Palm Pre Any Good?

I've had mine since the UK launch date and it's brilliant. I'd recommend anyone with a decent knowledge of computers to get Preware installed on it, which gives you an uofficial App Catalogue, and gives access to loads of new stuff, including loads of Linux ports, Doom and Quake being the biggies. You can't install these 2 until you have WebOS 1.3.5 (we're on 1.3.1 in the UK) but hopefully that will be along soon.

When you say 'decent knowledge' what do you mean?0 -
There's a guide for how to get homebrew going on the website I referenced. As a guide, I'd say if you've flashed your BIOS or installed an OS on your computer before, you're capable of putting homebrew software on your Pre. Get the Pre into 'developer mode' by pressing all the right buttons, dowload a couple of programs onto your computer, plug the Pre in, install 1 program (sorry, App!) then do the same trick to get the Pre out of developer mode again. You can then download loads of homebrew apps over the air the same way as you do with the official App Catalogue. Loads of useful stuff in there.0

I would like to know how to unlock a Palm Pre as I cant afford the Pay monthly fee, I want to put my O2 PAYG in it, any chance of doing this or any companies able to safely unlock it please?0

It's locked to O2 - just go ahead and put the PAYG SIM in it and it'll work fine. Of course you know that this thing uses data all the time, so if you haven't got a data tariff you'll get stung for a big charge?!0
