Who is giving Palm Pre cheapest?

Is it possible to buy it unlocked from anywhere?

Some places (Expansys and Play.com at least) had them for pre-order unlocked but I think had to remove them. The only way to get it officially in the UK will be to get it on a contract with O2. O2 stores online and high street, Carphone Warehouse and phones4u at least will have them from 16th October. The tariffs are here and I can't see them being any different across retailers:

So you need to look at cashback sites for cheaper prices. o2 and phones 4u both have £35 cashback with quidco for taking out an o2 contract, Carphone have £40. Since I'm in NI Carphone want to charge me more postage, so I'll be ordering from o2, but I think that anyone in England, Scotland, Wales would pay less with Carphone Warehouse.
Obviously their prices haven't been announced yet and I'd love for someone to come and tell us there's a far better one to be had...

Is there any way to get one outside of UK? Where they will be cheapest then within EU?

The UK phone market heavily subsidises the cost of the phone. You are unlikely to get one cheaply outside the UK, especially when you think it'#s going to be exclusive to certain carriers.

Best guess will be at least £400 unlocked if you can get them at all.

Hmm, quite steep price :( Looks like I need to buy a Nokia 5800 instead.

    YOUCH.. From the o2 site

You can use your text message bundle to send picture messages in the UK and abroad. One picture message counts as four texts. If you use them all up, it's just 24.47p a message. Or add a 500 message bundle for £7.34 a month.

25P a message!!! Especially as the low end bundle only has 125 texts included...

  • Hello,

like many of us we've all seen the palm pre and guessing a number of us would like one. Currently on contract with O2, quite happy after intial problems and would like to remain with them. I'd also like to switch from the n95 (8gb) to the palm pre, however O2 have told me i am unable to.

Have O2 been known to let customers switch phones into their contract, i was previously on an 18 month and currently 3 months into a new contrac. Its not like i will be paying any less switching to the pre and would have thought that in current circumastances companies would be doing more and more to keep customers happy.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks

If you've agreed to a new contract you need to keep up your end of the deal I'm afraid. There will be newer phones far superior to the Palm Pr! in 15 months' time, I assure you :)

Yep the tarriff is exactly the same I think as the 8gb iPhone, but you get a free keyboard with the Pre! I'm going for the 600min bundle just because the lower text allowance is too tight.
