a smart bird! Thats what I would say.
I placed them on a towel and squished some juice out. Then line the top of the rads with kitchen roll. No mingy juicy rads but the place will smell gorgeous. I turned them every so often so they didnt bend one shape!A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Afternoon all:j
Been MIA too due to many jobs to do before Christmas.
All presents now wrapped, food delivery coming Tues night.
Today have done a pile of ironing and got a Shepherds spy cooking at the mo, just the potatoes to do soon.
Also had to go to school for a meeting with DS`s teacher and one to one....he is doing well apart from the usual autism problems ( talking about toilets and door handles:cool:)
Didnt get much done yesterday as got a call from school to go and pick DS up as he was crying and overtired and they couldnt really sort him out. He had done his Xmas concert the night before and couldnt calm down to get to sleep. Xmas is always a bit of a problem for him bless him.
Managed to make buns for DS Xmas party today and package the jars of Chilli jam I made for the teachers..then that was yesterday over:eek:.
Ex Mr NPM is being made redundant at the end of the month so maintenance will be up in the air but hey ho we will survive.
OH`s van conked out on Monday and had to have new alternator but he struck a deal with the bloke to do his plumbing work in return for the van work so no money needed thank the Lord.
Lowesy great news:T....so happy for you.
Bargainbird Happy birthday hon!
ps just ordered extra present for DS......2010 Toilets of the world calendar lol0 -

Re the decorative oranges, M & D came and said " Whats with the oranges outside ?", DH replied " Don't touch them, they're for me to chew on when i get locked out" :rotfl::rolleyes: Still i like them.

Its snowing here wooooop, been snowing all day!!!
Xmas party tonight and have silly high shoes to wear!! And no tights and a short dress, so i'm going to freeze and end up in the general hospital lol
Hope everyone has a great day and enjoys the snow0 -
Afternoon all.
Bbbrrrrr, it's a cold one today.
Happy Birthday Bargainbird.
My kitchen is still all upside down; WM has been left pulled out of its slot to facilitate drying out; Mr LW is going to push it back tonight, as I'll have a pile of his clothes wanting doing, and I don't think I can cope with doing any more by hand for a bit.
Dins tonight is sorted - 2nd half of yesterday's Shepherd Spy. We have quite a bit of milk, so might do a rice pud for afters/supper (we usually leave a couple of hours between dins and pud, because I can't eat much at a time.)
I've also sent Mr LW to Morries in his lunch break today to get in some essential supplies (boring stuff like tea, and butter, but still essential).
Uh, oh, just noticed it's trying to snow.
Wrap up warm everyone; and ((((HUGS)))) to all who want/need one today, especially Anniestar - I blanched when I read Mark's post, as I never wear anything on my feet at home.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Morning all ............well not too far off really:D Just thought I would pop in and say hi again after a prolonged and very naughty absence. Sorry folks wont do it again.
I had a lovely birthday yesterday with some fab pressys:jMy brother sent me the most gorgeous flowers and James Martin. I have put the flowers in a vase and James in the kitchen making me dinner.............I wish:p. Anyways in lieu of him popping round I got his My Kitchen cook book which I have[STRIKE] drooled over [/STRIKE]meal planned from all day. (Does that count as my token OS mention?)
My GBF also got me the Marcus Wareing book One Perfect Ingredient which I cant deny he would be............:D I am determined to cook a few more exotic meals from now on as there is only so many times a girl can eat chilli or beans on toast.
I have finally sent my cards today which is good for me as they usually sit on the kitchen table and wait until January for the recycling bin. No decs up here yet but im considering not bothering as i wont be here for the big day and dont really see the point ..........sorry I know its bah humbug but i hate the loft and I hate taking them all down again at new year so its probably gonna be a minimalist one for me this year.
Tea tonight will be sausages mash and onion gravy (if James pulls his finger out that is:rotfl:)
Happy birthday Bargainbird and hugs to everyone else0 -
Well we are safely back from our trip to Leeds to collect the shelf unit. Weather was ok going up; just traffic on the south bound side of the M1 was so heavy and a traffic jam of around 3 -4 miles, we decided to come a different way back.
I did not get the original unit I had ordered but in fact one the same size but with 2 shelves rather than 3. He did offer me the two units but I only wanted the one.
We set off back in bright sunshine onto the A1M and stopped just south of Leeds for our picnic and a loo visit, turning off the A1 we picked up the A614 which cuts off a big corner swing and comes out onto the A46 further down. As we came through Lowdham it started to snow and by the time we were coming down towards home the visibility was so bad I told OH to carry on home, we had intended to stop at Dunelm, that’s the second time I have cancelled a visit in the last 2 weeks.
It was still snowing as we pulled up to the gate, but 20 minutes later the snow has stoped and we have clear blue sky…..gggggrrrrrr……but had we stopped we could have had real problems on the roads, it only needs 1 silly idiot, and we saw a few of those on the way down, and there is no telling what might have happened. My visit to Dunelm will have to wait until after the holidays now.
The car has had a good run and cleared out the filters, we travelled 195 miles all told, leaving home just after 9.30am and arriving back at 2.25pm. I have to get the paint for it now although I may get DS2 to put it up on the wall when he comes on Saturday, if he has time.
OH drove both ways, I was grateful he was driving on the way back, snow, ice and fog are not my forte I have to say…..its very cold even when it is not snowing, the thermometer in the garden is down to 1 degree and falling……..
So nice to come back into a nice warm house, a cup of tea and a piece of toasted pannetone…….scrummy.
Easy supper tonight, HM fish and chips with the remains of last night’s bread and butter pudding for afters.
Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
Just a quickie (oo-er) but am after a bit of advice - should I not be eating leftovers at the moment? I'm going to make some spaghetti bolognese tonight for our tea and would generally make enough bolognese for our lunches the following day... I cool it quickly and store in a tuppaware container in the fridge overnight, and at work until about half an hour before I need it. I don't generally reheat though as I quite like it cold
Any advice gratefully received xxSometimes that mountain you've been climbing is just a grain of sand,
What you've been out there searching for forever is in your hands0 -

nelski - Loved the firemanHope James is behaving himself and not setting the kitchen on fire  I have one of his books (Easy British Food")but haven't made anything from it yet, though I'm sure I shall as some of the recipes look yummy (especially the treacle tart, but better not make that in view of DH's diabetes) - I actually bought it from The Book People to help make up the amount needed for free postage
Well, the tree is not up yet but I have moved all my cookbooks except the few that are in the kitchen, so I'll now be able to get at them when the tree is finally up :j I think next year we may invest in a small tree, which can go on the coffee table and have the Crib beside it. In the meantime I keep glancing across contentedly at my cookbooks and wondering why I didn't think to put them there in the first place
Zippychick - The oranges look great!
