 2mb, and this is something BT can correct.

What is your router syncing at?

BT are also having problems with their Speed Tester, and its not giving accurate results, apparently it won't be fixed until July.

    Have you tried this tester

    Hope this helps

Hiya..ive had my new "6 meg" brodband for 8 weeks now and since Monday is been terrible and now my voyager 2091 wireless router is only wireless when it feels like it.

I suferred 10 days of no broadband 10 days before my activation date not after for some reason which completely baffled BT.

Re my wireless problem I went onto the router manager earlier and it crashed my pc..had to go to safe mode and do a system restall. This isnt the first time time that Ive had to do that when on BT help sites. (Ive got a brand new sony vaio with windows XP). The last time I downloaded their antivirus software it corruped my lovely little laptop and had to do a fully system restall.

I did the speedtest with the above site and my results were 2181 kpbs download and 374 upload. Ive used lots of other test sites tho and the resukt is pretty much the same. What result should it be for 6 meg (My line wouldnt support 8 meg apparently but have been told that I should bt rec 6 meg by BT).

My speed seems slower to me now than when I upgraded, but for a while it was quicker but certainly not as quick as 6 meg.

    Thanks for your helpful post:D

I too was expecting 'up to 5 Megs'. My upload speed has improved, but my download speed has stayed a 2MB.
I'm thinking of moving to Be.
    BT are cr*p.
